An adults-only Onsen Accommodation blending Hyogo’s traditional beauty with modern style

A Japanese-modern Onsen Accommodation nestled among the mountains, quietly set along the Haruki River in serene Yumura Onsen. The interior design is inspired by Hyogo’s traditional craft, Toyooka Kiryuzai-zaiku (woven willow work). Relax in the “beauty bath” Onsen, enjoy a breakfast rich in locally sourced San’in ingredients—including our abundant fresh-vegetable steamer basket dishes—and unwind with a seasonal creative kaiseki course that lets you savor all four seasons. Plans featuring the local specialty Tajima beef and winter delicacy Matsuba crab are also popular. About 3.5 hours from Osaka by express bus to Yumura Onsen. Approx. 75 minutes by car to Takeda Castle Ruins and about 40 minutes by car to the Tottori Sand Dunes.

  • I was able to make a last-minute Reservation for a stay starting on the final day of Golden Week, and they kindly accommodated me. Because it was a sudden Reservation, I couldn’t get exactly the Room I wanted, but from check-in to check-out I was able to relax and enjoy my stay without any stress. The meals were outstanding in both quality and quantity, and I truly enjoyed them—I was very satisfied. The Onsen water felt gentle on the skin, and I could soak at ease; I was very satisfied with that as well. I would definitely like to return.

  • The staff at the Accommodation were kind and attentive. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, with crab and fresh vegetables in such generous portions that we couldn’t finish everything. However, it was disappointing for someone like me who wants to take it slow that checkout is at 10:00 and everything closes at 10:00.This isn’t the Accommodation’s fault, but the Yumura Onsen town seemed less lively than it used to be.Also, Hamazaka felt far away, and Hamazaka Station has only stairs, which was tough for someone with limited mobility.

Silver Award, A' Design Award & Competition 2022–2023

Thank you very much for your continued patronage of “San’in Yumura Onsen Yusen no Accommodation Yuamu.”

We are pleased to announce that, at Italy’s world-renowned design competition “A’ Design Award & Competition 2022–2023,” three types of guest rooms with a semi-open-air Onsen bath, , newly opened in February 2023 and designed by Naoya Tochio, along with the dining venue “OriorI,” received the Silver Award.

We sincerely appreciate your continued support.

~Guest Rooms with Semi-Open-Air Onsen Bath
Opened in February 2023, the guest rooms with a semi-open-air Onsen bath are located along the Harukigawa River. Looking down through the window of your private semi-open-air Onsen bath, you can see the Harukigawa flowing below. By making these “guest rooms with a semi-open-air Onsen bath,” we have made it possible for you to bathe while enjoying views of the Harukigawa from the window without worrying about the weather. The rooms are on the second floor and close to the river, allowing you to enjoy its gentle murmur and the changing seasons—cherry blossoms in spring, lush green mountains in summer, autumn foliage in fall, and snowy scenery in winter.

Yumura Onsen is one of The whole country’s hottest hot springs. While free-flowing natural hot spring water is a luxury, it is extremely hot as-is. In all three types of guest rooms with a semi-open-air Onsen bath , there are separate taps for “natural hot spring water” and “water,” allowing guests to adjust the temperature themselves.

  • Autumn in Yumura Onsen

Surrounded by nature in every season, Yumura Onsen is especially beautiful in autumn, when vibrant foliage and crisp air mingle with the steam rising from the hot springs to welcome travelers. Around this time each year, one familiar seasonal visitor appears: stink bugs.

Stink bugs are common insects in Japan, with more than 1,300 species nationwide, and they become particularly active in early autumn. This year, due to the hot and dry summer weather, they have been seen more frequently than usual. While not pleasant to look at, they are also a sign of autumn in a nature-rich Onsen area.

At our property, we carry out regular preventive measures and pest control through professional contractors and also check during room cleaning. However, as these are insects from the natural environment, it is impossible to prevent them completely—they may enter by clinging to clothing or luggage or through small gaps around doors and windows. As they may emit an unpleasant odor when touched, if you happen to see one in your room, please do not touch it and contact the front desk. Our staff will respond promptly.

They naturally decrease as winter approaches and disappear by the time snowy scenery arrives.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for a while longer, and we appreciate your understanding as this is part of the seasonal character unique to an Onsen destination that coexists with nature.
