    We had a very pleasant stay at this long-established Ryokan, with attentive service, carefully prepared dishes, spacious rooms, and tasteful furnishings that were elegant without being overdone. We especially loved the open-air bath with just the right temperature, set close to the mountains. We would definitely like to stay again.

  • A Ryokan you’ll want to return to again and again

    This was our fifth or sixth stay, and once again we had a very comfortable time. What made us especially happy was that the staff member in charge of our Room from our previous visit remembered us. They even remembered that we stayed with my mother-in-law last time, and we were truly touched by their thoughtfulness. As always, the meals were delicious, with seasonal dishes as well—everything met our expectations once again. The premium lounge was also excellent. We used it after the Onsen, and there was a wide variety of soft drinks, so even someone like me who doesn’t drink much alcohol could fully enjoy it. This is a wonderful Ryokan where you can feel warm hospitality no matter how many times you visit. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

Dinner features a seasonal kaiseki course that highlights the finest flavors of each time of year. We use an abundance of carefully selected local ingredients, and you can also feel the season through our cooking methods, tableware, and presentation. For breakfast, we offer a satisfying set meal with a generous variety of dishes featuring both mountain and sea delicacies. It pairs perfectly with freshly cooked rice made in a traditional pot using Hokkaido’s premium “Fukkurinko” brand. Savor to your heart’s content the cuisine unique to our restaurant Ryokan—beautiful to look at, like admiring the scenery of each season.

The Main Building lets you enjoy the changing seasons with views of the ridgeline of Hakone’s outer rim mountains and the pond garden spread out below. The Annex offers just five ultra-luxury guest rooms on a secluded 3,300 m² riverside valley property. Our hotel features two buildings with a total of 29 rooms. In addition, we offer a wide variety of room types to suit today’s needs, including rooms with open-air baths and Japanese-Western style rooms with beds. Choose the perfect room for celebrations, anniversaries, or seasonal family trips—tailored to your purpose, group size, and time of year.

Yugawara Onsen is the only hot spring mentioned in Japan’s oldest anthology of poetry, the “Manyoshu.” Its clear, gentle waters are a sodium-calcium chloride-sulfate spring that moisturizes the skin and warms you to the core.     As the mountains of Oku-Yugawara become wrapped in deep green,
    Tsubaki has renewed its autumn kaiseki menu starting Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

    Tsubaki’s Autumn 2026 menu is a kaiseki course that reflects, dish by dish, the ever-deepening autumn scenery of Oku-Yugawara.
    An autumn night sky, moonlight, harvest from the mountains, and blessings from the sea.
    Please take your time at Tsubaki and enjoy a relaxing moment with seasonal flavors.

    This year’s autumn theme is “Brocade Autumn Moonlight”
    It evokes the vividly colored mountains of Oku-Yugawara and the gentle moonlight that softly illuminates them.
    Savor the seasonal delicacies while also enjoying the chef’s playful touches expressed through each vessel and presentation—right to the very end.
