Located on the expansive grounds of Mount Nagara's hillside in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, is Enryakuji Temple (Miidera), boasting a 1,300-year history. Since the Heian period, it has been regarded as one of the four great temples alongside Todai-ji, Kofuku-ji, and Enryaku-ji. The temple holds 64 national treasures and 720 important cultural properties and has historical ties with notable warlords such as Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Tokugawa Ieyasu, and Mouri Terumoto. Within the grounds of Miidera stands "Myogon-in," a structure with over 400 years of history that has recently served an essential role as a monk's quarters. Now available for use as accommodation for one group per day only. Myogon-in is a private Accommodation limited to one group per day, nestled within the grounds of Mii-dera, the head temple of the Tendai Jimon sect with over 1,300 years of history.

Guests can enjoy the serene atmosphere of the temple grounds at dusk and in the early morning—an experience not available during daytime visits.
Upon request, we can also arrange Mii-dera–specific training and cultural experiences.
Enjoy an exceptional temple stay with exclusive use of an entire monks’ quarters that has been passed down for over 400 years.

Three-Story Pagoda
Special Viewing of the Three-Story Pagoda (Important Cultural Property)

Relocated from Nara's Sesonji Temple (formerly Hiso-ji Temple), this structure is designated as an Important Cultural Property. It has only been opened to the public once in the past, making access a truly rare opportunity. On the first tier of the altar, wooden statues of Shakyamuni Triad are enshrined.

Kannon Hall
Special Admission to the Inner Sanctuary of Kannon Hall (Prefectural Cultural Property)

A significant center of Kannon worship at Miidera Temple. Normally closed to the public, you can enter the inner sanctuary housing numerous important Buddhist statues and have the rare opportunity to closely worship the principal deity, Nyoirin Kannon, which is only unveiled once every 33 years.

Moon Viewing Stage
Access to the Moon Viewing Stage (Prefectural Cultural Property)

A stage-style building known as a famous spot for moon viewing since ancient times. While it is no longer accessible to the general public, guests staying at our accommodation can enjoy exclusive access to the stage and take in the breathtaking views reserved for a select few.
