We stayed here last year and had such a wonderful time that we definitely wanted to come back. This year, we chose our travel destination mainly because we wanted to stay at this Accommodation again, and it did not disappoint. Our Room had an indoor bath, but the open-air bath was so relaxing that we never even found time to use the indoor one (laughs). This is truly an Accommodation we want to return to again. Thank you very much.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary trip. From the moment we arrived until the very end, we truly had a wonderful time. The Room was spacious and spotless, with thoughtful attention to every detail. It was so comfortable that we honestly wished we could stay there forever. We were also delighted to receive a Room upgrade this time—thank you so much. Above all, the meals were beyond words—absolutely delicious. Every single dish was outstanding, and the dining experience itself became a special memory. Because it was our anniversary, you even prepared a surprise dessert plate for us. We were deeply touched by your unexpected kindness. All of the staff were warm throughout our stay, full of attentive care and hospitality, and we found ourselves thinking again and again how glad we were to have chosen this place. The Room, the meals, the Onsen, and especially the staff’s thoughtfulness—everything was exceptional. We couldn’t be more satisfied with our stay. We have stayed at many Accommodations over the years, but this is without a doubt the best one we have ever experienced. We are truly glad we chose “Hakone Gen” for such an important anniversary. When we visit Hakone again, we would love to stay here again. Thank you very much for such a wonderful time and unforgettable memories.

I was immediately captivated by the rural scenery from the Room. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and we also used the private open-air bath. Every area was spotlessly cleaned, making it very pleasant. The in-Room amenities were thoughtfully prepared, and there was nothing missing—I felt you could arrive empty-handed and still enjoy a comfortable stay. I was especially impressed to find single-use packets of laundry detergent among the amenities; it really showed how considerate this Hotel is.

All the staff were very friendly, and we were able to spend our stay in complete comfort. Both the baths and the meals exceeded our expectations. I used the scenic open-air bath early in the morning, and with such beautiful weather, the view was amazing—it felt wonderful. It’s also just a short walk to the stone-step street, and being able to come out around the middle of it felt like a nice bonus. This may depend on the Plan, but there was a local craft beer called Ikahop in the fridge along with juice and water, all included in the rate. There was also a complimentary service of either wine or sake (and for those who don’t drink alcohol, it seems they can provide ramune instead). In addition, there was beer service in the lounge (evenings only), as well as coffee and tea. The Accommodation was very clean and lovely throughout. I also liked that both the corridors and even inside the elevator were tatami-matted—no slippers needed. I was surprised at how small the toilet in our Room was, but aside from that, this is truly a wonderful Accommodation.

We were welcomed with the staff’s bright smiles at check-in. The Room was spacious and clean. As always, no matter where we met them, the staff greeted us with a smile, and the team at the dinner venue did as well. Their smiles are truly warm hospitality.

Thank you very much for everything. Choosing this place for a long-awaited reunion with our friends as a couple was absolutely the right decision. We booked two Rooms, and although we spent time together except when sleeping, the space was spacious and comfortable. We got so caught up chatting that we used the bath twice a day, morning and night, and our friends were also impressed by how wonderful it was. Thank you to T, whom M recommended. The conversation was enjoyable, and we truly had a great time—you completely won us over. The four of us were able to enjoy delicious food in a spacious private dining Room. We would be happy if we could see M and T again next time.

After leaving the Ryokan, I boarded the Shuttle Service bus to the station without realizing I had forgotten my smartphone. Later, a member of the Shuttle Service staff kindly made a round trip by car to deliver it to Shin-Aomori Station. I feel truly sorry and deeply grateful. Their thoughtful care meant so much to me and left me with a warm feeling until the very end. I would love to stay here again.

This is my favorite Accommodation. It had been far too long since my last visit, but it’s still just as wonderful. The food was exceptional as well. I’ll come back again in a different season. The sake tasting set, matsutake mushroom hot pot soup, imoni (taro stew), udon, and hassun platter were all outstanding.

Everyone was extremely kind and attentive. The Room was clean, and the Onsen temperature was just right, so we were very satisfied. There was a wide variety of dishes; in particular, the tempura made with mountain vegetables looked great and tasted wonderful, and the grilled sweetfish was plump and delicious. It is a quiet Onsen town, but we were able to relax and were very satisfied.

