Right next to Yasaka Shrine. A quietly tucked-away chef-run Accommodation filled with the gentle scent of yuzu.
A Japanese auberge serving cuisine that lets you savor Kyoto’s four seasons with all five senses. Step inside to a dignified stillness where the sound of a waterfall echoes, making the bustle of Gion feel far away. There are 8 Rooms in total, each with a calm atmosphere and a gentle yuzu fragrance in the air. Antique chests, understated wildflowers, and seasonal touches—decor is kept minimal, creating an inviting space focused purely on comfort. On the first floor, we offer a hinoki bath with yuzu: yellow yuzu in winter and green yuzu in summer. Soothe your travel fatigue as you soak in a bath filled with plenty of fresh yuzu.
I stayed for one night last autumn and it was amazing, so this time I stayed for two nights. For both breakfast and dinner on the first and second days, they prepared different menus each day. Everything was absolutely delicious! The Ai Room was spacious, and the fresh flowers were adorable and beautiful. After dinner, floating yuzu in the cypress bath and soaking slowly was a blissful moment that made me forget everyday life. The yuzu served with the meals and in the bath were large and impressive. It’s in a prime location in Kyoto, right next to Yasaka Shrine, with an excellent atmosphere. Transportation is convenient, making it an easy base for sightseeing. It makes you want to stay again and again! I’ll be back!
monro1123 3/24/2026I first stayed here on New Year’s Day last year, and since I live alone, I was truly delighted to enjoy traditional New Year’s dishes. The warm hospitality made me a big fan. Ever since then, whenever I stay in Kyoto, I always choose Yuzuya Ryokan. I’ve already visited twice this year, and it feels like coming home each time. I’m planning to stay again in August, and I’m looking forward to treating myself to the delicious meals and the yuzu bath.

Introduction of the Accommodation

There are nine Rooms in total. Each offers a calm atmosphere with a subtle hint of yuzu in the air. Antique chests, simple wildflowers, and seasonal touches welcome you.

On the first floor of Kyo is the dining venue “Yuzuya Ryokan Isshinkyo.” We use seasonal ingredients from across Japan, including those at their peak and those in their final season. In particular, Kyoto vegetables and Mizuo yuzu, known as the “phantom yuzu,” as well as the rare local specialty Kyoto beef. Enjoy our yuzu hot pot, Kyoto beef pressed sushi, seasonal kaiseki cuisine, and rice cooked in a traditional kamado stove. Please come and savor them.

First, place yuzu citrus in the hinoki cypress bath and soothe your travel fatigue. We also provide handmade yuzu soap. The refreshing yuzu aroma promotes relaxation, while its moisturizing properties leave your skin feeling soft and hydrated.

Once you pass through the gate, it feels like a mountain retreat in the old capital. The bustle of Gion seems far away, replaced by crisp, tranquil air and a deep, rustic calm that evokes a sense of nostalgia—like returning to a place you once visited long ago.
