Since ancient times, the tranquil village of Sonohara has warmly welcomed travelers. The Amikake Mountain behind it reflects the elegance and poetic beauty of the four seasons like a natural painting. Passing through the main gate, Ibishamon, along the clear stream, a garden rich in emotion with Sukiya-style architecture and colors that change beautifully with the seasons unfolds. The cuisine is flavorful kaiseki dishes. The onsen is a natural hot spring known for its skin-beautifying properties.

    The Onsen was outstanding, the hospitality was exceptional, and we found a truly wonderful Accommodation.The coffee we were served was authentic and incredibly delicious.It seems the space is designed so you can relax without worrying about time.However, not being able to find a clock anywhere was a bit inconvenient.Thank you for taking such good care of us.

  • A Relaxing Stay with Warm Hospitality

    I stayed here during a Golden Week trip.From the moment I stepped inside, the calm atmosphere helped me unwind and forget about everyday life. The interior design—especially the Noh stage—was wonderful, creating a space that felt both extraordinary and somehow nostalgic and soothing.The Room was comfortable and very clean, and I was able to enjoy the Onsen at a relaxed pace. The meals made great use of seasonal ingredients; each dish was carefully prepared, and everything was delicious. I was also impressed by the warm hospitality of the staff—their attentive yet unobtrusive service made my stay very comfortable.One small point: only two bottled waters were provided in the Room, and additional bottles were charged. Recently, more Accommodations have been enhancing their beverage offerings, so improving this would make stays even more comfortable.Other than that, I was very satisfied, and I would love to stay again when visiting Minami-Shinshu. Thank you very much.

    Kuriya no Bureiko Festival (September 2026)
    Achi Village, Shimoina District, Nagano Prefecture has long been home to the traditional “Kuriya no Bureiko” festival.
    This year it will be held from 9/17 to 9/27.
    Passed down through generations in this area, the festival features daily performances at Kuriya Hachimansha Shrine, including taiko drums, koto, shamisen, and other traditional Japanese arts.
    “Kuriya no Bureiko” is an annual autumn harvest thanksgiving festival where people express gratitude for the season’s bounty and enjoy sacred performances dedicated to the deities together with the gods.
    While people often pray for blessings in everyday life, this festival is filled with a spirit of giving thanks for the harvest. Over an extended period, dedication dances are offered to the deities every night.
    The nighttime shrine stage creates a magical atmosphere. Visitors can join local residents in giving thanks for nature’s gifts and sharing time with the gods—an experience of this ancient “bureiko” tradition.

    *During the event period, performances on our Noh stage will be suspended. Instead, we will escort you to “Kuriya no Bureiko.” Enjoy a memorable and enchanting evening available only during this time.

    *If you plan to visit Kuriya no Bureiko after dinner during your stay,
    we can arrange your dinner to start at 17:30.
    (Applications are accepted even on the day.)

    Shinano Hiei Kojo-in is a historic temple located less than a 10-minute drive from Hirugami Onsen Village.

    Kojo-in was founded by Saicho (Dengyo Daishi), founder of the Tendai sect. To assist travelers crossing Misaka Pass—once considered the most difficult section of the Tosan-do route—he established Kosa-in on the Gifu side and Kojo-in on the Nagano side.

    Today, the head priest offers Dharma talks as well as zazen meditation and sutra copying experiences. We recommend visiting before or after your trip. (*Advance Reservation required)
