I’d been keeping an eye on this place as a summer getaway I wanted to visit someday, and I finally made it this time. It happened to be a day when temperatures had dropped across the whole country, so I wondered if it might not feel much like a cool retreat—but it was cold enough to need a jacket. The air was incredibly fresh, and I took lots of deep breaths on the balcony. It truly felt amazing—I finally understood what people mean by “the air tastes delicious.” The Room was carefully prepared and very comfortable. And the meal served at the counter felt wonderfully luxurious; with the reassuring comfort of being able to go straight to bed afterward, even the drinks tasted better. The free drinks in the lobby were also great for relaxing while enjoying the view. The weather wasn’t perfect, but we could still gaze at the stars at night, and by morning we had a beautiful view of Mt. Ontake as well. It was a lovely place that I would definitely like to visit again.

As we were traveling by train, the pick-up and drop-off service was greatly appreciated. Relaxing in a spacious, spotless traditional Japanese-style Room while enjoying tea and kintsuba was wonderful. We headed to the Onsen right away, and both the indoor bath and the herbal open-air bath were so relaxing that all our walking fatigue melted away—it was truly refreshing. The meal kept coming with dish after dish featuring local ingredients; by the time we got to the stem wasabi soba, we were already full and had to pass on the rice and soup. The dumpling soup at breakfast was also delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal. Early in the morning, from our Room window, Mt. Ontake was glowing in the sunrise... It turned into an absolutely wonderful trip. Thank you very much (bow).
