The Accommodation was very clean and well maintained. It felt newer than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. Dinner was stylish and delicious, with plenty of great dishes—I’m glad I chose the plan with dinner included. The open-air bath was an Onsen, and it warmed me up comfortably. This is an Accommodation I can recommend, and I’d love to stay again.

I searched on a whim and found availability, so I booked without hesitation. The Plan included a private bath, and I chose the reclining bath. Lying back in the open-air bath felt amazing—I could have stayed in forever. The meals were more than I could finish, with plenty of abalone. The rice (white rice) was self-serve, which was perfect for me since I only need a small amount (I feel bad leaving food when the portion is fixed!). The view from the terrace was also refreshing, and I was able to relax with a drink in hand. I’d love to visit again if I get the chance.

There is an accommodation located just up the hill of Shiroyama at the eastern edge of the grid-like town. The narrow and steep approach road is one-way, so there’s no need to worry about oncoming traffic. Even large buses were able to make their way up. Although the entrance area of the accommodation is narrow, once you unload your luggage, valet service will take care of parking your car. Walking downhill from the accommodation leads to a main tourist spot, and it’s also conveniently close to the station, making it a great base for exploring. The interior is spacious with intricate design details. The staff are kind and attentive in their interactions. The room faces west with no tall trees obstructing the view, offering a wide panorama of the entire town that can be enjoyed both from inside and from the terrace with an open-air bath. (The view may vary depending on room orientation.) The private open-air bath in each room maintains an ideal temperature all day and night; it’s made of stone and spacious enough for a family to enjoy together. A shower room is conveniently adjacent. On our stay date, fireworks lit up Takayama city, which we watched for about an hour while leaning against the terrace railing. Meals are served in semi-private booth-style seating with sunken kotatsu tables. A quiet group of Western guests dined together in a large hall nearby.

The Kasumi crab and sashimi served at dinner were very fresh and delicious. The sound of the waves played like background music in the Room and the open-air bath, creating a truly special, out-of-the-ordinary experience. Everyone at the Accommodation was kind, making this a very satisfying trip. Thank you very much.

Because we’d mostly visited southern Onsen towns such as Zao, Akayu, and Kaminoyama, this year we decided to head north and went to Hijiori, Semi, and Ginzan. Hijiori had come up as an option before, but I had somehow assumed it was a remote, quiet, minor Onsen area. I was surprised to find it’s a rare Onsen town these days that still has real energy. While Zao and Akayu have largely turned into shuttered streets and feel like each place is operating separately for its own target guests, Hijiori Onsen has a welcoming style where the whole town hosts visitors together. The shops were lively too—I was truly moved to see that the best of the Showa-era Onsen town atmosphere still remains. I believe Yushin no Yado is family-run with additional staff; everyone was kind and warm in their service, so we felt at ease throughout our stay. And we were amazed by both the quantity and quality of the meals! It was so lavish I thought my stomach might burst—packed with mountain delicacies. I wished I had a bigger appetite. I felt bad leaving anything uneaten, and when I saw someone at a nearby table being served an enormous watermelon, I nearly despaired. However, they were clearly paying attention to how quickly we were eating; since I eat slowly, they switched mine to a smaller portion for me, which impressed me. As a couple who don’t drink alcohol much at all, strongly seasoned dishes meant to pair with drinks are delicious but make us need lots of water; if possible, it would be helpful to receive a pitcher of cold water once it’s clear we won’t be ordering beverages. The saltiness makes us thirsty—we end up drinking a lot of water and getting full before finishing the wonderful food. The private reserved Onsen in the annex offered as a guest perk had different water quality from the main bath area (which made it fun). It seems this Accommodation borrows the bathhouse of an older Ryokan that is no longer operating; because it didn’t lock properly from inside (no key), it made us nervous. Still, enjoying another type of spring water was great.

The Room atmosphere and views, as well as the free-flowing open-air bath, were excellent. The service and meals were also very good. The only downside was that the floor futon was firm and had seams, making it uncomfortable to sleep on. I think it would be even better with some improvement.

We stayed for one night over the Obon holidays as a family, and everything was excellent. The Facility matched the photos, was very clean, and we had a truly comfortable stay. When we arrived, the tarp and BBQ set were already prepared, so we could start enjoying a barbecue right away—wonderful. There was also a Miele front-opening dishwasher, which made it very convenient for a large group to wash and dry dishes automatically. What we especially liked was that the LDK is on the first floor, and there is also one bedroom on the first floor. Even among luxury villas I researched extensively, it’s rare to find this layout plus a sauna, so I think it’s quite valuable. It also seems very easy to use when traveling with elderly guests or anyone with limited mobility, since it reduces the need to go up and down stairs. The wood deck is designed to be hard to see from the road, and it isn’t fully exposed from neighboring homes either—privacy was well considered. You can see an apartment-like building a few hundred meters away, so you probably wouldn’t want to sunbathe completely nude outside (haha), but it still feels nicely private. The sauna goes up to 90°C maximum, so those who prefer an authentic high-temperature sauna might find it slightly lacking. However, relaxing outdoors after the cold bath on an infinity chair or in a hammock was truly amazing. We had originally extended late check-out by two hours, and when we asked for an additional two-hour extension, they kindly responded quickly since there were no upcoming Reservations. The staff service was excellent as well. We were satisfied with everything—the Facility, layout, comfort level, privacy considerations, and staff support. It made for a wonderful family trip. The facility is old but well-maintained and clean. The staff provided polite and excellent service. The price was also reasonable.

