Classical modern elegance wrapped in emotion. A place where people who love the magnificent nature of Myoko in every season gather. On December 26, 2016, the newly constructed "Premium Wing" opened! The Akakura Kanko Resort Hotel was founded in 1937 (Showa 12). Built by the Okura Zaibatsu following the Kamikochi Imperial Hotel and Kawana Hotel, it is a pioneer among Japan's Resort Hotels. The Hotel is located at an altitude of 1,000 meters, where a sea of clouds can sometimes be seen below. In addition to the timeless charm since its founding, all rooms and the Japanese restaurant were renovated in 2008. Furthermore, on December 12, 2009, a large public bath with open-air baths, a spa salon, and guest rooms with open-air Onsen were newly opened. Maintaining its historical and elegant atmosphere and the spirit of hospitality cultivated through tradition, the Hotel offers an even more comfortable and relaxing environment.

    This was my third visit this year.I enjoyed the Japanese cuisine on my previous stay, so I chose the kaiseki course again this time.When a seasoned male staff member served our meal, he said, “You visited in May last time, didn’t you?” I was truly touched that he took the time to check (and I’m sorry—I mistakenly said I came in June).The attentive service, breathtaking views, excellent hot spring water quality, spotless changing area, and beautiful interior—this Hotel is the best for me. I hope it will always remain a calm and relaxing place.

  • It was excellent.

    This is a very good Hotel.The front desk area is small, but the check-in process was smooth and the staff were pleasant.The building was also clean.Since our Room was in the Premium Wing, it was a bit of a walk.We stayed in a Room with an Onsen featuring deep water soaking.It was... amazing.The Room was spacious with high ceilings—just as the Reviews said, it’s wonderful.The amenities were great, the bed was very comfortable, and the bath allowed you to bathe standing up—simply fantastic.Dinner was at Aqua Dining.We enjoyed a wine pairing and everything was delicious.Breakfast was also buffet-style with a wide selection, and the tea porridge was especially tasty.Unfortunately it rained and it was cloudy, but my heart felt bright and clear.Thank you!This is an Accommodation I’d love to visit again.

Winter roads on the Joshinetsu Expressway and general roads require studless tires or tire chains.
Additionally, the slope leading to the Property is impassable without a four-wheel-drive vehicle due to snow and ice.
