Kyoto Yunohana Onsen Sumiya Kiho-an
Kyoto Prefecture/KameokaEnjoy Japanese cuisine and Austrian wine at Kameoka Yunohana Onsen.
Beyond the thatched gate nestled in the mountains, seasonal mountain and field flowers bloom, welcoming you with the nostalgic warmth of a beloved hometown. Sumiyaki Kifuan.
My 84-year-old mother wanted to eat conger eel, so the three of us visited together with my niece. We had a Reservation for the Yama-no-Iori Room, but since there was a cancellation, we were upgraded to a Room with an open-air bath, which made us very happy. There were many international staff members, and their service was truly pleasant and welcoming. The food was consistently delicious as always—nothing to complain about. We enjoyed conger eel in many different dishes: sashimi, grilled, shabu-shabu, sukiyaki, and more. The salt-grilled sweetfish was also excellent, and it was my first time trying sweetfish rice—delicious and very satisfying. My mother and I have visited several times before; it was my niece’s first visit, but she really liked it too, which we were glad to see. Just one thing: my niece said the pillow was a bit low, which was the only disappointment. We will be back again in October for the matsutake dishes with three families—my parents’ family and my sister and her husband’s family as well. Thank you very much!
scorpio1120 8/14/2026We visit every year as a family. When our children were little, they used to avoid certain foods, but after trying dishes served at Sumiya, they found them delicious. Since then, those foods have become favorites—and now they’re among their top choices. Now that the kids are older, we enjoyed the adult meal course this year. The Onsen is also outstanding. The water feels smooth and light, and the temperature is comfortable—not too hot. The open-air bath has a different charm depending on the weather, and it’s wonderful even in the rain.We alternated between the large public bath and the in-Room bath and felt truly refreshed. In summer there is also an outdoor pool, which we were able to use privately—something we really appreciate when traveling with children. The kids are already saying they want to come again. It’s an Accommodation with a refined atmosphere, but it’s also considerate toward children, so I highly recommend it for family stays as well.

Introduction of the Accommodation
Nestled in the gentle embrace of the mountains, this corner of the outskirts of Kyoto offers a serene retreat. Step through the thatched gate, and a moment of relaxation unfolds. Traditional craftsmanship, rammed earth walls, and a plastered "okudo-san" stove... At Sumiya Kiho-an, you can discover the "nostalgic Kyoto." While inheriting the traditions preserved by our predecessors, Sumiya Kiho-an also incorporates its own "expertise" and "creativity." The rammed earth walls and plastered "okudo-san" stove, born from this blend, are must-sees. Enjoy your journey through Kyoto at a leisurely pace.

Mountain Terrace, Japanese-style Room
At the end of July 2015, a new room was introduced. Featuring a spacious terrace facing the mountains and a comfortable bathtub. An open-air bath with natural Onsen. Surrounded by trees, you can enjoy a wonderful time filled with negative ions while listening to the sounds of birds, the scent of soil, and the sound of the wind. There are two room types available: "Japanese modern-style twin bedroom" and "Calm Japanese-style room."

Traditional Kyoto cuisine, preserving and passing down techniques and flavors.
Winter Solstice, New Year's Day, Beginning of Spring, Doll Festival, Cherry Blossom Viewing, Boys' Festival, Gion Festival, Double Ninth Festival, Beginning of Winter, and more. We present the seasons through each dish, from appetizers and soups to main courses, using seasonal ingredients and traditional events. Enjoy Kaiseki cuisine, delicately and beautifully prepared by Kyoto chefs.

The Onsen, continuously flowing from the earth, is rich in minerals, offering a soft water quality that helps balance hormones. Surrounded by the green breeze, immerse yourself in the soothing waters. Time passes gently, and your heart feels at ease.

Enjoy a comfortable day with the synergistic effects of "spa therapy" by soaking in the soft waters of Yunohana Onsen and the ancient wisdom of "Ayurveda."