I stayed here again after a long time. I had always thought it was great, and I was very satisfied. My friend, who was visiting for the first time, also praised everything—the meals, the Onsen, and the staff’s service. I would like to stay here again.

I found an accommodation at Yubara Onsen that matched my preferences with a private open-air bath in the room, so I made a reservation. Although it was pouring rain on the day, the service started with staff bringing an umbrella to us at the parking lot, and their farewell was excellent until the very end. We stayed in "Ruri," and having a large private bath in the room that we could use anytime was amazing. My wife enjoyed soaking in the natural hot spring more frequently than I did. Both dinner and breakfast were satisfying, and we didn’t even touch any of the snacks we bought from a convenience store just in case—we were completely full from our meals. The sake was delicious, and we also enjoyed using the baths at neighboring Tsuruya Inn. If I had to point out any negatives, perhaps there was a slight smell from the toilet? Or maybe some mold on the curtain of the open-air bath? The sound of ventilation fans? However, these minor issues didn’t bother us as there were far more positives during our stay. If you’re visiting Yubara Onsen, this is definitely a place you should experience at least once! It’s not just worth 5 stars but deserves 10 stars!

Although it is a relatively quiet, rustic Onsen area, the Room and Facility were very clean after the renovation. With only seven rooms, it was very peaceful and relaxing. The meals offered a wide variety of dishes and were very satisfying. There are two private open-air baths and one large public bath for men and women, and we were able to fully enjoy the Onsen thanks to the milky white sulfur spring water.

I stayed here with my parents, who came from far away, while I was on a solo work assignment for my child’s sports day. Just as rumored to be a “beauty bath,” the hot spring left my skin silky smooth and warmed me through to the core—I was completely satisfied. The food was delicious, and we all agreed we want to come again! We were truly satisfied with the hospitality, which exceeded the Accommodation Fee.

This was my first stay, and it was a comfortable Accommodation with courteous service. The Room was just the right size, and I could enjoy an evening stroll to nearby shrine events. The bath was not crowded, so I was able to relax. I was satisfied with both the quantity and taste of the meals, and it feels like a hidden gem I’d like to visit in every season. Next time, I’d like to stay in the new wing.

I love Onsen Ryokan and stay at Onsen Accommodation around the country, and this one was an especially great find. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, the atmosphere lifted my spirits, and every dish was delicious and felt carefully prepared. The staff were also very friendly and created a comfortable, welcoming space. A private bath isn’t essential, but I’d love to use it if available—so I hope it can be repaired.

It was my first time visiting Tsuchiyu Onsen, and since it was located in Oku-Tsuchiyu Onsen, a bit further into the mountains from the onsen town, I was able to enjoy the soothing sound of the river and the fresh mountain air, which was absolutely wonderful. The staff at the accommodation were all polite, kind, energetic, and warm-hearted; I felt truly healed by their hospitality. My son was deeply impressed by the tea incense burner in our room and delightedly mentioned how its natural fragrance was much better than detergents or sprays like Risesh. The meals were delicious no matter what we had; you could feel they were carefully prepared with great hospitality. Please continue doing your best with your lovely cats!

The Room was spacious, bright, and clean, and we were very satisfied. We stayed as a group of six across two generations including children, and the 2LDK layout was perfect. Since two of us are smokers, we were also able to relax and smoke in the Room, which made everything even better. We would like to stay again. We checked various sites, but in the end IKYU offered the best price and felt the most reliable.

Everything was even better than I expected. Above all, the open-air bath in the Room was outstanding. If I have the chance, I’d love to stay again.

Thank you for your warm hospitality—we headed home with gratitude. It’s a traditional Japanese house we’d love to stay at again.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great, but the hotel was wonderful. From the pickup to the proprietress’s greeting and our send-off, all the staff were friendly and welcoming with warm smiles. The bath was on the hot side with a crisp, refreshing quality to the water. Above all, the meals were outstanding—everything from the first course onward was truly handmade, and we were completely satisfied. Breakfast was also excellent, especially the freshly made rolled omelet (dashimaki tamago). They also have a great selection of alcoholic drinks. We hear it’s especially lovely during the autumn foliage season as well. We’d love to visit again. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

I visited with my mother. First, we were soothed by the lush green scenery, and thoroughly satisfied with the unique buffet selection. We kept saying "so full!" while enjoying the all-you-can-eat crab. Soaking in the Onsen, I was able to give my mother a truly wonderful experience.
