Ryokan "Ogoto Onsen Yumotokan" located in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, by the shores of Lake Biwa. Enjoy a tour of the four different onsen within the property, and we offer various accommodation plans and day-use plans. Please relax while gazing at Lake Biwa.
We truly enjoyed an elegant time as a couple while traveling with our pet. The Accommodation Fee was higher because we had a pet, but staying at the Hotel we had long dreamed of was wonderful, and we made the happiest memories. Our Room had an open-air bath and a bathing tub for dogs as well, and after filling it with five buckets of Onsen water, our pet looked warm and very comfortable. Before going to bed, we soaked once more in the Room’s open-air bath while watching a subtitled foreign film on the Room’s TV through the glass window, enjoying an extraordinary sense of luxury. We also loved the meals—Japanese cuisine is our favorite—and we were both very satisfied. I hope to visit again someday, and next time I would definitely like to stay in the main building where dogs are not allowed—those lingering feelings remain with me. Thank you very much for all your thoughtful care during this trip.
おつねさｎ 9/12/2026As we did last year, my elderly parents and my siblings and I stayed here again.It’s a not-too-large Facility, and it was wonderful to have a clean, comfortable Room with a private open-air bath. The water in the open-air bath flows continuously in generous volume, which was fantastic.My father, who has difficulty walking and finds it hard to get to the large public bath, was able to fully enjoy his beloved Onsen in the bath in our Room and was very happy.We enjoyed dinner as well, but last year we had a private dining room, so that aspect was better last year.We also enjoyed the Diamond benefit of a private Onsen together with my mother.My parents in their 80s and 90s also said, “If we can stay healthy, we’d like to come again,” so I hope we can visit again.

Grand Opening in December 2024 The Onsen open-air bath attached rooms "Hanare Yashiroi" have been reborn as a total of 21 rooms on the "Standard Floor" from the 5th to the 7th floor and the "Luxury Floor" from the 8th to the 10th floor. "Hanare Yashiroi," our most popular room, has been loved by many guests. Please enjoy an extraordinary moment while overlooking the magnificent Lake Biwa on the "Luxury Floor" from the 8th to the 10th floor.
"Yashiroi" Lounge
In the exclusive lounge, we offer a variety of complimentary drinks. Additionally, we have foot baths, a library, and a selection of yukata and samue. Enjoy your time in a relaxed atmosphere, wearing your favorite attire, and spend quality moments with your loved ones. Meals are served in a dedicated dining area, featuring kaiseki cuisine that delicately highlights the blessings of Omi.
Our property offers rooms such as the "Tsukishintei Onsen Hinoki Bath Japanese Room" and the "Open-air Bath Japanese Room" with beautiful views of Lake Biwa, as well as the exclusive "Healing Room." We also have rooms in the separate building "Yashiroi," which opened in 2013. Each room is uniquely designed with different furnishings and views for your enjoyment. Please relax and enjoy your stay.
Ogoto Onsen is said to have been opened by Saicho about 1,200 years ago, and since then it has healed many travelers. Today, it continues to be loved by many people as a scenic lakeside spot and as a retreat in the backwoods of Otsu and Kyoto.
