Stayed here after visiting the Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine. Check-in is set later than usual accommodations, but as we planned to arrive after sightseeing, we reached around dusk. After a short rest, we enjoyed dinner right away. Each dish had a gentle flavor and was delightful. It seems Shimane is part of the sweet soy sauce culture! The sashimi with subtly sweet soy sauce, grilled nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch), and soybean milk miso hot pot with Shimane Wagyu were all delicious. The locally grown rice was so tasty that I ended up having multiple servings.
As it’s a small accommodation, the bath is also small without features like an open-air bath; however, the bathtub made with rare painted tiles had perfect water temperature and helped me relax for a good night's sleep until morning. The welcome drink in the fridge—a local craft beer—was also enjoyable after bathing.
The hostess shared stories about local nature and traditional Kagura performances, making it a truly enriching journey filled with charm.
