With a free-flowing natural hot spring bath in the Room, in-room dining, and a massage chair, everything can be enjoyed without leaving your Room. This is the best place for a stay-in retreat! We chose the Gourmet Light Meal Plan, and it was just the right amount for us in our 60s. A highly recommended Accommodation.

This was my first time visiting Ikaho Onsen. The Hotel we stayed at, Seikanso, has a long history, and while the building does show its age, that gives it character and is a good thing. The Room had been renovated and was nice; however, the carpeted area by the window where the sofa is felt old and had an unpleasant lingering odor that seemed to have built up over many years. The fabric sofa also had a similar smell, so I ventilated the Room whenever I returned. I understand that investing in upgrades can be difficult, but this part was disappointing. That said, the staff’s hospitality was excellent, and I am very grateful.

I visited with my husband for a belated wedding anniversary. The welcome at the entrance by so many staff members was amazing—I was truly surprised. The grand lobby was wonderful, filled with the sound of a pipe organ and an indescribable atmosphere, and the classical furnishings were beautiful as well. We stayed in Building No. 8 in a Japanese-style room with beds. It was incredibly spacious, with a stunning view and the soothing sound of the river flowing below. There was also a TV in the bedroom. The vanity area was large, and even the private bath had Onsen water—pure luxury. The rooftop garden bath was beyond amazing, and all of the other baths were excellent too. Watching trains go by while soaking, seeing birds of prey spread their wings across the sky, and taking in the mountain range—it all felt mystical. I wanted to stay forever... Dinner was served in a semi-private room (almost completely private—and very spacious), and it was an outstanding kaiseki meal with incredible attention to detail worthy of a traditional restaurant. At the end, we even received an anniversary gift from the proprietress—it meant so much to us, and we are truly grateful. Breakfast was also delicious—especially the dashimaki tamago; I became a big fan. Each dish was beautifully crafted and tasted wonderful as well. We will definitely return—this became a truly special memory for us. Thank you very much. P.S. 1: The Asaya manju were unbelievably delicious—I made Reservations for four boxes, and everyone loved them. P.S. 2: The lounge was also fantastic—stylish interior design with wonderful craftsmanship; the sweets were delicious, and they even prepared matcha for us. The manju served with it were Asaya manju as well—an Accommodation that showed heartfelt care in every detail. I would like to order Asaya manju again.

We stayed here to celebrate my mother’s 60th birthday. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, and we felt comfortable throughout our stay! Thank you for the warm hospitality and attentive service! The Room I had wanted to stay in for so long was very clean and spacious, and I’m truly glad we chose it—we had a genuinely happy time. The Onsen was never crowded, and there was also a sauna, so we could relax at our own pace—it was wonderful! My mother was absolutely delighted, and it became a memorable trip. This is a Ryokan I definitely want to visit again. Thank you so much!!

Staying at Naraya for my first trip to Kusatsu Onsen was truly the best choice. From the moment I arrived until I left, I received warm, heartfelt hospitality in every situation, and I was able to relax and enjoy my stay. The staff’s thoughtful attention to detail could be felt throughout, making this a wonderful Accommodation that made me want to return. Both dinner and breakfast were served in a private dining room, allowing me to take my time in a calm atmosphere. Dinner in particular was outstanding—every dish from the appetizers to the final dessert was delicious, and there were fun touches such as having sushi prepared during the meal. It was such an enjoyable experience that I honestly thought, “I want to come back just for this food.” The Onsen was also excellent; my skin felt wonderfully smooth after bathing, and it may be my favorite water of any Onsen I’ve visited. The location is another highlight—just a short walk to Yubatake—so I enjoyed strolling around many times in the evening, at night, and again the next morning. I was completely satisfied with everything: the cuisine, the Onsen, the service, and the location. There are so many more wonderful things I could mention; it made my first trip to Kusatsu Onsen truly memorable. I would love to stay at Naraya again. Thank you very much for such a lovely time.

