I first stayed here in January 2026, and this was my second visit. This time I returned in the season of fresh greenery, and along the several dozen meters from the accommodation building to the separate Onsen building, white citrus blossoms were in full bloom. I was able to enjoy their sweet fragrance while soaking in the Onsen. It’s wonderful that each season brings new discoveries. The meals were consistently high quality, and I was satisfied with both the taste and portion size.

Unfortunately, due to cloudy and rainy weather, we couldn’t see the starry sky, but we’re already thinking about when to come back for another try. There was a warm, homey atmosphere among guests as well—people asked questions and helped each other out. The drink corner was a great idea, but even after trying many times, no ice came out, and there were a few things that were unclear. An elderly guest seemed troubled because the coffee wouldn’t stop dispensing. I think it would be helpful to post easy-to-understand instructions. At mealtimes, the staff serving us were all foreigners, but they were very polite. Their Japanese was quite limited at times so we didn’t always understand what they said, but we could generally guess from the context and had no issues. One thing that stood out compared with other hotels I’ve stayed at: since it’s a quiet Hotel I thought this might be normal here, but I was surprised that none of the staff said “good morning” to guests in the morning. When my husband passed by the front desk he greeted them first; they may not have heard him, but they were chatting among themselves and didn’t greet guests even as people walked right in front of them. In contrast, the foreign staff in the restaurant—even with limited Japanese—did say “good morning.” Also, the Onsen was wonderful, but there is no fan in the changing room. Having one would help guests cool down more easily and might reduce crowding there. The large public bath and open-air bath are very comfortable and warm you up well. The green view from the open-air bath—and in the morning, clouds or mist drifting over the mountains—felt truly unique. The meals were a good portion size and showed creativity within their price range. Dinner offered an enjoyable mix of Japanese- and Western-style dishes with plenty of variety. Breakfast was buffet-style with many options including both Western and Japanese items as well as desserts; everyone seemed to be enjoying it. The highland area is beautiful—it feels like it could even become a villa resort area someday. We also visited Relaxia Forest next to the Hotel (apparently used as a movie filming location). It’s a lovely forest where we could enjoy forest bathing too. There don’t seem to be any other Hotels around this area, so we’d like to stay again.

For our family trips to Aomori Prefecture, staying at Suimei has become our go-to choice. Our children are still young, but we didn’t feel any inconvenience at all, and they especially enjoyed the in-Room Onsen. We will definitely return.

We used this place for a family trip with our dog. Overall, we were very satisfied, except that the steps at the entrance to the dog run were a bit hard to go down because they were like terrace clogs. The bath being a free-flowing natural Onsen was a wonderful feature. We would love to stay again. Thank you for your hospitality.

Although our stay was short, the Facility had a wonderful atmosphere and we were able to relax and enjoy a peaceful time. The next morning, we enjoyed the Onsen and sauna—it felt great, and both body and mind were refreshed. Since we arrived just before midnight (24:00), it was a bit disappointing that we couldn’t use the Onsen that day. Next time, I’d like to arrive a little earlier and take more time to enjoy the Facility as well. I would definitely like to stay again if I have the chance. Thank you!

I chose this Accommodation because I wanted to visit Mihama Beach and it was conveniently located, but I was amazed by the incredible hospitality. The proprietress was like sunshine, and all the other staff were so pleasant—truly a wonderful Accommodation. The young woman who served dinner even picked up on our small conversation and celebrated my husband’s birthday, which we hadn’t mentioned. The Room cushions were unbelievably thick and fluffy—so much so that I almost hesitated to sit on them. Since I was traveling with my elderly father, they were very considerate of him, and he was in great spirits as well. This is the first time I’ve experienced such a warm Accommodation. Thank you very much!

It was spacious and comfortable. The artificial Onsen felt like a proper Onsen. It might be a good option for a Multiple Night Stay. This time, I came to Nasu to dine at a certain restaurant, and even though it was No Meals Included, I was surprised at how affordable it was. I’d like to try other Room types as well.

