One exclusive booking per day. A private villa set on a vast property within Akan-Mashu National Park.

Teshikaga, Kussyaroko, in eastern Hokkaido. Set on a vast 30,055 m² property within Akan-Mashu National Park—where primeval forests still remain—there is only one villa (266 m²). During your stay, TAPKOP becomes a completely private space reserved exclusively for you. Sip coffee while listening to birdsong among the trees, or enjoy an outdoor air bath facing the forest of Maruyama. In the deep silence of night, stars stretch from right before your eyes to the zenith; on moonlit nights, the mountain ridges softly emerge in the glow. Watching the campfire feels as if you are being embraced by the surrounding forest, creating truly special moments at TAPKOP. Here, every moment is infused with both the beauty and severity of nature. Throughout your stay, we invite you to enjoy time lived in harmony with nature.

Akan-Mashu National Park

A setting embraced by primeval forests and Ainu mythology

TAPKOP stands on a small hill called Maruyama in Akan-Mashu National Park. Its name comes from the Ainu language, meaning “a gently rounded hill.” Outside the living room window rises Mt. Optateshke, a mountain that appears in local myths. On the 30,055 m² grounds, surrounded by more than 30 species of trees, walking trails of Mashu volcanic ash lead onward to the headwaters of the Kushiro River.
