A Relaxing Stay with Warm Hospitality
I stayed here during a Golden Week trip. From the moment I stepped inside, the calm atmosphere helped me unwind and forget about everyday life. The interior design—especially the Noh stage—was wonderful, creating a space that felt both extraordinary and somehow nostalgic and soothing. The Room was comfortable and very clean, and I was able to enjoy the Onsen at a relaxed pace. The meals made great use of seasonal ingredients; each dish was carefully prepared, and everything was delicious. I was also impressed by the warm hospitality of the staff—their attentive yet unobtrusive service made my stay very comfortable. One small point: only two bottled waters were provided in the Room, and additional bottles were charged. Recently, more Accommodations have been enhancing their beverage offerings, so improving this would make stays even more comfortable. Other than that, I was very satisfied, and I would love to stay again when visiting Minami-Shinshu. Thank you very much.

Another Accommodation I’d love to stay at again.
The Onsen was outstanding, the hospitality was exceptional, and we found a truly wonderful Accommodation. The coffee we were served was authentic and incredibly delicious. It seems the space is designed so you can relax without worrying about time. However, not being able to find a clock anywhere was a bit inconvenient. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

Thank you very much!
Both the meals and the Onsen were wonderful. We also asked to switch breakfast to the famous Tanka-zen set, and it was outstanding in both presentation and flavor. The Onsen had highly alkaline water that left our skin feeling smooth. Dinner was very satisfying in both quantity and quality, and the grilled ayu was cooked perfectly. The staff provided excellent service, making this a Ryokan we would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

A traditional-style accommodation in every sense.
First, what I found disappointing * There was no announcement of the Noh performance time (I only learned about it from a conversation at the next table during dinner), so I ended up joining partway through. * At breakfast, even after entering the venue, the staff neither greeted me nor guided me to a seat. I was confused and had to call out before someone finally came. * At breakfast, everything except the fish and miso soup had already been set on the table, and the rice porridge was completely cold. Since white rice is available, it would be better to let guests choose one and serve it warm rather than offering cold porridge. Neither dinner nor breakfast had anything I found particularly delicious. * The large public bath and private baths always had many used towels left around, with hair scattered on the floor. There was also a lot of hair floating in the open-air bath. I understand there may be staffing shortages, but I would like more attention paid to hygiene. * Coffee costs extra (1,100 yen). Considering this Accommodation’s pricing, it would be better if guests could at least have coffee in their Room without an additional charge. * The Room bed mattress was surprisingly made of three separate sections; my body sank in and it was quite uncomfortable to sleep on. What I liked * Check-in and check-out were handled efficiently and very smoothly. * A few days before my stay, I received a courteous message/contact from you. * The Noh performance was enjoyable and could be one point of differentiation from other Ryokan. Even if you value tradition, I believe service standards should also evolve with the times.

The hot water was great.
Everything was very clean, and I had a comfortable stay. The staff were also very kind and helpful. A few things I noticed… I asked for the bamboo shoot rice from dinner to be made into rice balls as a late-night snack, but they were made without salt, so they didn’t taste good. Also, it was disappointing that the breakfast porridge and rice, grilled fish, and omelet were all cold. The miso soup also had a weak broth and wasn’t very good.

An Accommodation for Adults to Enjoy a Relaxing Getaway
I stayed here to coincide with the hanamomo (peach blossom) season in Hirugami Onsen. In a word, this Accommodation is a calm, adults-only retreat. The baths are alkaline and pleasantly silky, but perhaps because large stones are a feature, there were huge boulders in the bath area as well, which felt a bit imposing. Dinner was very satisfying, with many carefully prepared dishes served one by one. The performance on the Noh stage was Japanese taiko drums that day and was wonderfully powerful. It was hard to find the parking lot, and while there was a tea set in the Room, there was no coffee provided—both points could be improved. The staff were all excellent with warm smiles, and I think this is a top-class Accommodation for enjoying a relaxed adult getaway.

The young staff were wonderful.
I stayed here when visiting Hanamomo no Sato. They were waiting for me outside at my expected arrival time and provided valet parking. The staff who assisted with meals were also very pleasant, and the in-Room dining was even more enjoyable. Including the male staff member who guided me to the night tour bus stop, every staff member’s smiles and attentive service made this an even more wonderful stay. The hot spring water quality was excellent, and the renovated guest Room was comfortable—this Accommodation exceeded my expectations. The Diamond Member benefits were also very good. Thank you very much.

We had a truly wonderful stay.
We visited during the hanamomo (flowering peach) season, and it made us want to return both to the Accommodation and to the Hirugami Onsen area. The Accommodation’s silky alkaline hot spring water was wonderful, and the meals were also very delicious. Above all, watching kyogen for the first time on an authentic Noh stage after dinner was a truly valuable experience. It changed how I think about traditional performing arts. My wife and I are even talking about visiting a Noh theater in Tokyo. In addition, Hirugami Onsen’s “water quality,” hanamomo blossoms, stargazing, and morning market are excellent tourism resources and could serve as a model for other hot spring areas.

