Enjoy a 100% natural Onsen flowing directly from the source in an open-air bath within a suite room at Hanamaki・Namari Onsen.

Inishie no Toki Onsen. With over 600 years of tradition, the renowned hot spring flowing from the mountains of Hanamaki, the legendary Shirozaru Onsen, a time of relaxation, exquisite cuisine, and the spirit of hospitality passed down since its opening, a new story begins.

  • We were able to use the baths at Fujisan Ryokan, and our Room on the 13th floor was modern and comfortable. The food was truly excellent.Among the indoor baths, the standing-bath design has a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere—very much like a traditional hot-spring cure bath—and it’s wonderful. It’s quite far from Tokyo, but if you love Onsen, it’s absolutely worth the trip! There are many international staff members, and every one of them is fantastic. I’m grateful for how they help support Japan’s Ryokan industry amid staffing shortages.

  • Located near the final stop of the free shuttle bus from Shin-Hanamaki Station. The Room and the semi-open-air bath attached to the Room (almost an indoor bath) were excellent. The shampoo and other toiletries were my favorite THANN products from Thailand and had a wonderful fragrance. Amenities were also well stocked. The only disappointment was that I could not use the large public bath unless I went to Fujisan Ryokan, and the water temperature was quite hot, so I almost felt overheated. Both dinner and breakfast were just the right amount—not too much or too little—and a delicious mix of Japanese and Western dishes. The staff were pleasant and kind, and if possible, I would have liked a Multiple Night Stay so I could relax and enjoy the perfectly warm in-room bath again and again.

The sauna room features a design inspired by the works of Hanamaki's renowned fairy tale author, "Kenji Miyazawa," such as "The Bears of Nametoko Mountain" and the silhouette of "Kenji-san." You can also enjoy self-pouring steam with a sauna stove inspired by the Galactic Railroad. Here, you can experience a standing cold bath with an average depth of 1.25m, similar to the average depth of Japan's deepest natural rock hot spring, "Shirouen no Yu," while relaxing outdoors with views of the Toyosawa River and Shiraito Falls.

Miyazawa Kenji
A hot spring Ryokan, "Fujisan Ryokan," loved and featured by literary figures Kenji Miyazawa and Torahiko Tamiya.

Kenji Miyazawa, the author of novels such as "Night on the Galactic Railroad" and "The Restaurant of Many Orders," frequently visited our Property due to his familial ties with our family from a young age. In his fairy tale "The Bears of Nametoko Mountain," Kenji Miyazawa wrote, "It heals stomach pain and even cures wounds. The leaden hot spring..." While there are other accommodations said to have been loved by Kenji Miyazawa, our Property is the only one featured in his works. Additionally, the Ryokan "Fujisan Ryokan" served as the setting for the novel "Silver Double Suicide" (Shirogane Shinju) by Torahiko Tamiya. The novel was written during Torahiko Tamiya's stay of over a month in Room 20 on the third floor of the entrance building of Fujisan Ryokan. (Image: Rasuchijin Association)
