  It was excellent.

  Both the Facility and the Room were very clean! Even cleaner than other well-maintained Accommodations. The meals were delicious, and after gradually getting used to Kusatsu’s characteristically hot Onsen, I felt refreshed for the first time in a while and slept soundly. I was surprised at first that there was no air conditioner, but with the windows fully open and using a fan and a handheld fan, it was not a problem at all. I stayed with my daughter, and we will definitely return. Thank you very much.

  We had a relaxing stay.

  Located right in front of the Yubatake, yet it was wonderfully quiet. Each piece of furniture was so beautiful I wanted to photograph it, the artwork on display was all tasteful, and even the hallways gleamed. It is a historic building with a strong sense of tradition, but the Room has been renovated to be comfortable and easy to spend time in. I sincerely hope it will continue to stand with dignity without catering too much to passing trends. I will be back again.

  Excellent location, with courteous and friendly service.

  Right in front of the Yubatake, at the entrance to the main street, with a convenience store next door. With only a few Rooms, it offers a calm atmosphere. Some Rooms overlook the Yubatake, and breakfast includes the proprietress’s homemade sashimi konnyaku. The bath is underground, but the water temperature is just right. The parking lot is a bit away, but the Accommodation staff handled bringing the car in and out for us.

  草津良いとこ一度はおいで

  A hidden gem Onsen Ryokan in Kusatsu, cherished for 40 years.

  This time, my travel plans were decided suddenly, so I made a direct reservation with Yamamoto-kan, but due to server issues, I used IKYU.com. After finishing work on the day of the trip, I headed straight by car and arrived 30 minutes later than planned. The owner's son greeted me at the entrance with a formal posture. After filling out the accommodation register, the ever-beautiful proprietress informed me that "meals cannot be prepared." Later, I learned this was due to kitchen renovations expected to last until early December. It took some time to understand the situation; however, thanks to her arrangements, she introduced me to a good restaurant where I could have dinner. Still, it couldn't compare to what she usually serves herself. The phrase "meals cannot be prepared" kept echoing in my mind. Other than that incident, as always: wonderful baths and buildings with cultural heritage charm; excellent hospitality from all staff members at the accommodation. One suggestion for IKYU.com: please make such information about meals more prominently visible on your site since various people use it—some may visit under similar assumptions as we did!
