Gamagori Classic Hotel
Aichi Prefecture/GamagoriA classic Hotel perched on a hilltop with panoramic views of Takeshima Island floating in Mikawa Bay.
Along with its elegant, castle-inspired exterior, the interiors and furnishings showcase the warm, refined Art Deco style inherited from the former Gamagori Hotel tradition. Gamagori Classic Hotel is located at the heart of Mikawa Bay Quasi-National Park, embraced by the Atsumi Peninsula and Chita Peninsula. Just in front lies Takeshima Island, a designated Natural Monument, along with other lush green islets scattered across the bay. The gently sloping shoreline changes beautifully with the tides. All year round, guests enjoy it as a base for strolls and sightseeing around Tokai, as well as for banquets, dining gatherings, weddings, and wedding receptions.
I love classic Hotels, and I first learned about this Hotel last year when I visited Yaotomi Shrine on Takeshima (as a day trip).I’d been hoping to stay here someday, so I was able to make it happen this time by taking advantage of a special offer. The guest room has been renovated with a modern design while preserving the charm of a classic Hotel, and I was captivated by the beautiful details. After walking all day in Nagoya, my tired body was completely refreshed. The bathroom was also very user-friendly—I ended up taking a bath twice, at night and again in the morning.I also enjoyed an early-morning tea time on the lounge terrace overlooking Takeshima, followed by an authentic breakfast served on beautiful silverware—very satisfying. All of the staff were extremely courteous, and I have no complaints at all.If I had to mention one thing… there is no Shuttle Service from Gamagori Station, so you’ll need to take a taxi or walk (just under 15 minutes). I understand it may be unavoidable, but I couldn’t help wishing there were some good alternative.
ユルワ 7/10/2026This was my first stay at Gamagori Classic Hotel. The Hotel is in a very scenic location overlooking Takeshima, and it was wonderfully relaxing. The meals were delicious and I felt they were reasonably priced. As one of the Japan Classic Hotels, the atmosphere was outstanding. However, the Room air conditioner did not work very well and it took quite a long time to cool down. I felt this is an area for improvement. The temperature shown on the air conditioner remained at 27°C until the end of my stay.

A historic and precious building and furnishings, with timeless dignity and hospitality
Gamagori Classic Hotel traces its origins to the former Gamagori Hotel, designated as a First International Tourist Hotel. Along with its magnificent castle-like exterior, it preserves a classical and intellectual Art Deco interior and furnishings to this day. It is also a member of the “Japan Classic Hotel Association,” formed by nine hotels that meet criteria such as recognition as cultural properties or industrial heritage sites, and its prewar architecture and decorative style are highly regarded. We welcome you with guest rooms once loved by historical figures, scenic views, exquisite cuisine, and refined hospitality.

A prime location with panoramic views of the tranquil Mikawa Bay.
Gamagori Classic Hotel is located atop a gentle hill rising at the heart of Mikawa Bay Quasi-National Park, embraced by the Atsumi and Chita Peninsulas. From here, you can enjoy sweeping views of the calm waters of Mikawa Bay, dotted with lush islands including Takeshima, a nationally designated Natural Monument. Set on a 10,000-tsubo estate, the grounds offer ever-changing scenery throughout the year—cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring, fresh greenery in early summer, and vibrant autumn foliage.

Cuisine cherished by renowned cultural figures throughout history
Since the Edo period, the Mikawa region has flourished with a rich fermentation culture, producing miso, mirin, soy sauce, and more. We carefully prepare fresh seafood from Mikawa Bay right before you and locally grown seasonal vegetables with refined local seasonings shaped by generations of tradition. Enjoy exceptional cuisine that highlights the natural flavors of each ingredient—cherished by many cultural figures over the years.

Timeless beauty loved across generations—a place where memories live on
