A registered Tangible Cultural Property culinary Ryokan. Enjoy a moment of tranquility in a magnificent modern Japanese-style building overlooking the garden.

"On the hill where crimson blooms..." as sung in the Mikako Dormitory Song and cherished as one of the Higashiyama Thirty-Six Peaks, Yoshida Hill in Kyoto. Located on its slope, Yoshida Sanso was built in 1932 (Showa 7) as a villa for the family of Prince Higashifushimi, the brother-in-law of Emperor Showa. After the war, it became a Ryokan while retaining its magnificent appearance, offering accommodations, banquets, and Kyoto cuisine. Guests can also enjoy tea at the café Shinkokan during a stroll, as well as various seasonal events and cultural activities. We sincerely look forward to welcoming you to our Property.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Reception room
The Yoshida Sanso Building

Built in Showa 7 (1932) as a villa for Prince Higashifushimi, it is a cultural asset that beautifully combines Japanese and Western styles.

Entrance
Entrance

The round stained glass "Chokkomonkyou" on the left side of the entrance to the mountain lodge, as well as the stained glass seen in the reception room and flower room, are based on the back patterns of bronze mirrors from the Kofun period. These bronze mirrors were excavated in Meiji 18 from the Shinyama Kofun (Otsuka, Koryo Town) in Nara Prefecture and are believed to date back to the early Kofun period (around the 3rd century).

VIEW
Garden

In spring, cherry blossoms bloom, and in early summer, satsuki and azaleas are beautiful. In the garden of Yoshidayama-so, which embodies all four seasons of Kyoto, wild birds occasionally descend, allowing you to immerse yourself in a tranquil atmosphere. We also host concerts and tea gatherings, providing a place of relaxation for everyone. From the garden of Yoshidayama-so, you can closely view "Mount Daimonji," the most famous of Kyoto's summer traditions, the Gozan no Okuribi.
