The source of this Onsen is said to have been enjoyed by Matsumae Chikatsumaru, who later became the lord of the Matsumae Domain during the Edo period, and by Enomoto Takeaki, the leader of the former shogunate forces during the late Edo period. "Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen Umi to Akari / Hewitt Resort" is a Resort Hotel where you can experience the charm of the traditional Hakodate Yunokawa. The buffet-style dinner, featuring approximately 150 different dishes, offers one of the largest selections in Hokkaido.

  • Great hot springs and outstanding meals!

    We stayed here for a family trip with relatives. It’s conveniently located right in front of the highway bus stop. It’s a bit far from central Hakodate, but it’s only about 15 minutes by bus. The Room was nice, and the seafood meals were especially outstanding—our older relatives were delighted. The bath had wonderful water and we really enjoyed it; they said they would definitely like to stay again. We felt it was the perfect place to relax and recover from fatigue. Thank you very much.

  • A regular Accommodation in Hokkaido

    We’re a family that loves Hokkaido. Since we’re not comfortable flying, we travel to Hokkaido by JR at least twice a year. We usually stay about four nights, changing Hotels every day to enjoy Onsen and great food. We’ve visited most of the recommended Hotels in Hakodate and Yunokawa.We stayed at Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen Umi to Akari soon after it opened and absolutely loved it—now it has become our regular Accommodation. My husband, who loves scallops, always looks forward to the grilled scallops, and my daughter comes home refreshed every time after soaking in the ocean-view open-air bath.Especially on summer nights, the moonlight reflects on the vast sea in front of the open-air bath, shimmering with the waves—it feels truly magical. As for me, I always look forward to the ice cream at dinner here—especially the sweet red bean flavor—which is hands down my all-time number one.The Hotel’s service and staff are outstanding as well. I hadn’t posted many Reviews because I wanted to keep this place a secret, but I wanted to express my gratitude.Congratulations on your 5th anniversary!

    In Hokkaido and Hakodate City, an Accommodation Tax will be imposed on guests staying at Accommodations within Hakodate City starting April 1, 2026.
    The Accommodation Tax applies to guests staying at Hotels, Ryokans, simple lodging facilities, and private lodging (vacation rental) properties. It will be collected by each Accommodation at the time of payment for your Accommodation Fee and then remitted to the city.