First of all, thank you to the front desk staff for your courteous service from check-in onward. I carefully checked the weather forecast and decided there would be no snowfall, then hurriedly planned a trip to my beloved Hida Takayama and Okuhida. After leisurely enjoying the old town streets, I headed to the Accommodation and arrived around dusk—only to see white flakes falling from the sky. In the end, it worked out perfectly. The early-morning Onsen was a stunning open-air bath with snow viewing and a softly lit winter landscape. With no wind, I was able to enjoy a quiet moment all to myself and Clear away my daily fatigue and stress. The indoor bath also had a lovely interior and atmosphere, was beautifully cleaned, and I enjoyed a full hour—completely satisfied. The Yakult drink service in the post-bath lounge was another thoughtful touch; I ended up having three. Breakfast afterward was outstanding for someone who loves Japanese food—I had three large bowls of rice first thing in the morning. Hoba miso, “tsukemono steak,” kombu rolls, simmered ganmodoki, steamed vegetables, miso soup with fried tofu… And as if that weren’t enough, I even finished off some special curry rice. Now I’m slightly nervous about my next regular checkup with my hemoglobin A1c likely going up… On the way home I did some light exercise by strolling around Takayama again: Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, the Takayama Festival Float Exhibition Hall, Hiroshige’s baumkuchen shop, a cat café, and more. This is an Accommodation I’d like to visit again anytime in any season—and one I truly hope to stay at again. Next time I’d love to try dinner as well. When I noticed the interior (tatami flooring?), it felt familiar—then I realized it’s part of the same group as Hida Hanazato no Yu Takayama Ouan. Once again, it struck me as a wonderful concept: clean and beautifully Japanese in style. Thank you very much.

We chose this Hotel because it could accommodate our family of five. There were three double beds and a double-size sofa bed, plus a hammock in the Room. The bathtub on the terrace was amazing—bathing while looking out at the ocean was the best. The private bath within the Facility was also a comfortable size. The food was delicious, and the staff’s hospitality felt warm and genuine. With a typhoon approaching, they even helped secure an extended stay in case our flight was canceled. In the end it wasn’t canceled and we were able to go home, but it gave us great peace of mind during our stay. Being close to the airport was also convenient, as it let us relax until the very last minute before leaving.

Conveniently located near the station, with plenty of options for dinner nearby, and parking close by as well. The bath was great, with two tubs at different temperatures. What I especially liked was the non-buffet breakfast—it felt like we were treated to delicious local specialties from Shinshu that we don’t often get to try. I’d love to stay again.

I stayed during the lovely summer season.\nBecause it was a weekday, they upgraded my Room, and I was able to enjoy a very spacious Japanese-style room.\nThe town itself has a calm, homey feel and hasn’t been overly commercialized for tourism; being surrounded 360 degrees by nature—green and blue—was truly refreshing for both body and mind.\nThe building has been renovated, so it didn’t feel old and everything was kept clean. However, from the entrance to the lobby there were everyday items that felt a bit cluttered, which was a slight downside for anyone looking for an escape from daily life.\nThat said, the gentleman at the front desk was very kind and warm-hearted, the meals (both dinner and breakfast) were delicious, and the staff’s thoughtful hospitality made me feel like “it’s like coming back to Grandpa’s house,” so overall I’m glad I chose this Accommodation.\nThere is an open-air bath, but it felt slightly exposed as if someone might be able to look in from outside, so in the morning I used only the indoor bath.

Perhaps because there was availability on a weekday, they upgraded us to a larger Room. We were very satisfied with the open, airy Room and the mountain views from the large windows in our corner Room. The meals were all delicious, with plenty of dishes, and we left completely full. It was our first time trying venison—it was tender and excellent. The bath and the entire property were clean and very pleasant.

An Accommodation nestled in the Kasugayama Primeval Forest, about a 10-minute walk from Kasuga Taisha Shrine. This is an even older Accommodation than Nara Hotel, originally established as a venue to host the Governor of Nara Prefecture. I had a wonderful stay at this Accommodation. The building shows its age, but everything—from the floors to the private hinoki bath—was beautifully polished, whether waxed or wiped with rice bran, and it felt spotless and very pleasant. You can really see the steady care and effort of the staff. The highlight is the food. Every dish had an elegant, gentle flavor, and the pacing was calm and unhurried. The simmered dishes in particular were outstanding—I was truly impressed by their depth of flavor. We often hear about Kyoto kaiseki; perhaps this could be called Nara kaiseki. All staff members were attentive without being intrusive, thoughtful about small details, and consistently pleasant. Their teamwork also seemed excellent. A deer even greeted us near the entrance. If you don’t require full barrier-free access or a Room that looks brand-new above all else, this is an Accommodation I highly recommend.

We stayed at the property after climbing Mount Kuju. It was close to the Maki-no-toge trailhead, and after having tea at Shetani, we headed to Hanashinobu. We arrived at 4 PM and received a detailed explanation of the stay from the proprietress before heading straight to the onsen. The quality of the water was good, and there were various onsen options to choose from, which was very pleasant. Dinner was at 6 PM, which was perfect timing. The dinner was luxurious and very delicious. The room was warm, and we slept comfortably. Breakfast had a wide variety of dishes, and we were very satisfied. We would like to visit again. The owner and the proprietress were kind, and it was a warm property.

I stayed one night to explore Midagahara. Compared with the Murodo area, there were fewer people, and it was a very calm Hotel. I could enjoy walking around at my own pace, which was great. I also enjoyed the Hotel’s guided walks and stargazing. The meals were delicious, and the one-hour free-flow drinks option was a great value. I would love to visit again.

