The weather wasn’t great, but the view from the window was wonderful, and I had a comfortable stay. The meals looked beautiful and tasted great, and I really enjoyed them. I was surprised by the afternoon-tea-style presentation. Towels are provided at the Onsen, so you can go without bringing anything. You can wear the samue anywhere in the building, which makes it very relaxing. The samue is comfortable to wear, and it has pockets so you can carry your phone with you.

At first, I felt the price was high, but after staying there, I was more than satisfied with the value. Both the Accommodation and the Room felt open and airy, and in a secluded, hideaway-like atmosphere, the staff’s warm smiles made my stay truly comfortable. The food was excellent and delicious, and the bowls and plates—beautifully chosen to match each ingredient—were also wonderful. You may get insects or leaves blowing in, but that’s only natural in such surroundings. Everything was kept very clean, so it didn’t bother me at all. It’s an Accommodation that makes you want to come back.

Only 10 Rooms on a spacious property. The grove garden right in front of you is a private view (guests cannot enter), giving you the true feel of a vacation home. We were completely satisfied with everything—the Room, the semi-open-air bath in the Room, the open-air bath at the large public bath, and dinner featuring an array of premium ingredients considered luxurious in Japanese cuisine, as well as breakfast with just the right portion size. If we had to make one small request, it would be that the bath towels were a bit thicker.

From the moment we boarded the elevator to the Ryokan from in front of Sounzan Station, it was an exciting experience. The Accommodation and all the staff welcomed us with a warm atmosphere, and everything—the Room, the carefully prepared meals, the Onsen, and the views—was wonderfully soothing. We were able to spend a slow, quiet, luxurious time. Thank you very much.

This trip was to celebrate my mother’s birthday. She requested to see the Onsen she had visited with my late father during their honeymoon, and also the snow monkeys at Jigokudani Monkey Park. We chose this Accommodation because Reviews repeatedly mentioned the private family bath and a homey, relaxing atmosphere. True to the Reviews, it was a wonderfully quiet and peaceful place. The warm glow of washi paper lamps displayed throughout was beautiful, and we could feel the proprietress’s thoughtful care in every detail. And the food—absolutely delicious! Dinner just kept coming (laugh). Every dish was freshly made and served hot. The best of all was the kake soba hand-made by the chef that very morning. I love soba and visit many places, but I’m sorry—this was truly the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Breakfast also made us happy with piping-hot dashimaki tamago. The highlight of breakfast was the miso soup—I wanted to take home the whole pot. As we’ve gotten older, we choose our trips carefully based on both meals and Accommodation quality, and this place offered outstanding value for money. More than anything, we made unforgettable memories here. On our way out, I bought one of the lamps that were on display at the Accommodation as a gift for my mother. Thanks to you, it became the best birthday present possible. We’ll come again in winter—and again for her birthday next year too. I stayed here as an Accommodation while traveling with my parent in their 80s. The building is a bit old, and the stairs are somewhat steep. The staff service, meals, and Onsen were excellent. My parent was very happy as well. If I have the chance to visit again, I would definitely like to stay here.

I chose this Hotel because I like the SOIL brand, and it was an even better stay than I expected! I really loved the exterior that blends into the scenery of the Nagato Yumoto area, and the interior design that seems to value natural colors. The staff kept a comfortable level of distance, and I also enjoyed dinner at the restaurant. The sauna on the top floor had just the right humidity, so it didn’t feel too intense even when staying in longer than usual despite the temperature. Relaxing while listening to higurashi cicadas may end up being this summer’s highlight!

The staff struck just the right balance, and both the meals and the soothing hot spring were wonderful. It was a fantastic free-flowing bath with no chlorine smell. We enjoyed an affordable stay, drank plenty of beer, and were treated to Shuttle Service by car—truly a luxurious time. Thank you very much.

The kids’ meals and amenities were excellent, and the Facility environment was wonderful for keeping children entertained. The kids’ room is open 24 hours, so even children who wake up early and are full of energy could enjoy themselves to the fullest. When our older grandchild fell ill on the second day, you were a tremendous help—preparing gentle-on-the-stomach meals and promptly taking care of the bedding. The adults who enjoy drinks also thoroughly enjoyed the all-inclusive plan. We would love to visit again. Just one request: we would feel safer if an additional lock for access to the open-air bath and footbath area could be installed higher up as well. Our 4-year-old can unlock doors on their own, and we felt anxious about them accidentally stepping out onto the terrace and potentially falling into the river. Thank you for considering this.