We stayed at Fugaku Gunjo as a couple during a summer holiday we were able to take at short notice. Away from the bustle of everyday life, we were able to spend unhurried time together in a quiet setting. Even though it was a short stay, it felt deeply fulfilling. Although we were blessed with clear weather on the day of our stay, the typical summer haze meant we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji clearly during the daytime. Then, around 6:00 the next morning, I happened to glance outside and there it was—Mt. Fuji standing out in crisp detail. Its powerful, beautiful summer presence—so different from its snow-capped 모습—left a lasting impression. Listening to cicadas, simply taking in the view and enjoying time doing nothing. Even moments when we would normally keep ourselves busy felt like a luxury here. It was an experience unique to Fugaku Gunjo, where only the sounds of nature blend into the stillness. The dining was also exceptional. The French kaiseki dinner showcased each ingredient with great care, and every course was a pleasure. Japanese and French elements came together naturally, creating refined dishes that remained enjoyable through to the end. Breakfast was equally memorable. The rice cooked in a traditional pot was truly delicious—we realized we had finished every last bite between us without even noticing. We also learned that some of their rice and vegetables are grown on their own farm, and we were impressed by how seriously this Accommodation values its ingredients from the very source. Not just presentation but attention to these details is what elevates the entire stay. What especially stayed with us this time was the hospitality of all staff members. From Shuttle Service to check-in and dining, everyone we met was friendly and welcoming with genuine smiles—and their sense of distance felt perfectly comfortable as well. Their warm hospitality never felt formal or scripted; it put us at ease again and again throughout our stay. Though it was only one night and two days, everything from arrival to departure felt consistently pleasant. Beyond the spectacular views, beautiful rooms, and wonderful food—from growing ingredients on their own farm to thoughtful attentiveness by staff—you can feel careful dedication throughout this Accommodation. Looking back on this trip, it feels less like “an Accommodation you stay at for sightseeing somewhere else,” and more like “a place you travel for in order to spend time here.” Next time, we’d love to visit in another season—and enjoy a trip where staying at Fugaku Gunjo itself is our main purpose once again as a couple.

It had been a while since I last experienced truly Ryokan-style hospitality in Japan. Even if you go out of your way to stay somewhere other than a Hotel, an Accommodation designated as a cultural property or one with a long history is not always guaranteed to be comfortable—but this time, the proprietress’s service in particular stood out, and I was able to appreciate her refined and thoughtful attention to detail.

This is a small Hotel right in front of Lake Chuzenji, and we had a wonderful trip thanks to the thoughtful hospitality of all the staff. Both dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented and delicious, and we truly enjoyed them. My elderly mother was also very pleased. This is a highly recommended Hotel, and we would love to stay again if we have the opportunity.

This was my third stay—an Accommodation I always want to return to. Since it’s at the gateway to Izu, it took just two hours from Tokyo, and with great hot springs and great food, we thoroughly enjoyed our two days. It’s well known as an Accommodation for hot-spring hopping, and this time too I soaked several times in the semi-open-air bath in our Room, enjoying the silky water that feels wonderful on the skin. One of the highlights here is also being able to enjoy grilled abalone and spiny lobster. What I notice every time is how friendly all the staff are, while still being properly professional—I can tell their training is excellent. I’d love to visit again.

I stayed here on a solo trip as a treat for myself. From the moment I arrived, I was comforted by the staff’s warm and attentive hospitality. The meals were packed with fresh vegetables, with generous portions—I was completely satisfied. On top of that, the all-you-can-drink option, pre-dinner snacks, and dessert service made it a truly pampering stay. I was so full after dinner that I unfortunately couldn’t eat dessert, but next time I’d like to plan my appetite better so I can enjoy it. Even when we drove past the Hotel on our way out, the staff waved to me with big smiles, and it left me feeling warmly happy—almost to tears. Next time I’ll come with my family. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

I stayed at Yufuin Sansuikan, and everything—from the Onsen and meals to the all-inclusive service—was absolutely satisfying! The Onsen water was silky and gentle, kind to the skin, and incredibly relaxing. Dinner was buffet-style, so our international guests could freely choose whatever they liked and enjoy it. Every dish was delicious, with so many tempting options that I ended up eating too much. The Oita Wagyu steak in particular was outstanding. Another highlight was the all-inclusive service, which allowed us to enjoy complimentary drinks—including alcohol—from check-in through dinner. Above all, thanks to the warm hospitality of the president and the proprietress, we were able to spend a truly enjoyable and memorable time. Thank you for a wonderful stay. I would love to visit again.