We stayed here for our family trip at the end of summer vacation. It was a special Room—the only one of its kind in the Hotel. It had the space of two Rooms plus a living area, and an exceptionally large bathroom—about the size of another Room—with a spacious bathtub where you can fully stretch out, as well as a separate shower room. The bubble-bath function had been removed, but features such as the marble flooring gave it a very luxurious feel. There were also private stairs, a ramp, and an exclusive corridor leading to this special Room, with outstanding attention to privacy. From the Room, we enjoyed breathtaking views over all of Lake Megami and the surrounding mountains. There were three large TVs, which delighted our children, and we could use the air conditioning as well, so we stayed comfortable throughout our visit. The public bath included an open-air bath and even two saunas, and the lockers were clean. From the open-air bath we could look out over Lake Megami and the mountains while relaxing in the Onsen. We enjoyed cooling off in the cold bath, watching clouds drift by, and taking our time to fully appreciate Tateshina Onsen. As it was peak season, both dinner and breakfast were buffet only; while there weren’t many items overall, each dish was truly delicious. The coffee did not seem to be freshly drip-brewed from a machine like those found at some buffets, so having a coffee machine would be nice. Next time we are very much looking forward to trying kaiseki cuisine at the basement-level restaurant as well. As an IKYU.com Diamond member benefit I requested late check-out; unfortunately it wasn’t possible due to peak season demand. Still, this is such a wonderful Hotel that we wanted to stay even longer—the Room was beautiful, spacious, and impressive in every way. Thank you also for the Diamond member gifts (a bottle of wine and souvenirs from Nagano). Since in Parking Lot No. 1 the wheelchair-priority space is shared with EV charging spaces, I think it would be better to separate them so that enough spaces can be secured to meet nighttime EV charging demand while keeping accessible parking available at all times. We arrived at 11:00 and completed check-in procedures first; the front desk staff were excellent. We requested early check-in but it wasn’t possible due to peak season; however when keys became available before 3:00 p.m., they were handed out in order of completion of procedures—so arriving early was worthwhile for us after all. We will be staying in this same Room again in the future as well; thank you in advance from our whole family for your continued hospitality. Thank you very much to all staff members.”

It was a very enjoyable stay for our kindergarten-aged child. Both dinner and breakfast were full of foods kids love. They had fun making their own ice cream, and they could also bring chocolate syrup and chocolate toppings from a separate area to create their own pancakes. (We wished there had been pancake syrup in the kids’ corner.) The Onsen temperature was set low for children (it might feel lukewarm for adults), and our child stayed in for about an hour. The only downside was that the photos in the information showed a drum washing machine, but there wasn’t one in reality. Other than that, they offer lots of children’s activities, so I think it’s an excellent Hotel for families with kids. We’d like to come again in winter.

This time, I stayed at the long-admired Imperial Hotel with my mother. She used to love hiking and once climbed the Hotaka mountain range, and she told me that she and her friends talked about how they wanted to stay here someday. Her wish finally came true, and she was absolutely delighted. We were very satisfied to see Hotaka from our Room balcony. The Room was spotless and very comfortable. The staff were kind and carefully explained the route to Kappa Bridge. The restaurant was fully booked for dinner, but when we said we would browse the souvenir shop, they kindly came to let us know as soon as a table became available. This time, we were on a waiting list, and luckily a cancellation opened up so we were able to stay. On the way home, my mother and I kept saying, “Let’s come again.” We would love to visit again.

Buffet-style dining is common at Hotels, but I was amazed that this buffet also came with generous servings of assorted seafood. Everything was delicious, and I ended up eating too much. There was also a great variety of desserts, which made it even more enjoyable. That day, I went to the Tulip Festival in Yubetsu Town—after seeing the beautiful flowers, breathing in the fresh air, and enjoying a wonderful meal, it became a truly memorable day.

This was my second stay here. As with my previous visit, the two older gentlemen who greeted us were very pleasant, and their warm welcome made us feel truly appreciated—excellent hospitality. Above all, I think Sarugakyo Hotel’s service is outstanding. There wasn’t a single staff member who made me feel uncomfortable. The person who assisted us during meals was from Nepal; perhaps they are still getting used to the work, but their sincerity really came through and I never felt uneasy at all. I ordered oolong tea, but when they repeated the order they said orange juice—so I corrected it, yet what arrived was orange juice (laugh). That was completely acceptable. It was delicious! The next morning, they greeted me with “Thank you for yesterday,” which made me happy. Thank you as well. Both dinner and breakfast were very tasty and generously portioned—we were completely satisfied. The Onsen was kept extremely clean and felt wonderful. Thanks to everyone at the Hotel, we had a very comfortable stay. We also really enjoyed playing table tennis. We will definitely come back again.
