The "segai-dashi beam construction" creates a beautiful landscape with large white walls and black beams. It recreates the traditional architectural style that has been passed down since the Edo period when it was founded. From the moment you step through the entrance, you are welcomed by a space with a pure Japanese atmosphere. A quiet time flows within the facility, making it hard to believe it's in the center of an Onsen town.

    You can enjoy the gentle Yubatake Onsen in the calm, refined atmosphere of a long-established Ryokan.The food is delicious, but above all, the staff are exceptionally kind. Every visit leaves me impressed by their outstanding service.At check-out, the gracious proprietress sees you off with great care, and you can truly feel how her attentiveness is reflected throughout the entire team.

  • It was very relaxing.

    It was my first stay in 20 years, and it was a truly wonderful experience. While the property shows the charm of age, everything was meticulously cleaned, and there were no issues at all. Two things especially stood out to me. First, the staff service: they never stopped smiling, and their attentive hospitality—anticipating guests’ needs in a pleasant way—was impressive. The international staff were also well trained, and I could really feel the pride and strength of this long-established Ryokan. Second, the cuisine: rather than being overly formal or delicately subtle, it was thoughtfully crafted with a strong focus on quality within budget, offering a well-balanced menu with clear contrasts in flavor. It paired wonderfully with both sake and rice, and I could truly feel their spirit of hospitality. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

Our facility is located in a prime location, just a 1-minute walk from Yubatake, allowing us to pour the spring water into our baths in its best condition without any deterioration in quality due to exposure to air.

    Kusatsu is a highland town at an elevation of 1,200 meters—almost twice the height of Tokyo Skytree.
    Even during the hottest months of July and August, the average temperature is around 18°C, and it rarely exceeds 30°C.
    Cool and refreshing even in summer, it’s easy to see why Kusatsu is often called “the Tyrol of Japan.”

    A few tips to help you enjoy Kusatsu in summer:
    ・Please expect cool weather even in summer (temperatures above 30°C are rare).
    ・We recommend bringing a light jacket or something to layer, just in case.
    ・Mornings and evenings can be especially chilly—please sleep with the windows closed and avoid dressing too lightly.

    Summer in Kusatsu feels like -7°C! Enjoy a cool stay at 1,200 meters above sea level!

○ JR Joetsu and Agatsuma Line (Special Express Kusatsu) takes 3 hours from Ueno.
○ JR Joetsu Shinkansen (transfer to Agatsuma Line at Takasaki) takes 2 hours and 40 minutes from Tokyo.
○ Disembark at Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi Station on the JP Agatsuma Line, then take the JR bus to the Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal.