My mother stayed with you on this occasion with three friends. She told me that everything—the Room, the Onsen, and the meals—was outstanding. To celebrate her 77th birthday, you prepared a purple hood and vest for photos and also provided celebratory red rice buns, which made for wonderful memories, and she is truly grateful. Although the three of them travel to many places, they were deeply impressed by your exceptional hospitality. Thank you very much.

The Onsen had both hot and lukewarm baths, and I alternated between them. The meals were plentiful and left me completely full; there was a great variety, with nothing to complain about. The front desk staff were kind and helped me with many things. The dining staff were attentive and efficient. This is a Hotel I would like to stay at again.

I chose this Hotel because I love the SOIL brand, and it was an even better stay than I expected! I really liked the exterior design that blends into the scenery of the Nagato Yumoto area, as well as the interior design that seems to value natural colors. The staff kept a comfortable level of distance, and I also enjoyed dinner at the restaurant. The sauna on the top floor had just the right humidity, so it didn’t feel too intense even when staying in longer than usual despite the temperature. Relaxing while listening to the evening cicadas may end up being one of my highlights of this summer!

You kindly called us the night before our stay, and on the day you picked us up at Unazuki Onsen Station after our trolley train sightseeing. Everyone at the Accommodation provided attentive service, and we were soothed by the view of the Kurobe River from both our Room and the large public bath. The meals were delicious and more than we could finish, and we were completely satisfied in every way. You also guided us on a firefly walk, which made it a wonderful trip.

Revisited on December 12, 2025. As last year, we thoroughly enjoyed Matsuba crab. Since female crab is only available until the end of the year, we visited in December. We ordered an additional female crab and upgraded the dried fish at breakfast to nodoguro. This time, we also made a Reservation for a private Onsen bath to fully enjoy the Onsen. The private bath was excellent—if there’s availability, I highly recommend trying it. Our Room this time was Oborozuki, and the semi-open-air bath in the Room allows you to adjust the depth. This was very convenient: keep it shallow when getting in and out, and make it deeper when soaking. Lastly, it seems some guests found the executive chef’s performance a bit overbearing, but it didn’t bother me at all—perhaps because I’ve experienced much flashier performances overseas many times. We’d like to return again next year.

The building was new and very clean, and the Room was thoroughly cleaned down to every corner. It was spacious, and we had a very comfortable stay. The meals were also delicious. Although the staff were from overseas, they were kind and helpful—thank you very much. As it was our 13th wedding anniversary, we also received a surprise dessert plate—thank you very much.

Thank you for taking care of our family of four for one night and two days. One of us was delayed due to work and might not have made it in time for dinner. When we informed the staff, they kindly changed our dining Room and made various thoughtful arrangements so that even if we arrived late, we could relax without rushing. We were in a difficult situation, and I was truly moved by your deep hospitality. I asked for their name, but they said, “We all do this together...” To Mr./Ms. K-sawa and all the staff members at the dinner venue, thank you very much for everything. I was deeply impressed. We will come again. Thank you so much!!

I stayed here with my elderly parents. We requested smaller portions in advance, and the amount was perfect. We usually end up leaving some, but we finished everything. Every dish was carefully prepared, and the tableware was lovely. It was truly delicious. The Onsen in our Room was also wonderful, and my parents enjoyed it many times. The staff were very courteous and thoughtful in many ways. Thank you very much. We would love to visit again!

[Room & Bath] The in-Room private hot-spring bath (free-flowing from the source) was spacious enough for two adults to relax comfortably. However, the toilet and washbasin are not separated in a Western-style layout, which some guests may find less private depending on who they are traveling with. [Dining] Each dish was carefully prepared and truly delicious. The chef’s delicate decorative carrot carving was outstanding.