The hot spring was wonderful.
The stage events were great, and the flowers were wonderful. After two nights, the meals started to feel similar, and I would have appreciated a bit more consideration. The in-Room bath had excellent water quality and was very relaxing.

A Relaxing Accommodation
I stayed at this Accommodation to enjoy cherry blossoms, flowering peach blossoms, Asian skunk cabbage, and Onsen. Overall, it was a quiet Accommodation with a calm and pleasant atmosphere. I would like to visit again if I have the chance. ・Hospitality and service: I originally made a Reservation one week in advance, but something came up at the last minute and I contacted the Accommodation thinking I might need to Cancel the Reservation. They suggested that I Change the Reservation since availability had opened up for the following week, which is why I stayed this time. The phone support was kind and courteous, which gave me a good impression and raised my expectations before arriving. At both arrival and departure, staff came out to greet me at the entrance and see me off, which felt very attentive. Inside as well, staff kept a comfortable distance, which I appreciated. ・Onsen / baths: Despite having only 17 rooms, both the large public bath and the private bath were spacious. The water had a smooth, silky feel that left my skin soft. ・Facility / amenities: The hallways had a faint incense scent that was soothing. The Noh stage was impressive. After dinner there was also a live kyogen performance, which we enjoyed. ・Meals: When I mentioned ingredients I do not eat, they kindly accommodated my request—thank you for making changes for me. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious with seasoning that was neither too light nor too strong. ・Guest room / amenities: There was a moss garden outside our Room, and the interior had a relaxing atmosphere. It would be even better if coffee were provided (even without something as elaborate as a Nespresso machine).

The Room and staff are good, but the food is not.
I stayed at Sekitaitei Ishida, which I consider the best Accommodation in Hirugami Onsen. Unfortunately it was raining, but the valet parking was a big help. As soon as you enter, you’re welcomed by a Noh stage. It was beautifully decorated with many Hina dolls. A lovely touch. During check-in, we were treated to welcome drinks and then shown to our Room. The staff were friendly and made it easy to relax. Dinner started at 6:00 p.m., so I took an Onsen bath and took my time beforehand. I had high expectations for dinner in the dining area. We also ordered a sake tasting set and Shinshu beef baked in a salt crust. But when I looked at the menu, for some reason more than half of it was seafood. Local items were basically just Shinshu salmon and Shinshu beef? Clams, crab, firefly squid, shrimp, sea bream, tilefish, cherry sea bream, icefish, and more. I wonder how many guests come to a mountain Accommodation in Nagano expecting seafood like this. If you want seafood around Nagoya, I think most people would go to Minamichita or the Sea of Japan coast instead. To be honest, the fish wasn’t at an especially high level either, which left me disappointed. The Shinshu beef was tender, but I felt it lacked depth of flavor in the meat itself as well. Breakfast was tasty overall, but it would have left a better impression without the tuna with grated yam—serving it actually lowered my impression rather than improving it. I’m glad we requested the sake comparison hosted by a certified sake sommelier (kikizakeshi). The conversation was enjoyable and the sake really was excellent—it made me appreciate Nagano’s sake all over again. How about reconsidering the menu once more? If things improve, I’d like to return.

Stink Bug Inn Ishida
I was excited to see the luxurious Room and the Noh stage, but just as I was shown to my Room and tried to relax, I found stink bugs both outside and inside the window.\nI immediately called the front desk to request removal. Thinking it could become a serious issue, it unfortunately did—I called the front desk four times before going to sleep.\nIn the end, they left duct tape in the Room, and I removed six myself. By morning, I had caught more than 20 in the Room.\nAlthough it was because of insects, it made me feel very uncomfortable.\nIf you plan to stay during cherry blossom season, please be careful.

An Accommodation I’d Like to Visit Again
This Accommodation was full of thoughtful seasonal touches and warm hospitality. A hot-water bottle was prepared in the futon, and all the staff valued each conversation with care… The cherry blossoms were not yet in full bloom, but wild mountain cherry trees were starting to flower here and there around Achi Village, making it feel like stepping into a folktale. It truly refreshed my spirit!

