I love traveling solo to Onsen and visit places all over the whole country. I’d heard of Umegashima Onsen, but for some reason it had never been on my list—what a loss, haha. Last month I stayed at Umegashima Onsen for the first time (at a different Accommodation), and it quickly became one of my favorite Onsen. This time as well, it was great that they only accept a small number of guests and offer private reserved baths. That said, I like to soak in the Onsen whenever I want as many times as I like, so I often choose an Accommodation with an in-Room bath or one that’s available 24 hours. Unfortunately, here it was only available until 11:00 p.m. Also, having to ask the staff each time to get the key made me feel hesitant. I wish I could use it more freely without worrying about bothering anyone. The meals were absolutely delicious. The ingredients were different from what I’m used to in the Izu Peninsula or Hakone, which made everything feel very fresh.

The entire Accommodation is covered with tatami mats, making it exceptionally comfortable and relaxing. Some staff members speak English and Chinese, and they always greeted us with a smile while kindly explaining the Facility. The staff in charge of our meals were also very attentive and even helped us crack the crab. What impressed us most was that they remembered our faces and Room number right after check-in. At check-out, they promptly prepared our shoes and luggage. The meals were luxurious and delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed high-quality seafood (crab) as well as beef. This time we chose two options—sukiyaki and shabu-shabu. Shabu-shabu is a bit more expensive, but it is well worth the price. The Onsen facilities were excellent: in addition to the indoor bath, the open-air area had a hot bath, a cold bath, and even a sauna—perfect. We were also happy that the hair dryer was ReFa! The post-bath lounge (relaxation area) offered various drinks, light snacks, and massage chairs. Personally, I think this is an outstanding Accommodation that rivals Hoshino Resorts KAI. While the building itself feels slightly dated, I found the quality of the cuisine to be far superior to Hoshino Resorts. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

The Room I had wanted to stay in for a long time was just as wonderful as I expected. This meal menu was very good!! If I may be picky, since there is plenty of hot pot, I personally think thinly sliced pork would be easier to eat. I was able to relax again this time. I will visit again.

We stayed for two nights with two young children and loved it. Check-in via the machine was smooth, the room was spacious, and we could relax comfortably on the sofa. The bathroom was also very large, and the big mirror at the sink was very convenient. The staff were kind as well. We will stay here again next time we visit Disney.

This was our second repeat stay. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us. [Room] The staff member in charge of our room was the same person who looked after us so well last time, and we truly appreciated the thoughtful, attentive hospitality. Because I have trouble with my legs and found the floor chair in the room inconvenient, I asked whether a regular chair could be provided next time, and they listened carefully and sincerely to my request. [Meals] Once again, the explanations of each dish were very easy to understand. As each course arrived, everything was a delight for both the eyes and the palate—enjoyable and impressive throughout. Both breakfast and dinner conveyed how wholeheartedly the chefs strive to create their best dishes in harmony with the seasons. With details such as information about ingredients’ origins and small hands-on touches like grilling or grating at the table, every meal had variety and a wonderful sense of rhythm that never became monotonous. [A moment in the lobby] While waiting for our meal, we enjoyed tea in the lobby and had a pleasant conversation with a staff member from France who spoke fluent Japanese. We could also feel how brightly motivated—and seriously dedicated—the younger staff members were as they worked. There were many things we learned from everyone on staff. [Hot spring] We were extremely satisfied with both the view and tranquility of the private bath in our room. Soaking at leisure while watching scenery change over time truly feels luxurious. While bathing, I was able to rediscover not only nature’s beauty but also how precious time is—and even learn something new about myself. [Byakudan] Byakudan is a place where its people, cuisine, hot springs, and atmosphere gently welcome every guest. Next time, we hope to visit again in spring. I’d also like to try an esthetic treatment for the first time—so until then, I’ll do my best at work!

The views are simply breathtaking. The property feels as if it was built to coexist with nature, leaving even the old trees untouched—I found myself wondering how many years they have stood there. The staff range widely in age, and it was wonderful to see even very senior team members working there. Perhaps because of the surrounding wilderness, everyone had such warm smiles and gave a bright, welcoming impression. The room uses a retro key lock rather than a modern card key, which may feel a bit inconvenient if you’re used to card keys, but I actually enjoyed the charm. With the bedroom separated from the living area, I slept very soundly. At night we had a sky full of stars, and in the morning a soft red sunrise—the sky was truly beautiful. Because dinner times are assigned in check-in order, ours was late; however, it was less crowded later on. We were also able to enjoy chuhai cocktails, juice, and snacks at the bar “Kiraku,” so we had no trouble waiting until dinner. At 10:00 p.m., they served complimentary late-night soba noodles—my first time trying it—and it was light yet delicious. There was a wine cellar in the room stocked with wine, and an open-air bath on the balcony. It was an extremely satisfying one-night stay (two days).

This was my first stay. The station and morning market were close by, and the view from the open-air bath was amazing, so I was very satisfied. The staff were also pleasant and welcoming. The only disappointing point was that the restaurant I chose with the breakfast voucher wasn’t very good. I had been looking forward to breakfast at the morning market, so that was a shame—choosing the right place matters. Everything else was great, and I’d like to visit again.

From arrival to departure, it was a truly satisfying trip. The food was not only delicious, but also beautifully presented for the eyes to enjoy. The Room was spacious and clean, and with various types of Rooms available, you can enjoy staying here again and again. Because Gyokusui’s cuisine is outstanding, I had been wanting to visit other Gyokusui locations as well. When I was told there is a Gyokusui in Kawazu, I received a brochure and would definitely like to visit next time.

