The source of this Onsen is said to have been enjoyed by Matsumae Chikatsumaru, who later became the lord of the Matsumae Domain during the Edo period, and by Enomoto Takeaki, the leader of the former shogunate forces during the late Edo period. "Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen Umi to Akari / Hewitt Resort" is a Resort Hotel where you can experience the charm of the traditional Hakodate Yunokawa. Great hot springs and outstanding meals!
We stayed here for a family trip with relatives. It’s conveniently located right in front of the highway bus stop. It’s a bit far from central Hakodate, but it’s only about 15 minutes by bus. The Room was nice, and the seafood meals were especially outstanding—our older relatives were delighted. The bath had wonderful water and we really enjoyed it; they said they would definitely like to stay again. We felt it was the perfect place to relax and recover from fatigue. Thank you very much.

The buffet lives up to its great reputation!
As it has only recently opened, the Facility is very clean and feels fresh throughout.The only downside is the large public bath: since it’s on the top floor and you have to use the elevator to get there from any floor, we often waited more than five minutes, and when it arrived it was sometimes full. Even when we got on, it stopped at multiple floors along the way.The view from the large public bath is amazing, but it feels a bit small for the number of guest rooms. On the men’s side there were only three hair dryers—fewer than the number of sinks—so there was a line.That said, the buffet really is as great as people say!Personally, I especially loved the pizza.It had plenty of cheese and a delicious crust—although I came for seafood, I ended up eating mostly pizza.This may be a slightly luxurious complaint, but for a Hotel where breakfast for a family of four comes in at around 30,000 yen range, this level of quality is hard to find.Next time I’d like to stay with the dinner buffet included!
