  • The Best Rock Bath

    This long-established Ryokan had a calm atmosphere, and the garden was wonderful.Most notably, the in-room rock bath was so spacious that it felt almost too much for our family of three, and with free-flowing hot spring water straight from the source, we lost count of how many times we soaked.The meals were also carefully prepared; everything was delicious, especially the tasty rice—so good that our son, who usually never asks for seconds, did.We would definitely like to stay again.Thank you very much.

  • A Private Indoor Hot Spring Bath and Delicious Cuisine

    This was my first visit. For me, travel is all about enjoying a good bath and delicious food. The indoor bath has free-flowing hot spring water. It’s a bit hot, so I filled it early to let it cool before getting in, but the water quality was excellent and left my skin silky smooth. Perhaps because the indoor bath is so good, hardly anyone used the large public bath, so I had it all to myself. I was also glad I could enjoy the open-air bath when the rain let up. The meals were more than satisfying in both quantity and taste—from an appetizer of salted autumn salmon to a slightly miso-flavored beef hot pot. The sake pairing course that Reviews praised was also wonderful; you can choose from sake, wine, and more, which made everything even better. Highly recommended. I really appreciated the well-timed service of each dish and drink. Since we took our time dining, the red wine ended up paired with “low-temperature cooked Mt. Fuji salmon,” but Mont Perat Rouge matched far better than expected—I was impressed. We arrived during heavy rain, but even the rain-soaked trees seen from the window had a charming atmosphere. Getting around can certainly be difficult, but if you can enjoy that along with its age and inconveniences, I think this is a truly wonderful Ryokan. I did wish there had been a bit more thorough cleaning—such as dust on the shoji screens—but antique furnishings will deteriorate if they aren’t maintained as well. I sincerely hope this classic Japanese Onsen Ryokan will continue for many years to come.
