The Accommodation has a wonderful atmosphere and offers satisfaction that exceeds the price. At the entrance, there was a vending machine selling rare flash-frozen soba you can enjoy as if freshly made, as well as Matsumoto Sanzoku-yaki. They escorted me to my Room on the second floor and even carried my luggage. When I left, it was raining, but they lent me an umbrella and saw me off. Inside, the building has an extraordinary, getaway-like ambiance, with calming lights placed throughout the corridors and other areas. The toilets and washbasins are shared, but they are clean. There is also a large public bath with alternating hours for men and women, and if available, you can use a private bath at no extra charge. The water temperature is on the lukewarm side. Breakfast included many kinds of small side dishes, a large-nameko miso soup, and curry that was light yet flavorful; I heard it uses Indian spices. Next time, I’d like to try dinner as well.

We chose this hotel because (1) three of us could stay in one room and (2) it has a large public bath. After making our Reservation, we read the Reviews and added breakfast. There were so many dishes that it was almost overwhelming—in a good way. The large public bath was also great, except that it was crowded and we had to wait for a washing station. It was nice to have plenty of outlets, but there were mirrors only in the bathroom and by the entrance. If possible, I would have liked a tabletop stand mirror on the desk. That said, we were very satisfied overall, so I rated it 5 out of 5.

This was my second stay. The dinner at Ikaza, which I had on my first visit, was truly delicious, and about 80% of the reason for this stay was the food (it’s that good!). The retro furnishings and overall atmosphere of this long-established Matsumoto Hotel are also charming and full of character (some parts do feel old, but that’s part of its appeal). It’s also in a great location with easy access to Nawate Street, museums, and Matsumoto Castle, making it a very convenient Hotel. I’d love to come back again to refresh.

Not only was it conveniently located near the station, but there were also many delightful services. First, the welcome drinks available until the hot summer evenings in Matsumoto were very soothing. The complimentary Shuttle Service at Shouhou was much appreciated, and the excellent Onsen washed away my travel fatigue, allowing me to have a wonderful time. The breakfast was also outstanding: it included Shinshu specialties and a wide variety of dishes, making it easy to enjoy many different items in small portions. I almost wished my departure had been later so I could have enjoyed it even more. I would love to stay again if I have the chance.

I stayed one night in a twin Japanese-style Room in the annex. The Room was new and very clean, so I had a comfortable stay. The mattress firmness and pillow suited me well, so I slept soundly without any neck pain. Tea and welcome sweets were prepared in the lounge—the madeleines were especially delicious. The late-night chasoba was also tasty and just the right portion size. Above all, the breakfast buffet was amazing; there were so many options that if you don’t plan ahead, everything won’t fit on your plate. The pumpkin potage and the doria were particularly good. What impressed me most this time was the service. Whenever I seemed even slightly unsure, staff immediately offered help, and I was able to get to my Room smoothly. Thank you very much.

Conveniently located near the station, with plenty of options for dinner nearby, and parking close by as well. The bath was great, with two tubs at different temperatures. What I especially liked was the non-buffet breakfast—it felt like we were treated to delicious local specialties from Shinshu that we don’t often get to try. I’d love to stay again.

This was my second stay, and once again I was reminded what a truly wonderful property this is. All the staff are always smiling, quick to help, and courteous, making my stay comfortable again this time. The Onsen was exceptional—not only the quality of the water, but also the spotless interior and beautiful views made it a perfect time to unwind. And as a Dormy Inn fan, I thoroughly enjoyed the post-bath ice pops and probiotic drink at the relaxation area, as well as the famous “Yonaki Soba,” all just as delicious as ever. Whenever I stay in Matsumoto, I will definitely choose this place again!

I stayed here after a touring trip. This Hotel has a calm, refined atmosphere. The location is convenient, and above all, the breakfast venue—formerly a bank—perfectly matches Matsumoto’s history and heritage.

Having lived in Matsumoto for several years, I always choose this Hotel, which is well known locally as the city’s top luxury hotel. Because it is often used for parties by local business and political circles, the clientele is pleasant and the service is consistently high quality. I stayed during the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival, so many people from the music world were also noticeable. The Facility and Room are not brand-new, but they are clean and well maintained. I also always look forward to using the Shuttle Service to enjoy the Onsen at Hotel Shoho (a sister property). The executive lounge is comfortable as well, offering cake in the afternoon and sake, wine, and snacks after 5:30 p.m. Considering this level of quality, the price is reasonable, so I highly recommend it for its great value.

Stayed here to explore Kamikochi. I left at 5:30 a.m. for the Matsumoto Bus Terminal; although it was before dawn, I was able to get there safely in a 5-minute walk. Matsumoto Station, soba restaurant-hopping, museums, Matsumoto Castle, Ishii Miso soft-serve ice cream, izakayas, and breakfast at Matsuya are all within walking distance and easy to enjoy. I had the free late-night Kamikochi ramen on both nights. It was delicious—I even finished the soup. Very comfortable stay. I’d like to stay again.

