We stayed as a family of four. The Facility was new and very clean, and we had a truly comfortable stay. Amenities were well stocked, including laundry detergent, so we hardly needed to bring anything. The owner provided thoughtful communication and consideration, which made us feel at ease throughout our trip. With two bedrooms, the Room layout was spacious, and our whole family was very satisfied. We would definitely like to stay here again when we visit Ishigaki Island. If I had one request, it would be even better if we could check an amenities list in advance.

The more you travel, the more your 기준 for choosing an Accommodation shifts from “luxury” to “essential comfort.” Tucked away in a mountain gorge at 1,000 meters above sea level in Kokonoe, Oita, Tabinoyado Yamatsubaki feels like the final paradise discerning travelers eventually find. Its greatest value lies in its intentionally limited number of rooms. Far removed from the bustle of a large Ryokan, it offers complete privacy—paired with perfectly judged hospitality that is attentive without ever feeling intrusive. From the moment you arrive, you can feel everyday life quietly fade away. The open-air bath is simply unforgettable. In crisp, unobstructed air, soaking in superb free-flowing Onsen while watching the starry sky shift moment by moment becomes more than a bath—it’s an indulgent sense of oneness with nature. For an Accommodation with such a private atmosphere, the generous space throughout is exceptional and especially appealing to wellness-minded travelers. As I was visiting after business and didn’t want to inconvenience the owner couple, I booked a stay with breakfast only—but each dish at breakfast told its own story. Every bite was spot-on and far beyond expectations. I regretted not ordering dinner so much that I could only think afterward: “Why didn’t I?” I also learned that at nearby Komatsu Jigoku—reopened for sightseeing after restoration completed in summer 2025—you can make Onsen eggs yourself. They kindly sold me eggs upon request and graciously accommodated my last-minute favor. I visited in early summer, but reaching Kokonoe’s mountains when they are covered in snow will likely require some preparation. Even so, that challenge only adds to the thrill of heading into a hidden retreat. Nature, renowned hot springs, and outstanding cuisine—Yamatsubaki brings them together in near-perfect balance. It isn’t just somewhere to stay; it’s a destination in itself—a truly one-of-a-kind Accommodation worth traveling for.

This Accommodation sits at the highest point of Arifuku Onsen in Gotsu City, Shimane Prefecture. I stayed here eight years ago and returned this time. It used to be a historic, retro inn, but after the renovation it has been transformed into a wonderful Onsen Accommodation that beautifully blends tasteful interiors with a nostalgic atmosphere. Dinner was a full-course meal at a nearby Italian restaurant included in the Plan. Despite being stylish, they also provided chopsticks, and every dish was carefully prepared with delicate seasoning—everything was truly delicious. Breakfast was also very good, though I would have liked one more side dish (such as dried fish). The Onsen water has a silky, slightly slippery feel—perhaps that’s why it’s known as “beautifying” water. I’ve visited many hot spring areas, but this texture is quite rare. There is also a glass window in the dining room floor where you can see the source spring. On Saturday nights, it seems you can watch Iwami Kagura at the nearby Kagura hall just steps from the Accommodation. Unfortunately, my stay wasn’t on a Saturday so I couldn’t see it, but next time I’d like to make my Reservation for a Saturday.

I made a Reservation for one night with breakfast included. Unfortunately, the room was on the mountain side and did not have an ocean view, but breakfast was wonderful while dining with a view of the sea. I was also able to relax in the large public bath while looking out over the ocean. Even if you come empty-handed, you can borrow a fishing rod and enjoy fishing. If you want to buy bait, you would normally need to go to a nearby tackle shop, but it was already closed, so the Hotel staff kindly prepared bait for us and we were able to enjoy fishing the next morning. Thank you very much to all the staff.

For dinner, we chose nodoguro and wagyu beef—both were delicious. Breakfast felt a little modest, but considering the price, we were very satisfied. The room was also thoroughly cleaned, making our stay comfortable.

