This was a wonderful Accommodation where the owners’ sense of style and hospitality were evident in every detail. The clean Room, the handmade garden, and the carefully prepared meals were all warm and comforting, and we felt truly relaxed. Rather than the standardized service of a large Facility, we could really feel how much they love this place and are devoted to nurturing it. My elderly mother also said she would definitely like to come again, so we will surely visit again. Thank you very much.

We enjoyed a “staycation,” with lounge hopping across four lounges as the main highlight. First, we walked from Shinagawa Station to the Hotel, but IKYU’s directions said “cross Daiichi Keihan…,” so we crossed the signal right after exiting the Takanawa Exit. However, the route to the right after crossing was blocked due to construction, so we had to turn back. After exiting the Takanawa Exit, it’s best to turn right and walk along Daiichi Keihan, then turn left at the first traffic light onto Sakura-zaka. Alternatively, since it’s a continuous uphill slope, I think taking the shuttle bus would be a good option. We visited all four lounges, and as expected, Hana-Kouro’s lounge was the most relaxing; the drinks were also of higher quality and excellent. The champagne during cocktail time—and Dassai—was a real treat. We also enjoyed tasting different sake. There were some light bites during cocktail time, but it would have been even better if there had been additional hors d’oeuvres. Breakfast was delicious as well. It was our first time trying a matcha grinding experience, and we really enjoyed it. At the lounge, the staff maintained just the right level of attentiveness throughout without being intrusive, which made it very comfortable. Thank you very much for taking such great care of us. This was my first stay, and I was very satisfied. The hotel and the room were both very clean and comfortable. The staff were always smiling, which made me feel cheerful. The shuttle service to Kanazawa Station and the hotel’s dedicated lockers near the station were very convenient.

I had a very pleasant stay. All of the staff were extremely courteous, and the restaurant team in particular was attentive to each guest and kindly took care of us. Not only the room but also the hallways and other areas throughout the property were well maintained and spotlessly clean. Thanks to the warm hospitality and comfortable environment, I was able to relax and enjoy my time here. I would like to stay again if I have the opportunity.

A ryokan next to Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya, where you can relax in gentle hot springs and spend time wrapped in tranquility. From the room we stayed in this time, through the window we could see the roofs of buildings within Akimiya’s grounds and the surrounding grove. The season’s coldest autumn weather this year made the feeling of cleansing both body and mind even stronger. We didn’t have time to walk around on this trip, but it takes less than a minute to reach Akimiya’s parking lot. Its charm, different from modern accommodation facilities, reminded us of the pride of being Japanese. Thank you very much.

Although we arrived in rainy weather, we were warmly welcomed by many staff members, making for a wonderful start that almost felt more than we deserved. The building, designated as a Tangible Cultural Property, has a rich sense of history, yet it is meticulously maintained throughout, allowing us to relax in complete comfort. In addition to the pleasantly warm and soothing Onsen, the cuisine was truly outstanding. On departure, they even took a complimentary commemorative photo and later sent it to our home—such a thoughtful gesture that made this an unforgettable memory. Everything was exceptional, including the hospitality, and this is an Accommodation we would love to stay at again. Thank you very much.

I stayed one night at Hanaougi Bettei Iiyama on September 22. The beef-focused dinner was so filling that I couldn’t manage the Takayama ramen at the main building. I used the in-room open-air bath four times, and it completely washed away the fatigue from 4.5 rounds over three days. For breakfast, I ended up eating two bowls of rice from the ohitsu. Our attendant was wonderful as well. This winter, I plan to come by train and take it easy. I look forward to staying with you again. ARB-echan

We truly felt your wonderful service and hospitality throughout our stay. The location, the meals, the baths, and all of the staff were genuinely excellent. You even prepared kaiseki cuisine for our 9-year-old son and accommodated a change to our breakfast time. Both the dinner kaiseki and breakfast were absolutely delicious, and it was clear how much care and effort went into them.

All the staff had wonderful smiles, the art-filled space was relaxing, and the food was excellent—our child was smiling the whole time. We thought it would be even better if children could stay together in a wider variety of Rooms. It became a great summer memory.

The dishes were beautifully presented, with carefully prepared dashi that brought out the best of each ingredient. For breakfast, we enjoyed freshly cooked white rice made in a clay pot. Above all, the staff’s warm smiles and thoughtful hospitality left a lasting impression. We were welcomed and seen off with genuine care. It was an even more wonderful stay than we had imagined. The room rate is certainly not cheap, but it felt well worth the price and more. We would love to visit again.