I have been an IKYU Diamond member since before COVID, with two regular Accommodations—one in Ito and one in Enzan—and I had been looking for another place I would want to return to. It was hard to find one. At last, I found Akazawa Guest House. It’s an Accommodation you’ll want to visit again and again. My companion had a blister from sandals, but after soaking in the deep ocean water several times, we were amazed to notice on the third day that it had healed. Akazawa Spa is free of charge, and what I especially loved was that the private sauna is also free. We had so much fun with bowling, billiards, darts—everything—that staying two nights was absolutely worth it. Of course, the staff were wonderful as well. The foreign staff member who served our meals had a lovely smile, spoke excellent Japanese, and made our conversations truly enjoyable. We will be back again—thank you in advance for your continued hospitality next time.

I stayed for 3 nights. Just a few minutes’ walk to the station. A great location, about 30 minutes to Shinjuku. The view feels nothing like Tokyo—you can see Mt. Fuji from the room, there’s a large park right in front, and a lovely promenade lined with shops just outside the hotel. The room is simple, stylish, and thoughtfully designed with no wasted space—an extremely comfortable place to relax. The staff were outstanding as well. And the infinity pool was amazing—it felt like an overseas resort hotel. Whenever I stay in Tokyo, this is the only hotel I choose.

We stayed here for one night during our Yokohama and Kamakura trip. It’s conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from Yokohama Station, with plenty of restaurants and department stores nearby. We left our luggage before check-in and went sightseeing in Yokohama. Since the front desk is set further inside, it might be a little hard to find at first. We chose this hotel because we wanted a place with separate bath and toilet, and a recommended breakfast. For breakfast, you choose a main dish and the side dishes are buffet-style. You can pick from a variety of small plates. The room was spacious and very clean, and we could fill the tub with hot water and enjoy a relaxing soak. With its brown-toned interior, the room had a calm atmosphere that made it easy to unwind. The bakery in the lobby is highly recommended! Definitely give it a try—we even bought some to take home at check-out. We’d love to stay here again when we visit Yokohama. This was our first time using this travel site, and by using points we were able to stay at a great price. It’s an upscale hotel, and the quality absolutely lived up to expectations.

I stayed again at my favorite Tamaya Ryokan on October 9. As always, everything was impeccably clean, and from the moment I entered the room I was able to relax and enjoy a comfortable stay. The warm hospitality of all the staff was truly soothing. It was right in matsutake season, so the matsutake dishes at dinner were outstanding. I look forward to visiting again during the season of fresh greenery.

I stayed here the night before my trip to Gifu. The hotel is connected to an amusement facility and also has hot springs. I was able to use the hot springs and also dine at the restaurant attached to them! (I wasn’t expecting much, but the food was delicious.) The room was spacious, and I had a very comfortable stay. I wasn’t feeling well in the morning, and I really appreciated that you accommodated a late check-out. I would like to stay here again when I visit the area.

We stayed here over the 3-day weekend and had a wonderful time. There are two or three affiliated hotels on the large property, so the entrance was a bit hard to find, but it was an excellent hotel. The rooms are separate standalone villas, each with a balcony and a large bath—perfect for relaxing. For meals, we were taken by cart to the neighboring affiliated hotel. The route passes through what looks like a Nitori parking lot, but apparently it is all part of the hotel grounds, so you can drive without license plates. The full-course Japanese dinner at the impressive on-site restaurant was delicious. Breakfast was an upscale buffet, and we even caught sight of the Sunflower ferry at just the right moment from the window. It’s about a 15-minute drive from the hot spring town. For this price, we were more than satisfied, and the staff service was outstanding.\nWe will definitely return.

This was my first time staying here. It’s very close to the station, so the location is excellent. The bathtub was spacious, and I was able to relax and enjoy my stay. Thank you very much. I would definitely like to stay again if I have the opportunity.

We truly enjoyed the delicious meals at both breakfast and dinner. The bath was also very comfortable. The ocean view from our Room and from the large public bath was especially beautiful and memorable. By chance, we were able to see fireworks, which delighted our granddaughter. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

I stayed here for work near Tamachi. The walls are thick, so it’s quiet and clean, and the bathroom and toilet are separate. Complimentary mineral water is also provided, making this a highly recommended Hotel for business use. The Room is small and the view from the window isn’t great, but that’s to be expected for a Business Hotel in central Tokyo, so I deducted one star.

This was our nth stay across both the green and ski seasons, and once again we had a very comfortable visit. In particular, perhaps the head chef has changed, but the food was the best we’ve ever had here. The renovated open-air bath was also very relaxing. Staff regularly came by to clean up any debris in the bath area, and it reminded us that these small thoughtful touches add up to make the entire hotel so pleasant. We’d love to return when we have the chance.

Despite being in the midst of Tenjin’s urban bustle, I was able to spend a serene time that felt like a different world. I was highly satisfied with everything from the hospitality and Facility to the amenities and dining. This stay reaffirmed for me the essential value of Hotel service: forgetting everyday life, relaxing, and recharging for tomorrow. In particular, the “perfectly balanced sense of distance” in the service throughout the Hotel and the pleasantly unpretentious atmosphere were truly comfortable. As one of Fukuoka’s premier luxury hotels, it isn’t an experience I can have often, but it left a lasting impression and is a Hotel I would love to stay at again someday.