The best accommodation
As a big Kyogen fan, I chose to stay here because it has a Noh stage and the Room names are Kyogen plays—something I’d wanted to experience at least once. As soon as I parked at the impressive front gate drop-off area, a staff member came right away and moved my car to the side parking lot. Their modern Western-style uniform blended perfectly with this stylish Japanese Ryokan and looked wonderful. When you step inside the entrance—wow! There is a magnificent Noh stage complete with both the bridgeway and seating, an irresistible sight for any Kyogen lover. This time was during the Hina doll display season, so unfortunately I couldn’t watch Kyogen or Japanese taiko performances, but the Hina dolls were so beautiful that I found myself completely absorbed. In front of the Noh stage, we were welcomed with amazake soda and traditional sweets—perfect hospitality to mark the start of an extraordinary stay. The staff member assisting us was very charming, and their service was excellent. Whenever we passed other staff in the corridors, they greeted us brightly with “Hello,” in such a natural way—it felt genuinely pleasant. The Room was beautifully prepared and even had a garden view, plus a kotatsu table, so before dinner I could enjoy the Onsen and then relax under the kotatsu. I’d known how great Hirugami Onsen is for some time, and here too there were thoughtful touches like rocks arranged in the indoor bath, hot spring water flowing from its source, and an open-air bath as well—the silky water quality felt truly wonderful. There is also a relaxation space just outside the large public bath; sipping detox water while looking out at the garden was incredibly soothing. Both dinner and breakfast were carefully crafted—dinner had many dishes, and breakfast began with gentle rice porridge that was easy on the stomach—and everything was delicious. With only 17 Rooms across 3,000 tsubo of grounds (about 9,900 m²), I hardly ran into other guests in the corridors; even in the large public bath I often had it to myself, which made it easy to soak slowly and unwind. Although nights were still quite cold, they placed hot-water bottles in my bed during dinner time so I could sleep soundly until morning. The hospitality and cuisine were outstanding, and since both Onsen baths had such excellent water quality (I went four times!), it was truly satisfying in every way. For Kyogen fans especially—the fact that Rooms are named after Kyogen plays and there’s an actual Noh stage made me genuinely happy—this Accommodation is superb overall, so I definitely want to stay again. Next time, I would love to watch Kyogen on that Noh stage if possible.

This was my first st...
This was my first stay at the accommodation. The onsen and customer service were excellent, and I was satisfied overall. The meals were simple but delicious. However, while the concept of using local ingredients is appreciated, the dishes didn’t feel distinctly local, so it was hard to identify a main dish. It would have been nice to experience traditional countryside cuisine prepared by top chefs, such as crispy pickled plums, walnut miso, game meat dishes, dumpling soup, soba porridge, or desserts made with tea from Nakaisamurai in true Southern Shinshu style. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, this is a wonderful accommodation that I would love to visit again if given the chance.

Stayed at Hirugami O...
Stayed at Hirugami Onsen for two nights, with the first night at Gentake and the second night here at Sekitaitei Ishida. From the ambiance of the lobby to the hospitality, this Ryokan was truly exceptional. The baths, including private family baths, were not reservation-based and could be used freely without any additional charge, which was very convenient. Small touches like placing a hot water bottle on the bed or assisting with luggage during breakfast before check-out showed great attention to detail and hospitality. The meals were individually delicious; however, for a couple in their 40s, slightly more volume would have been perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the baths—using both our room's open-air bath and family baths over five times! Looking forward to visiting again. Thank you very much!

We recently stayed as a family of four. The attentive service and responsiveness of the staff were exceptional, allowing us to have a comfortable stay. Both the meals and the Room were excellent, and we would love to visit again. If I may make one suggestion, having tea prepared in the Room would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much to all the staff!

First Visit to Hirugami Onsen
Planning our first visit to Hirugami Onsen during the beautiful autumn foliage season turned out to be a perfect choice with Sekitaitei Ishida. We enjoyed the warm hospitality of the staff and had a relaxing time in the pleasant Onsen. The meals, served in a private room at just the right timing, were delicious, and conversations with the staff became cherished memories. Experiencing Kyogen for the first time after dinner was unforgettable as well. With convenient access to the morning market, we made great use of our stay. We look forward to visiting again. Thank you very much!

Architecture Comparable to Important Cultural Properties
A luxurious single-story accommodation with only 17 rooms on a spacious property. Guests are welcomed by an impressive "samurai residence-style" gate at the entrance, and upon entering the reception area, they are greeted by a "large stone garden" and an authentic Noh stage that leaves a striking impression. The interior features rooms, baths, dining areas, and more arranged along a rectangular corridor. Throughout the facility, small stone and moss gardens create an atmosphere reminiscent of a museum or cultural heritage site. Stayed in the "Chidori" room with beds in Japanese-style decor; while slightly dated in design, it was well-equipped and comfortable. Meals were served in semi-private dining spaces for both dinner and breakfast—excellent quality and quantity ensured satisfaction. Unfortunately, due to rain, stargazing was not possible; however, enjoyed a 50-minute Kyogen performance starting at 8:30 PM with clear explanations that showcased highly skilled artistry. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, leaving a positive impression overall. This is truly a high-quality accommodation worth revisiting on a clear night to experience stargazing as intended.

