Savor carefully crafted Kyoto cuisine while soaking in Kyoto’s history by Nanzen-ji Temple.

Just steps from the approach to Nanzen-ji Temple, you will find Yachiyo, an inn offering Kyoto cuisine and a beautiful garden. The main entrance is marked by an impressive large lantern. Passing through the gate, guests are welcomed by a meticulously maintained courtyard garden and seasonal flowers. The property consists of the Main Building and an Annex. From the guest rooms in the Main Building, you can enjoy views of a garden designed by the renowned landscape artist Jihei Ogawa, also known as "Ueji," as well as the seasonally adorned Higashiyama area. Walking through the charming long corridor leads to a modern yet traditional Japanese space. The Annex features an elegant Japanese-style room with 12.5 tatami mats and striking Kyoto karakami paper designs, providing ample space for families to relax comfortably.

    At Nanzenji Yachiyo,
to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, we carry out thorough ozone disinfection, require mask-wearing, and regularly ventilate the building. In addition, from a social distancing perspective, we have renovated by limiting guest Rooms in the Main Building, closed the shared lounge areas, limited stays to only 1–2 parties per floor, and restricted occupancy numbers. For our large public baths in the Annex Building (“Nanzen” and “Eikan”), bathing is available by timed private reservation: 3:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m. regular operation (separate for men/women); 5:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. private use; 10:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m. regular operation (separate for men/women). Morning hours are regular operation (separate for men/women). Thank you for your cooperation.

We will continue creating an environment where you can visit with peace of mind, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

While we are still refining our hospitality during your stay, to help ensure a safe environment we will keep staff check-ins to a minimum whenever possible. Please contact us via the in-room phone if you need anything.

We understand that some aspects may not yet meet our usual level of service; thank you again for your understanding and cooperation.

From October 1st, repairs will begin on the Annex Building lounge. For some time there will continue to be restrictions on lounge use due to social distancing measures; thank you for your continued cooperation.

In addition, Rooms in the Main Building (“Take,” “Matsu,” “Kiku,” “Tsurukame,” “Yugiri,” “Ukifune,” and “Horai”) will be repaired sequentially according to the schedule below. During this period there may be daytime noise in the Main Building; we appreciate your kind understanding. We hope you look forward to its completion.