The dining area had a wonderful atmosphere, and every dish was delicious. The Onsen baths also switch between the women’s and men’s sides each day, so it was great to enjoy different types of baths. I would love to stay here again.

This was our second stay—another visit. My spouse and I really enjoyed our time here. The Shika-no-Yu hot spring was wonderfully relaxing and very comfortable; we ended up staying in for a long time. The meals were delicious, with seasonal ingredients, and the Hanawa beef was incredibly generous in portion yet so tender we finished it easily. The freshly cooked rice for breakfast was also excellent—we ate the whole serving (one go). The starry sky visible from the Room window was unbelievably beautiful and truly moving. You don’t need to watch TV at all here. The comfort is outstanding. Thank you very much. We will be back again.

Although I’ve visited Okinawa many times, this was my first stay here.\nWe chose the Pool Executive Suite (2 Bedrooms), and it was incredibly spacious and open—best of all, we could use the pool anytime!\nThe kids were thrilled, and the adults joined in too; we ended up swimming and playing over and over.\nHaving a washer-dryer in the Room was a huge help—we’d wash and dry our wet clothes right away, then head back to the pool again the next day.\nIt was a bit disappointing that we couldn’t see the ocean because of all the trees in front of the pool, but at night it was fun spotting bats flying around, cats wandering by, and looking for other unusual creatures.\nSince no one could see us, we were able to truly relax without thinking about anything.\n\nThe beach just a short walk away was full of nature, with gentle waves—it was truly beautiful.\nWe snorkeled as a family, and we really appreciated being able to borrow beach chairs and parasols.\nWe went to watch the sunset, and after being told we might be able to see fireworks, we went out for that too. We visited the beach several times—the sound of the waves and peaceful atmosphere felt cleansing. It became our best Okinawa trip ever.\n\nAs for meals: breakfast—the Japanese set meal was absolutely delicious. We chose Japanese breakfast all three mornings of our 3-night stay.\nFor dinner, we tried à la carte at the restaurant once; everything was excellent and we were very satisfied!\n\nIf I had to mention one small point:\nThe Room Facility is perfect overall, but despite having a kitchen and cooking tools, the refrigerator is extremely small—like one you’d find in a Business Hotel...\nWe couldn’t chill wine in it, so we asked to store it in the Hotel cellar. Considering how well-equipped the Room is otherwise, I wish there were a slightly larger refrigerator.\n\nThis is a pleasantly intimate Hotel overall, so I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet stay.\nAll staff members were attentive and wonderful.\nIt turned into our best Okinawa trip ever—we’d love to return someday!

I stayed for one night on a business trip. I booked a great-value Plan that included all-you-can-drink sake plus two meals (Japanese breakfast). 1. My planned check-in was 19:30, but traveling Yokohama → Tokyo → Iwaki → the property, I missed the 18:00 Joban Line train from Iwaki. The next train was 19:26 (a 1.5-hour wait), so I arrived at 21:10. (If you’re coming from a major city, please be aware: public transportation in Minamisoma is basically just the north–south Joban Line, and service is limited. If you’re not driving, plan carefully.) 2. I was in a hurry and very hungry, so I forgot to take photos, but the food was delicious. The owner kindly explained things like having water alongside sake to pace yourself for me as a foreign guest. The Yahoo Travel page said “all-you-can-drink sake,” but beer and shochu were also available. 3. The Room had a shower but no toilet. Hot water took quite a while to come out at the outside sink, so I used hot water from the Room for brushing my teeth and washing my face. Since guest numbers have decreased after the earthquake and it must be hard to keep pipes warm, I didn’t mind. 4. Breakfast was Japanese-style; I expected only miso soup or tea, but there was coffee too—a nice surprise! The grilled fish in particular was juicy and excellent. The owner couple (sorry if that’s incorrect) seem truly well-suited to cooking. 5. At checkout, their dog suddenly came over to greet me—another surprise! Maybe it was a playful warning not to check out late… haha. Conclusion: It was an experience close to 5 stars. One request: please let guests know in advance that there is an alert/guard-type dog on site who may greet them unexpectedly at checkout or elsewhere on the property. I like dogs, but my heart has become weaker with age; even a friendly surprise can startle me. I look forward to staying again.

