Among them, in the snow-rich Matsunoyama area, "Hinanoyado Chitose" awaits your visit. Here, you can enjoy the Matsunoyama Onsen, one of Japan's three major medicinal hot springs, with open-air baths fed directly from the source. We also prepare local cuisine using delicious rice and mountain vegetables nurtured by snowmelt water to welcome you.
I’ve stayed at many Accommodations, but this one felt truly original and made for a memorable stay. The meals were on the smaller side, but everything was delicious—local specialties and unique dishes using wild mountain vegetables, all carefully prepared with locally sourced ingredients. For breakfast, I also enjoyed the signature white rice along with a wide variety of toppings to go with it. As others have mentioned, the Onsen has a distinctive aroma and very salty water, and I’m glad I visited for that experience as well. One point for improvement: I wanted to enjoy the high-quality bath multiple times, but since we had to bring the bath towel from the Room each time, we ended up reusing the same one repeatedly. It would be great if bath towels were also provided in the public bath area.

At Property Hinano Chitose, we offer 8 types of guest rooms. Standard rooms with kotatsu and snow-viewing shoji screens reflect the rustic charm of the snow country. Semi-special rooms with massage chairs are popular among seniors. Special rooms with private open-air baths cater to your preferred stay style.
Matsunoyama Onsen, counted among Japan's three great medicinal hot springs alongside Kusatsu and Arima. Containing 15 times the standard amount of hot spring minerals, this concentration is why it is called a medicinal hot spring. Erupting at a high temperature of 92 degrees, the abundant salt content warms the body well, earning it the nickname "Hot Water." Enjoy the medicinally rich water, excellent for skin beautification and healing wounds, in an open-air bath with water directly sourced from the spring.
We offer a dinner that conveys the flavors of the satoyama, utilizing the remaining culture and seasonal local ingredients of Matsunoyama. Enjoy the unique cuisine of this land, emphasizing nostalgia and kindness to the body.
From the moment you step inside, we aim to provide a comfortable experience. At Chitose, the indoor corridors are covered with "tatami" mats. Therefore, there is no need to wear slippers. Additionally, each Facility emphasizes the warmth of wood. Please relax in an environment surrounded by natural materials.
