Atami Season Hotel

The building, interior, and fittings felt quite dated and reminiscent of the bubble era, but everything was kept very clean. The Room was spacious, and two of us were able to use it comfortably. We stayed one night during extreme heat, but the air conditioning worked very well—if anything, it was almost chilly.Amenities were limited to the basics, but we didn’t have any issues.Perhaps because it was a weekday (and there aren’t many guest Rooms to begin with), the property was quiet and the large public bath wasn’t crowded either, so our stay was comfortable throughout.One thing: although Yahoo Travel listed checkout as 11:00, we were told on-site that it was 10:00. That was unexpected—was it a listing error? We thought we’d be able to relax a bit longer, so that part was disappointing.

I booked a Japanese-Western style Room with an open-air bath because I wanted to enjoy the night view from the bath. Although the building is old, I liked its charming design, which once earned it recognition as a “small luxury Hotel.” At check-in, the receptionist provided a thorough explanation, and even though it was before 3:00 p.m., we were allowed into the Room early and could relax. The Room was spacious, and the view from the open-air bath was exceptional—especially at night—so I enjoyed it many times. Meals were buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner (dinner was half-buffet with free drinks). While there wasn’t a huge variety of dishes, it was satisfying for older guests. I would like to stay again if I have the chance. Thank you for your hospitality.