We are a couple in our 70s who enjoy driving and hiking. This time, we planned to walk the Goshikinuma hiking course and stayed at Shikisai Ikkiryoku in Bandai-Atami Onsen. With such high Review ratings, we had certain expectations, and it turned out to be a Ryokan that truly satisfied us. The staff’s hospitality and service were genuinely outstanding. From check-in and reception to being escorted to our Room and shown around, they spoke to us at just the right moments, which completely eased any anxiety about staying for the first time. We were also deeply moved when they saw us off at departure. The entire building felt very clean. It is described as a long-established Ryokan with over 100 years of history, but rather than feeling old, it had a dignified atmosphere that we found wonderful. After relaxing in the Onsen, the meals were excellent in both quality and quantity, and we thoroughly enjoyed beer and sake as well. After an early-morning bath, we took a walk around the garden. We also enjoyed viewing the garden from inside while having coffee—both experiences were wonderful. There were many autographed boards from famous guests displayed along the corridors, which was quite enjoyable. It reminded both my wife and me of how hospitality and service used to be at traditional Ryokan—“Yes, this is how it was!” As we celebrate our golden wedding anniversary this year, this became one of our most memorable stays during our travels. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

The food was delicious and wonderfully unique! Clear soup with junsai and clams (in addition to a hearty miso soup!), plus plenty of seasonal fruit (Shine Muscat grapes, red and green-fleshed melon), Matsumoto watermelon, and more. Everything felt more thoughtfully prepared than what I’ve had elsewhere, and I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Stayed with my dog. Due to my mistake, I had made a Reservation for a different Room than intended, but they kindly helped me change it, which was a great relief. Both the Room and the in-room open-air bath were wonderful. The large public bath was spacious with excellent water quality, and I enjoyed it many times. The meals were excellent in both quality and quantity for both breakfast and dinner, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. It seems the owner will be changing, but I hope everything will continue just as it is now.

The attention to detail was truly appreciated. Special care seemed to be given to ingredients like rice and eggs, both of which had exceptional flavor. The Onsen water temperature was perfect, and even the private bath in our room was beautifully designed and clean. Shuttle

We stayed with No Meals Included, but we were able to enjoy complimentary late-night ochazuke. The broth was rich and very delicious. There were three of us, and since the washing area for the private open-air bath was a separate shower booth, we ended up taking turns one by one. However, the Onsen itself and the mist shower were both very pleasant. Next time, we’d like to stay again with meals included!

We arrived late for check-in, and we really appreciated you adjusting the dinner time. Both dinner and breakfast were carefully prepared, and everything was delicious. The building felt a bit old, but the Room had been renovated and was very comfortable. I didn’t realize the bath featured a mural by Kiyoshi Yamashita when I went in, but it became a wonderful memory.

The Accommodation is pleasantly small, making it convenient to get to the restaurant and the baths. A fireplace welcomes you in both winter and summer. The free space on the second floor is stylish, and the Room is clean and beautiful. The meals are always enjoyable and delicious. For me in my 60s, it’s just the right size, with just the right amount of food—an exceptionally comfortable Accommodation.

We stayed here as a couple.\n\nWe had been interested in this Accommodation for some time, and after actually staying, it exceeded our expectations. Above all, the milky-white free-flowing Onsen from the source was outstanding, and soaking at a leisurely pace felt truly luxurious. We also enjoyed the private open-air bath together without any worries, which became a wonderful memory.\n\nBoth dinner and breakfast featured carefully prepared dishes that made the most of local ingredients, and we were completely satisfied with both the taste and portion sizes. Everything at both meals was delicious, and we were impressed to enjoy freshly made dishes served piping hot.\n\nThe staff’s hospitality was warm, with thoughtful attention to detail throughout our stay, making it very comfortable. The three of us—my spouse, my sister, and I—had a relaxing stay. The Room was clean, and the Onsen was at a comfortable temperature, so we enjoyed soaking many times while looking out at the sea. The meals were all delicious, and even the grilled fish at breakfast was prepared in an easy-to-eat way. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, and all three of us finished everything. It felt like an extraordinary Hotel experience, as if we were traveling abroad. Both the Japanese staff and the fun international staff provided wonderfully pleasant service, making our stay even more enjoyable. At dinner, they introduced the menu, and our middle- and high-school-aged children were able to enjoy the meal while chatting. At breakfast, we could also see beautiful Mt. Yotei. The fresh sashimi and Hokkaido vegetables in particular were truly delicious. The Room was spacious, with an island kitchen that felt like something overseas. There was a separate bath and shower Room, two toilets, and TVs in each Room. The private bath was a big hit with our teenage daughter as well. As a mother, I was especially grateful for the washing machine in the Room—it really helped to be able to wash clothes that got wet during river rafting in Niseko! Just a short walk away is Tokyu Grand Hirafu’s activity Facility, where our whole family enjoyed pickleball from the morning. There are also photo spots, so we could make good use of even the small amount of time before check-in or after check-out without wasting it—and capture great memories too! It was such a wonderful Hotel that made us think, “We want to come back!”

We stayed here with four generations of our family. Because our 93-year-old grandmother has become more self-conscious around others and rarely goes out to eat, we chose a Room with a private Onsen. She was truly delighted, and we are so glad we chose this Room. Since it was a trip with four generations, we wanted a space where everyone could relax at their own pace, so we made a Reservation for the Wakakusa Room. Thanks to the spacious Room, everyone in the family was able to spend time comfortably and freely without any stress. We usually live in Mie, so it’s rare for our whole family to travel together. This time, traveling with our 3-year-old son and 93-year-old grandmother, we were able to create wonderful memories as a family. We hope we can all visit again while our grandmother is still doing well. Thank you very much for such an unforgettable stay.
