In the late Edo period, in the tenth year of Tenpō (1839), Izutsu-an was established as an inn for travelers and monks visiting Higashi Honganji, the head temple of the Jōdo Shinshū sect. Since then, for over 170 years, we have cherished Kyoto's traditions while providing the best hospitality of the times. Today, we are loved and frequented by numerous literary and artistic figures from both Japan and abroad.

The 24 solar terms are a calendar that further divides the year, revolving around spring, summer, autumn, and winter. At Izutsu Yasushi, we carefully select delicious ingredients in line with the natural rhythm of the season. To procure the freshest ingredients possible each day, the omakase kaiseki menu changes daily.
We aim to provide our guests with a comfortable time through subtle attentiveness rather than excessive service. Therefore, the bath is a private family bath that can only be used with loved ones.
