Established in 1625, during the Kan'ei 2 era. A historic accommodation offering natural hot spring baths directly from its own source.

Bansuiro Fukuzumi is a historic Onsen accommodation in Hakone Yumoto, established in 1625 during the Kan'ei era, with its own private hot spring source. During the late Edo to Meiji periods, it hosted notable figures such as the 15th Shogun Tokugawa Yoshinobu, Yukichi Fukuzawa, Hirobumi Ito, and Takamori Saigo. In 2002, it became the first active Ryokan to be designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Now celebrating its 393rd year since establishment, we continue to offer heartfelt hospitality that delights our guests without resting on our historical laurels.

  • A historic Ryokan. While the Facility is undeniably old, the hospitality and comfort more than made up for it.Especially the meals. For example: tofu, miso soup, rice, nori, and dried horse mackerel for breakfast. They are all classic items, but each one seemed carefully selected and thoughtfully prepared. If I may ask for one thing, since it is such a distinguished historic building, I would love to see an in-house tour or a chance to view it from the garden as well. All of the staff were courteous, and I was able to relax at a leisurely pace while reflecting on the charm of Ryokans from a bygone era.Thank you very much.

  • This Accommodation has a long history and a sense of tradition, yet it never makes guests feel intimidated. There are some inconveniences that come with age, but even those felt somehow nostalgic and comforting—overall, it was a truly wonderful Accommodation.I opened the windows of the veranda, listened to the sound of the Hayakawa River, lay down on the tatami mats, and admired each of the 48 ceiling paintings one by one—it was an incredibly luxurious way to spend time.I heard that this Room may be used for another purpose in the future, so being able to enjoy it in such an unreserved way might only be possible for now.The staff were welcoming without being formal, attentive while keeping a comfortable distance, which made my stay very pleasant.I would love to visit again.

Notice from the Accommodation

  • Due to popular demand, we are pleased to announce the restock of Room 15!

On May 30, 2026, TV Tokyo’s “Niimi no Kyojintachi” featured No. 15 and announced that it was scheduled to reopen as a café & bar on July 20. After the broadcast, we have received many kind requests from guests saying they would love to stay at No. 15.

To meet these expectations, we have decided to extend the period during which stays at No. 15 are available for booking.

We sincerely apologize to those who have been looking forward to the café opening, but we appreciate your understanding as we made this decision so that more guests can enjoy staying at No. 15.