We stayed here with a total of 12 people, including my parents and my sister’s family. The Onsen and the Room were both clean and very comfortable. The meals were also delicious, and I was especially happy to see my mother enjoy them. Yamagata Prefecture is where my mother’s family is from, and I have visited many times since childhood. Wherever you go, you can enjoy Onsen, great food, skiing in winter, and warm hospitality—it’s one of my favorite places. Next time, I’d love to come again with the family members who couldn’t join us this time. Thank you very much.

We stayed at Fugaku Gunjo as a couple during a summer holiday we were able to take at short notice. Away from the bustle of everyday life, we were able to spend unhurried time together in a quiet setting. Even though it was a short stay, it felt deeply fulfilling. Although we were blessed with clear weather on the day of our stay, the typical summer haze meant we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji clearly during the daytime. Then, around 6:00 the next morning, I happened to glance outside and there it was—Mt. Fuji standing out in crisp detail. Its powerful, beautiful summer presence—so different from its snow-capped 모습—left a lasting impression. Listening to cicadas, simply taking in the view and enjoying time doing nothing. Even moments when we would normally keep ourselves busy felt like a luxury here. It was an experience unique to Fugaku Gunjo, where only the sounds of nature blend into the stillness. The dining was also exceptional. The French kaiseki dinner showcased each ingredient with great care, and every course was a pleasure. Japanese and French elements came together naturally, creating refined dishes that remained enjoyable through to the end. Breakfast was equally memorable. The rice cooked in a traditional pot was truly delicious—we realized we had finished every last bite between us without even noticing. We also learned that some of their rice and vegetables are grown on their own farm, and we were impressed by how seriously this Accommodation values its ingredients from the very source. Not just presentation but attention to these details is what elevates the entire stay. What especially stayed with us this time was the hospitality of all staff members. From Shuttle Service to check-in and dining, everyone we met was friendly and welcoming with genuine smiles—and their sense of distance felt perfectly comfortable as well. Their warm hospitality never felt formal or scripted; it put us at ease again and again throughout our stay. Though it was only one night and two days, everything from arrival to departure felt consistently pleasant. Beyond the spectacular views, beautiful rooms, and wonderful food—from growing ingredients on their own farm to thoughtful attentiveness by staff—you can feel careful dedication throughout this Accommodation. Looking back on this trip, it feels less like “an Accommodation you stay at for sightseeing somewhere else,” and more like “a place you travel for in order to spend time here.” Next time, we’d love to visit in another season—and enjoy a trip where staying at Fugaku Gunjo itself is our main purpose once again as a couple.

We stayed here for my girlfriend’s birthday trip. We made a Reservation with the birthday Plan, and everything—the cake, dinner, Room decorations, and bouquet—was wonderful and made the trip truly special. We would love to stay again when we visit Ehime. Thank you very much.

Both breakfast and dinner were exceptionally delicious, and we were completely satisfied. The view from the lounge was wonderful. From the in-room scenic bath, we could look out over the sea, and from the living area we could see airplanes up close. In the open-air bath of the large public bath, we could look up at planes just before landing, and were truly impressed by how powerful it was. We look forward to visiting again next year after the renovations are completed.

Because the property is operated by a small team, there were a few minor things I noticed, but the meals were delicious and served in just the right portions, and I was able to enjoy the bath to my satisfaction with a Reservation. I’d love to come back in autumn to see the fall foliage.