Arrived tired... The natural Onsen bath was wonderful! The staff's courteous service was very helpful. I also enjoyed the soba noodles for breakfast.

The complimentary drinks (including plenty of alcohol) and breakfast were excellent. With those Facilities and that level of service at such a low price, it was outstanding. If I had to mention one thing, the washing area in the Onsen is small, so it would be appreciated if women’s hours could be longer.

We stayed as a parent and child for my son’s university entrance exams. ■ Warm hospitality for exam takers At check-in, the staff asked, “Are you here for exams?” and gave us a small gift. My son, who was feeling nervous, seemed relieved by the thoughtful gesture, and I’m truly grateful as a parent. ■ Excellent amenities and a comfortable Room The amenity bar was well stocked—my son especially liked the bath salts and was able to relax. I also tried a face mask for the first time in my life! Even as an older guy (haha), it felt very refreshing after a bath. We were assigned a corner connecting Room, which allowed us to maintain privacy while still being close enough—making our stay extremely comfortable. ■ Great location It’s close to the station, with plenty of restaurants nearby, so we had no trouble at all even with a Plan without dinner. ■ A small suggestion for the future Winter in Matsumoto was drier than expected, so having hand cream among the amenities would make it even better! Thanks to the kindness of all the staff, my son was able to take his exam in great condition. We would definitely like to stay again when we visit Matsumoto. Thank you very much!

Although it was just a 1-minute walk from the station, it was so quiet that we were not bothered by outside noise. The view of the Northern Alps from the window was beautiful, and our Room faced the side where we could enjoy watching the sunrise. We went to breakfast around 8:00, and it wasn’t crowded, so we could take our time and enjoy what we liked. My mother in her 70s was also pleased, saying the Japanese simmered dishes and Chinese rice porridge were delicious and not overly seasoned. I was happy that the bathtub was large, and the amenities were well stocked. If possible, I would appreciate it even more if facial lotion could be available at the front desk. I would love to stay here again when visiting Matsumoto.

I stayed here for business, and the location was extremely convenient—close to the station with many restaurants nearby. The room was neat and clean, making my stay very comfortable. The front desk staff were very kind and left a great impression. If I visit Matsumoto again, I would definitely like to stay here. Thank you very much.

I’ve stayed at about 80% of the Hotels in Matsumoto, and this one felt like a top-tier, truly great find. Major chains are reassuring because they’re standardized, but this Hotel has a distinct character you won’t find there. - The Room is extremely spacious for the price. The bath is also clean. A curtain can separate the entry corridor area from the Room. - From upper floors you can see Matsumoto Castle—great views. It’s a shame that on the Northern Alps side, apartment buildings block most of the view. - Even with a no-breakfast Plan, you can sign up at the front desk for ¥550 and enjoy a buffet worth well over ¥1,000. *You can have Nozawana pickles every morning. The menu changes daily.* - The lobby has Matsumoto folk-craft furniture tables and chairs, creating a calm atmosphere that feels very “Matsumoto.” - The staff service is excellent. - It’s a bit farther from Matsumoto Station than other Hotels, but it’s closer to Matsumoto Castle and museums, and it’s also right near the downtown area. - A convenience store is nearby. One request: it would be even better if there were a large public bath.

The light breakfast was just right. The Facility felt a bit old, but it was clean so it didn’t bother me, and it was a great deal because I could make a Reservation and visit the Onsen at an affiliated Hotel. I’d like to stay here again the next time I visit Matsumoto.

The Hotel building is not large, but it was conveniently located very close to Matsumoto Station. The Accommodation rate was affordable, the cleaning was thorough and everything was clean, and the Room had the minimum necessary amenities. The shower water pressure was also sufficient. The staff were also very pleasant at check-out. I wish there had been coffee service. If I have a chance to visit Matsumoto again, I would like to stay here again.

A clean Hotel near Matsumoto Castle. At night, you can enjoy a free beef bowl, and the breakfast was also very delicious, with curry and Nozawana rice among the options. There is also a nice bath on the first floor. I saw comments saying there aren’t many restaurants nearby, but if you walk a little toward the station, there are plenty of places to eat, so it wasn’t inconvenient. If I had to mention one downside, it would be the parking fee of 1,000 yen. When I took a morning walk to Matsumoto Castle, I noticed that nearby coin-operated parking lots are a bit cheaper. Even so, it’s an affordable and great Hotel. I will stay again.

Room: I’d appreciate a mirror at a comfortable height, or a tabletop mirror. Bath: The large hinoki-wood bath was very relaxing. Meals: The selection is minimal, but the breakfast offerings were exactly what I wanted and I was very satisfied. For the DIY fried egg station on the hot plate, it would be helpful to display an estimated cooking time—some guests were going back and forth repeatedly to check doneness. Amenities: Extra items are available at the front desk for you to take in a basket. They also had facial lotion, which was great. Location: Great. Other: There’s a wide variety of manga, and I was happy to reread Slam Dunk for the first time in a while. The building is older and doesn’t have that brand-new feel, but it’s a satisfying Hotel that gets all the important points right. I’d like to stay again. Thank you very much.
