Enjoy Japanese cuisine and Austrian wine at Kameoka Yunohana Onsen.

Beyond the thatched gate nestled in the mountains, seasonal mountain and field flowers bloom, welcoming you with the nostalgic warmth of a beloved hometown. Sumiyaki Kifuan.

  • My 84-year-old mother wanted to eat conger eel, so the three of us visited together with my niece. We had a Reservation for the Yama-no-Iori Room, but since there was a cancellation, we were upgraded to a Room with an open-air bath, which made us very happy. There were many international staff members, and their service was truly pleasant and welcoming. The food was consistently delicious as always—nothing to complain about. We enjoyed conger eel in many different dishes: sashimi, grilled, shabu-shabu, sukiyaki, and more. The salt-grilled sweetfish was also excellent, and it was my first time trying sweetfish rice—delicious and very satisfying. My mother and I have visited several times before; it was my niece’s first visit, but she really liked it too, which we were glad to see. Just one thing: my niece said the pillow was a bit low, which was the only disappointment. We will be back again in October for the matsutake dishes with three families—my parents’ family and my sister and her husband’s family as well. Thank you very much!

  • We visit every year as a family. When our children were little, they used to avoid certain foods, but after trying dishes served at Sumiya, they found them delicious. Since then, those foods have become favorites—and now they’re among their top choices. Now that the kids are older, we enjoyed the adult meal course this year. The Onsen is also outstanding. The water feels smooth and light, and the temperature is comfortable—not too hot. The open-air bath has a different charm depending on the weather, and it’s wonderful even in the rain.We alternated between the large public bath and the in-Room bath and felt truly refreshed. In summer there is also an outdoor pool, which we were able to use privately—something we really appreciate when traveling with children. The kids are already saying they want to come again. It’s an Accommodation with a refined atmosphere, but it’s also considerate toward children, so I highly recommend it for family stays as well.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Nestled in the gentle embrace of the mountains, this corner of the outskirts of Kyoto offers a serene retreat. Step through the thatched gate, and a moment of relaxation unfolds. Traditional craftsmanship, rammed earth walls, and a plastered "okudo-san" stove... At Sumiya Kiho-an, you can discover the "nostalgic Kyoto." While inheriting the traditions preserved by our predecessors, Sumiya Kiho-an also incorporates its own "expertise" and "creativity." The rammed earth walls and plastered "okudo-san" stove, born from this blend, are must-sees. Enjoy your journey through Kyoto at a leisurely pace.

About Hygiene Measures
At Sumiya Kiho-an, we are taking the following measures to ensure a safe and comfortable stay for all our guests as part of our efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other infections. 【Facility Measures】 ■ Ventilation We regularly ventilate areas such as the lobby, rooms, dining spaces, and shared facilities to maintain clean air. ■ Disinfection & Sanitization - Hand sanitizers are placed throughout the facility, including in the lobby, elevator halls, and shared spaces. - During cleaning, we disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs in rooms and shared areas. - In the kitchen area, we use chlorine-based solutions, alcohol-based sanitizers, and electrolyzed water (strongly acidic water) to disinfect spaces, cooking utensils, and staff hands. ■ Breakfast Service - For breakfast service at this time: instead of buffet-style self-serving from large dishes (obanzai), meals are individually plated for each guest. 【Hygiene Management for Staff】 Our staff strictly adhere to hygiene practices such as handwashing, gargling, personal disinfection measures. We monitor their health conditions through reporting any fever or illness symptoms from home with instructions for staying home if unwell. Staff may wear masks while serving guests; thank you for your understanding.