We stayed here as three generations, traveling with my parents-in-law. Before our stay, I contacted the Accommodation twice to ask whether our Rooms could be on the same floor, whether we could dine in the same venue, and about meals for the children. Both times, the staff responded courteously, which made us feel at ease on the day of arrival. As this is a long-established Ryokan, the building is not new, but it has a calm atmosphere that suited my parents-in-law perfectly. Some wallpaper in parts of the Room was peeling, and perhaps due to a special type of wallpaper there was some fuzz that seemed to float around, but overall the Room was relatively clean. The meals were kaiseki-style and just the right amount; our family enjoyed them very much. The staff also explained each dish carefully, making it a truly pleasant dining experience. There was also an excellent selection of alcoholic drinks. When traveling with children we often end up choosing buffet-style dining elsewhere, so it was a great experience for them to enjoy kaiseki cuisine as well. In the lounge, perhaps because it is open to non-staying guests too, all seats were taken at first; once seats became available they called our Room via internal phone so we could use it. We were able to spend relaxing time together as a family. As for the Onsen, there is nothing to complain about—the water quality was wonderful and the large public bath was clean. Overall, I felt that the high level of hospitality from all staff members is what drives guest satisfaction here. The Facility itself may not stand out compared with other Ryokan in every respect, but their hospitality more than makes up for it. Thank you very much.

The building is old, but it’s clean and has a nice feel. If the weather is clear, a walk along the seaside would be great. You can also use the rooftop open-air bath anytime during your stay. Breakfast was a good portion and very tasty. However, it seems the menu doesn’t change even for a Multiple Night Stay, so keep that in mind. There’s also a Royal Host next door, so you won’t have any trouble. The Room is spacious enough for the price, but the sofa is small, so it’s hard for two people to relax comfortably together. Staying at a luxury Ryokan and enjoying an upscale Hotel experience is nice too, but Beppu has been getting more lively lately—so I think it’s also fun to stay at a great-value Hotel like this one and enjoy nightlife around town. I’d like to drop by again sometime.

It was a wonderful Accommodation where we could relax, take our time, and unwind. All the staff greeted us with smiles and guided us efficiently and pleasantly. From the Room window, the Hoki River flowed swiftly, and the sound of the water was quite loud, but we actually found it soothing and it added to the feeling of being on a trip. The Onsen included a large public bath and an open-air bath, and the water temperature was just right—very comfortable. However, depending on where you stand, you may be able to see into the bathroom from the Room window, so those who are concerned may want to be mindful of that. For dinner, they kindly changed a meat dish to a fish dish; my husband, who doesn’t like meat, was very happy, and everything was delicious—we enjoyed great conversation as well. Also, being able to dine in a private room was a plus: it felt more relaxed than in-room dining while still allowing us to enjoy our meal calmly without worrying about others nearby. With an 11:00 check-out time, we were able to take it easy in the morning too—this Accommodation was perfect for my husband and me as we like taking small trips for rest and a change of pace. We stayed with three couples we know. The Room was spacious and clean, earning high marks. The bath was a proper Onsen. Because of the rain, the outdoor bath temperature was a little lukewarm, but once you soak in it, you warm up nicely. The sound of the clear stream in front was soothing, and it felt like being surrounded by negative ions. At dinner, the appetizer course in particular was delicious—delicate and enjoyable with a variety of flavors. It alone pairs well with plenty of drinks. The meal portions were very generous, and we couldn’t finish the final rice dish. I recommend arriving hungry. Breakfast rice was also delicious and very satisfying. The staff were attentive and greeted us with warm smiles. The Accommodation isn’t large, but it offers great hospitality and tasty meals, so I think it’s excellent value for money. Since it’s right by the river, we felt it’s an Accommodation where you can relax while listening to the clear stream. It’s an Accommodation I would recommend to other friends as well. We’d love to visit again.

We searched for an all-inclusive, ocean-view Hotel with breakfast and dinner buffets and a pool, and stayed here as a family during our summer vacation. The wide variety of all-inclusive options, the breakfast and dinner buffets with live cooking stations, the pool, and the many types of Onsen were all wonderful. We also enjoyed the free soap-making activity with our child. Everyone at the Hotel was truly kind. They always greeted us with smiles and attentive service, never showing any sign of being busy or affected by the heat. We were deeply impressed by their hospitality and were able to relax at a very leisurely pace. Even during the Shuttle Service on our departure day, they saw us off at the bus despite how busy mornings are—we were touched until the very end. We would definitely like to stay again. It was an amazing summer memory for both children and adults—everything was taken care of.

From the moment we arrived, your attentive yet warmly familiar hospitality was perfectly balanced. The entire property was kept impeccably clean and well maintained. The furnishings, interior design, fragrance, and tableware— everything reflected consistently high-quality service throughout.
