Established in 1878 as Japan's first full-scale Resort Hotel in Miyanoshita, Hakone, Fujiya Hotel began with a single Western-style building constructed by its founder, Sennosuke Yamaguchi. Over time, through numerous expansions and renovations, it has become a grand architectural symbol of Hakone. Having overcome many challenges, including natural disasters, much of the building was designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 1997. After more than two years of extensive renovations, the "new" Fujiya Hotel reopened in 2020. While preserving its timeless charm and design along with its spirit of hospitality, we continue to create new history as a pioneer among classic hotels to provide an even more comfortable and relaxing experience for our guests.
I had long wanted to visit the Fujiya Hotel, and I finally had the chance. Everything was wonderful—the Room, the meals, and the service—and it made me want to come back again and try a different restaurant next time. We stayed for a family birthday, so I ordered a birthday cake in advance, and thanks to your help in creating a festive atmosphere and taking photos for us, it became a truly memorable experience. Thank you very much. The Fujiya Hotel was excellent overall, but one disappointing moment was at breakfast: a female staff member in a white blazer came out through the door next to Kikka-so and walked away without acknowledging me even when I greeted her. I would like to visit again in another season.
Tabitte 8/30/2026Since the major renovation, I’ve been visiting my beloved Fujiya Hotel several times a year. This time, I stayed in the Hanagoten to celebrate my birthday. Wherever I went, the staff greeted me with “Welcome back” and “Happy Birthday,” and it truly warmed my heart. Not only does the Hotel preserve its rich heritage, but it is also steadily evolving toward its 150th anniversary—I thoroughly enjoyed THE FIJIYA HOTEL’s continued progress.

Within a site of approximately 7,600 tsubo, we offer four distinct accommodation buildings: "Main Building," "Western Pavilion," "Flower Palace," and "Forest Wing." Each features its own unique charm and comfort. Choose your preferred room to suit your taste.

Hakone Hotel Fujiya Hotel Lake View Annex