It was excellent.
The staff were kind and created a warm, relaxing atmosphere. We especially appreciated the new staff member who took care of our family during the four meals we had. Despite being new, they provided calm and attentive service, engaging with us politely in conversation, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Thank you very much. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were thoughtfully prepared with great attention to detail and creativity. The variety of dishes was impressive, and everything was delicious. We enjoyed our meals in a private room with a pleasant and calming ambiance. While the building and facilities are not the newest, the overall high-quality design created a relaxed atmosphere that allowed us to enjoy our time at this accommodation fully. Our guest room featured a serene garden view that added to its comfort. However, we felt that improving the comfort of the chairs could enhance the experience further. The baths—both indoor and open-air—had perfect water temperatures that allowed us to unwind completely. The evening performance after dinner offered an extraordinary experience that became a memorable highlight for us. During stargazing activities, we greatly appreciated being provided with mats and blankets—they were incredibly useful! Other guests from different accommodations who joined on the microbus did not have these items available to them; this thoughtful gesture by Ishida-san truly stood out for us. Although it felt like time flew by quickly during our stay, we are grateful for three comfortable days here. Our family is already talking about how wonderful it would be to visit again someday!

I had a relaxing stay.
It was my first visit, and I was very satisfied with the attentiveness of all the staff. As I am currently undergoing medical treatment, I decided to stay to relax in the Onsen and regain my strength. When I informed the staff about my dietary restrictions due to illness, they made various thoughtful adjustments different from the standard course meals, which deeply moved me. Thank you once again for your kindness. I look forward to visiting again once I have recovered.

Wedding Anniversary
This was my first time visiting Hirugami Onsen. I had been looking forward to it ever since completing the Reservation. The atmosphere of the Accommodation was lovely, and both the Room and Onsen were comfortable. The meals were visually stunning, refined in taste, and absolutely delicious. I was deeply touched when the staff member in charge of our in-room dining wrote a celebratory message on the dessert plate for us. It became a memorable trip for our special day, and I am truly grateful. If given another opportunity, I would love to stay with my family again.

Exceptional Hospitality
The warm hospitality of the staff with their cheerful smiles and the delicious cuisine made for a wonderful Hirugami trip. A wonderful accommodation to visit anytime, no matter how many times you go. The head chef has changed, and the meals are now generally lightly seasoned, making them perfect for us as an elderly couple—better than ever before. The staff were very friendly and attentive, allowing us to enjoy a pleasant stay. You can truly relax here. Highly recommended if you're over 50 (but of course, it's great for younger guests too).

An Accommodation You'll Want to Visit Again
Upon arriving at the Ryokan, we were immediately captivated by 1,000 red wind chimes and a Noh stage—truly breathtaking. In the evening, we enjoyed a Kyogen performance, which was delightful. The meals were delicious, and we fully enjoyed the open-air Onsen at Hirugami Onsen. At night, we joined a stargazing tour under a sky full of stars. The staff members, many of whom were young and kind, showed great care about the weather and made our stay very comfortable. This has become an accommodation I would love to visit again. Thank you to everyone!

The Onsen is excellent.
The quality of the Onsen is excellent. Both the private baths and the large public bath are well-maintained and clean. The owner's hobby, "stones and moss," can be seen throughout the Ryokan. The staff at the accommodation have a professional yet approachable demeanor. The meals were also very delicious. If I had to point out one thing, visiting during a hot season made it harder to fully enjoy the open-air baths. This year was particularly hot, and even Hirugami Onsen did not feel as cool as expected.

Felt genuine hospitality through thoughtful attention to detail.
I stayed at Hirugami Onsen for the first time during a long-awaited vacation. The red wind chimes beautifully displayed at the entrance gently welcomed me. Since there was a stargazing tour, I was offered to adjust my dinner time when checking my reservation. I also wanted to enjoy the accommodation's event afterward, and thanks to their thoughtful guidance, I could fully enjoy both! The private dinner was served with detailed explanations about each dish, showcasing not only ingredients from Shinshu but also from various regions. It was evident that the staff were well-informed and dedicated. The Shinshu-grown Koshihikari rice was so delicious that I finished every grain. After returning in the evening, I relaxed in the lounge with a cup of coffee carefully brewed from freshly ground beans—it was exceptional. At breakfast, a small portion of porridge was served before rice, which felt unique and considerate—a warm gesture for travelers to soothe their stomachs and regain energy. This accommodation impressed me with its thoughtful touches in unexpected places. Although I accidentally broke the bottle of Shinshu sake included in my souvenir plan, the staff quickly replaced it for me—an act of kindness that left me truly grateful. I would love to visit again!
