A secluded adults-only retreat with just five rooms, perched on a hilltop on Himakajima Island in the Chita Peninsula.

On a hilltop on the island, beyond narrow lanes, you’ll find a place where the island’s timeless scenery remains unchanged. In a spectacular location overlooking Shinojima Island, Ise Bay, and Mikawa Bay—and as far as Ise-Shima in the distance—stands the adults-only hidden Accommodation “Shima Besso Yuzuki.” A simple exterior with black wooden boarding inspired by old fishermen’s huts. Inside, diatomaceous earth walls and light wood create a bright, healthy atmosphere; together with warm lighting, the interior soothes tired minds and invites you to unwind. Every guest room features a spacious open wood deck and an open-air bath. The pleasant island breeze and gentle sound of the waves provide relaxing background music. Enjoy an environment where you can fully take in the scent of the sea. Freshly caught local seafood and heartfelt hospitality limited to five groups per day. We may not offer anything extravagant, but we will do our best to help you recover from everyday fatigue.

  • Dinner features a full-course pufferfish meal. Breakfast includes freshly cooked rice in an earthen pot, thickly sliced grilled salmon, shaved bonito flakes (a rare treat these days), fluffy rolled omelet, large soft pickled plums, lightly pickled cucumber and daikon radish, and more—showcasing attention to both ingredients and hospitality.

  • After finishing business in Nagoya, I decided to visit Himakajima, famous for octopus and blowfish, to enjoy the sea view. The well-designed interior and clean rooms provided a comfortable stay. The meals were prepared with fresh ingredients and served at their best. The pike conger tempura was absolutely delicious. For my husband, who isn't fond of Japanese-style breakfasts, they kindly prepared a Western breakfast as an alternative, which made both of us very happy. At night, stepping out onto the room's balcony revealed Scorpio directly in front of us. The perfection and beauty of that scene left me mesmerized for a while—I believe I'll never forget that view. With thoughtful hospitality throughout our stay, we were able to truly relax. True to its name as an "island villa," this is an accommodation I would love to visit again. Everything about this accommodation was perfect!