Hanging scrolls, ikebana, and a beautifully arranged Room down to every detail. The head chef, attendants, the young proprietress, and the proprietress herself offer warm, attentive hospitality with genuine grace. Thinking that all of this beauty is an expression of love for each guest fills me with freshness and gratitude. At Kikkawa, you can feel the refined spirit of Kyoto—an appreciation for making everyday life beautiful and joyful. It began as an Accommodation I hoped to stay at at least once in my life; before I knew it, this was my 11th visit. A superb culinary Ryokan I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who truly loves Kyoto.

I’ve stayed at many ryokan and hotels, but this was the number one property for me. The baths were spotless and felt very clean. The amenities also showed thoughtful attention to detail. The meals were delicious, and the staff were polite, attentive, and very kind. It was one of the few places that truly made me want to come back again.

Every time I stay here, I find myself thinking, “When can I come back again?”—it motivates me to work hard. I love this inn for its beautiful in-room garden and open-air bath, perfect for relaxing in the bath all day. I’m always satisfied with both the meals and the staff’s service. The steamed abalone somen noodles in abalone liver broth are truly delicious—I want to have them every time (laugh).

The view from the room was outstanding, and the spacious room was very comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were truly delicious, with each dish beautifully presented, making it a delight for both the eyes and the palate. The rice cooked in a traditional kama pot was especially exceptional—I couldn’t help but eat too much. Everything—the view, the room, and the food—was wonderful, making this a fantastic inn where we could spend a relaxing and pleasant time.

This time, I stayed with my parents. In a word, it is a refined Accommodation—like a hidden retreat for adults. The lobby has high ceilings and an open, airy feel, with beautifully maintained gardens. Tasteful jazz plays from a glass vacuum-tube audio system. The staff are calm and friendly. When I mentioned at dinner that I am left-handed, the younger staff shared the information, and they had chopsticks set accordingly at breakfast the next morning—I was truly happy. Small touches like this mean a lot to guests. “Quality” includes the building and furnishings, of course, but what moves guests and makes them want to return is hospitality above all else. The meals were excellent, and the selection of alcoholic drinks was also outstanding. The tableware had great taste as well. My mother said the portion sizes were just right and she could fully enjoy them. That night all three of us said, “Let’s come again.” More than anything flashy, quietness, genuine hospitality from the staff, and delicious food are what make an Accommodation truly exceptional. I would love to visit again during pufferfish season.

The free-flowing, continuously fed Onsen was wonderfully abundant, and each private bath had a calm, relaxing atmosphere. The cuisine was perfect for wine lovers, with rare wines to match. The interior design—and the lamps placed throughout—were all beautifully chosen. Right in front of the Accommodation, there is a row of cherry trees along the riverbank; I can only imagine how stunning the view must be during cherry blossom season. I won’t wait until then—I will definitely return again soon. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

This is my favorite Accommodation, and I’ve returned many times. This time, I stayed in the Geihinkan “Hanafuki” Room and was truly soothed by the spacious, luxurious setting. The view of the waterfall flowing right in front of the Room was especially memorable, and I could relax at a leisurely pace while listening to the gentle sound of the river. The double-sink vanity was very convenient, and it was also a great touch that I could step straight from the bedroom to the private open-air Onsen bath in the Room. Being able to enjoy Onsen whenever I like without any hesitation feels wonderfully indulgent. Because the bedroom and dining Room are separate, there’s no need for futon setup or takedown, so I could stay comfortable and relaxed throughout my entire stay. Meals were served in-room, which I loved—hot dishes arrived piping hot, and cold dishes stayed perfectly chilled, letting me enjoy everything at its freshest. The seasonal tableware and menu were delicious and beautifully presented, making each meal something I look forward to every time. The tea prepared during meals was also excellent and truly calming. I also appreciated all the complimentary services—from free drinks in the in-room refrigerator to drinks and ice cream in the lounge. It was especially nice that towels are provided at the large public bath so there’s no need to bring them from your Room. The large public bath itself is very comfortable, with thoughtful touches everywhere. Above all, every staff member offers such warm hospitality and attentive care. Once again, this stay left me feeling deeply refreshed as I enjoyed a comfortable yet luxurious time. It’s an Accommodation that makes me think “I want to come back” every single visit—I truly love it. I will definitely return again.

We stayed here after hearing the pork cutlet ramen was delicious, and my wife and I enjoyed it for lunch. The pork cutlet ramen was excellent, and the beef bowl we ordered as well was also outstanding. We booked the lounge plan, and after lunch we visited the lounge; both the drinks and light meals were wonderful and very tasty. The Japanese set breakfast had a wide variety of dishes and was delicious as well. The service, meals, room, and view were all superb, and my wife immediately asked to come again. It’s about an hour door-to-door from our home, but we will definitely visit again to enjoy a special getaway. Thank you very much.