Despite the unfortunate rainy weather, the Onsen was also available for day use, and the parking lot was full; however, thanks to the staff’s guidance, we were shown to a space reserved for guests. The Room was spacious and spotless, and the open-air bath was wonderfully relaxing—absolutely fantastic. The kaiseki cuisine used local ingredients and was truly delicious. We were also able to use the day-use Onsen, and everything was taken care of. We had a very relaxing stay. Thank you very much.

It was worth extending our trip from Karuizawa to Kusatsu Onsen just to visit Kimuraya. We truly enjoyed a relaxing time, and the Shirahata no Yu with its free-flowing Onsen water was so smooth it felt like it embraced the body. Even my husband, who isn’t particularly fond of hot springs, seemed to appreciate its charm and went in multiple times. The staff members were all wonderful as well.

Arrived without any trouble at the Hagi Bus Center. A spacious Room was arranged, allowing for a relaxing and comfortable stay before sleeping.

Thank you very much for your hospitality. Even during the Obon holiday, the price was very reasonable, the breakfast was delicious, and the bath was excellent! Although it was a smoking room, there was no odor at all, and we were completely satisfied. We would definitely like to stay again when visiting the Kansai area.

Thank you for taking care of us for two days. The free parking was very helpful. There was a supermarket nearby, which we used. It was conveniently located for getting to other places.

I stayed with my dog. It was very quiet and relaxing. The room was a Japanese-Western style room, spacious, and the tatami room was elegant and clean, so I hesitated to let my pet in and kept my dog only in the living area. Since my dog is small, it was more than enough. I felt that having only two pee pads might be a bit insufficient, but since it was just one night, it was fine. The Onsen I had been looking forward to had three washing stations (women’s), and the indoor bath was small. Instead, I enjoyed the large open-air bath where you can really feel the negative ions. It said Gora Onsen, but there was a slight chlorine smell, which was disappointing. Since it doesn’t seem to be free-flowing spring water, I guess that can’t be helped. Breakfast didn’t have a huge variety, but it was a well-balanced buffet with just-right seasoning. It was delicious! An 11:00 check-out is great because you can take your time. I’d love to stay again.

We used the accommodation for sightseeing by car on three islands in Ehime. It was difficult to find an accommodation with meals included, especially the day before our stay, but we were lucky to secure a reservation. The price was very reasonable, and although we didn’t expect luxurious meals initially, the food provided exceeded our expectations and was incredibly satisfying. The dishes included sashimi, simmered sea bream head, fried sea bream, side dishes, and more. We were amazed that the sea bream rice was all-you-can-eat! Not only for dinner but also for breakfast, sea bream rice was served—such variety at such an affordable price is unbelievable. If we have another chance, we would love to stay again. Thank you very much!

A wonderful Room, and a lovely owner couple and staff. For dinner, we couldn’t choose a course, so we had sushi, plus fried chicken and fries and an eggplant snack, which we enjoyed in our Room. Everything was delicious. In the morning, we had curry doria and a plate with salad and side dishes—also very tasty. The coffee at the end had a vanilla aroma that brought back memories and made me happy. You can also enjoy the exhibits of their nephew, a professional racer. This is an Accommodation I highly recommend. Next time, I’ll come back to try the course meal.

I stayed alone in a cottage, and for this price, the Room, meals, and Onsen were all excellent. The kiln-baked dish was especially delicious. The staff were very kind, the Room was clean, and I was able to relax in nature. In the morning, it wasn’t a large bath but a smaller one; it was also clean and comfortable.
