I’d stopped feeling any sense of novelty in staying in Karuizawa, but thanks to this hotel I discovered a completely new kind of enjoyment. Being able to check in without even a full minute’s walk from the Shinkansen ticket gates is impressive enough, but the rooms are simply extraordinary. Many luxury hotels these days rely on breathtaking views from high floors—but this is different. Here, you’re surrounded by truly beautiful furnishings and refined taste, and it made me realize all over again that the room itself is what defines a hotel’s value. I don’t think I can convey this happiness unless you actually stay here, so I’ll stop there—but on the night I got home, I fell asleep thinking how much I wanted to go right back and how wonderful everything had been. That doesn’t happen often. The understated service is lovely as well, and the breakfast, lounge, baths, and sauna are all amazing—but I won’t praise them too specifically because I don’t want it to get crowded (haha). In any case, I’m grateful to this hotel for adding an appeal to Karuizawa that simply didn’t exist before. Even as I write this, it’s making me want to go again...

I live not too far from Karuizawa. A friend from Tokyo really wanted to spend some quiet, relaxing time in Karuizawa, so we stayed there together. It feels like an Accommodation that combines the best of both a Hotel and a rental villa. The staff may feel politely hands-off at times, but if you ask, they respond with genuine care. Shuttle Service from Karuizawa Station is also available, so if you need it, it’s best to inquire and Reserve in advance. Although it’s close to Kyu-Karuizawa Ginza, you can step just a little way off the main road and escape the crowds. I also saw guests staying solo who spent their time reading throughout their stay. Rather than coming for a typical Hotel experience, you’ll appreciate this place most if you stay here to enjoy your own time. At check-in, we received lounge vouchers worth 1,000 yen per person. We had planned to have dinner at a restaurant outside and didn’t find anything we wanted at the shop. When I asked at the front desk, they suggested having homemade ginger ale in our Room after dinner. You order it at the front desk and bring it back yourself, but it was a great suggestion. If I have friends who want to stay in Karuizawa again, this is a Hotel I would recommend.

We stayed with 4 people and 1 dog. The Room was odor-free, and we barely heard any other dogs, making it very comfortable. It would be nice to have a few more amenities. There was a note about limitations on the bathwater, but it turned out to be fine. Thank you!

Close to the station, with an outlet mall just nearby, so the location is very convenient. Also, since we have children, we signed up for Picchio’s animal tour and insect tour within the Hotel and joined in. The guide explained everything carefully, and we enjoyed it a lot, so I highly recommend it. The Hotel grounds are vast, and shuttle buses run until late between Karuizawa Prince West, Animal, Hot Spring, and the outlet mall, which was very convenient. We woke up early and took a walk around the Hotel grounds. The fresh air was wonderful, and the sun filtering through the trees was truly soothing. The Onsen was great as well, and above all, all of the staff were very kind and pleasant—it really felt like they are well trained. I will definitely stay at this Hotel again.

Mount Myogi rose like a folding screen, and the scenery was spectacular! The Hotel was clean, and the Onsen had great water. Meals were buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner. Unfortunately, it wasn’t food I’d want to eat again... There are many sightseeing spots nearby, so we were able to stop by various places and had a very fulfilling trip.

The hotel was very clean, and above all, the location was excellent. Parking was free, and we could take the car in and out as many times as we liked. Breakfast was carefully prepared, and we enjoyed it both mornings. When staying in Karuizawa again, I would definitely like to return.

You can walk to both Karuizawa Station and Kumoba Pond. It’s a slightly retro Hotel, with no elevator, and the shower and hair dryer are standard. That said, it has a nostalgic charm that I really liked. Meals were served at seats overlooking the garden greenery, and it was comfortable even when dining alone. Of course, the food was delicious. The staff were also very pleasant.

This was my first time staying at Comfort Inn Karuizawa. The staff were very kind, and even with breakfast included, the price was reasonable. Just one thing: the toilet drain pipe may have been dirty or not draining properly, and there was a slight odor in the morning. It didn’t happen on the second day. I’ll be back.

I made a Reservation because this Accommodation was reasonably priced and fairly close for sightseeing in Karuizawa. On arrival, there was welcome coffee from Mikado Coffee, and amenities were provided as well. Please note that pajamas are not provided. The Room was spacious and even had two TVs. I was also happy to find Mikado Coffee drip packs in the Room. A few things stood out: the Room felt a bit dated, I would have preferred newer slippers, and I saw a small ant while taking a bath—so it would be great if there were screens or something similar (it wasn’t so bad that it ruined the stay). That said, the breakfast included was very luxurious and exceeded the price! Since Karuizawa has stylish cafes, I think it would be nice to have a No Meals Included Plan as well. My sister and her husband from the U.S. visited Japan, and we used this accommodation for a one-night trip with our parents. The maisonette had 3 rooms with baths, each spacious, and the first floor featured a kitchen-equipped dining area and a living room with a fireplace, providing ample space even for 7 people. The center lounge offered alcohol-free drinks from morning to evening, which was perfect for those who enjoy non-alcoholic beverages (laughs). The young staff provided excellent service, while the experienced staff offered solid support when needed. We booked quite early at a very reasonable price; although there was an additional fee for early check-in, we opted for it. Please note that lounge access is available only after check-in. One night felt too short—I’d love to stay 2 or 3 nights next time!

We wanted to enjoy restaurants in Karuizawa, so we chose this Accommodation with No Meals Included. The bed was very comfortable, the bathtub was spacious, and the shower had plenty of hot water. For breakfast (8:00–10:00), you can order a hot sandwich and a drink at the café on the first floor—it was very delicious. The owner also shared recommendations for great bakeries and local tips. This is a Hotel we would like to stay at again.

I stayed for one night starting September 28. Since the accommodation offered rental bicycles, I walked from Karuizawa Station to the accommodation (about 10 minutes), left my luggage at the front desk, and rented a bicycle to go out. (The cost was 1,650 yen per day or 2,450 yen for an electric bike as I recall.) Renting a bicycle directly from the hotel made it very convenient as I didn’t have to walk back after returning it. Although the building felt a bit old, the room seemed renovated with new tatami mats and comfortable beds. It was refreshing to see beds placed on tatami mats, allowing me to relax both on the bed and on the tatami floor. I also felt secure placing my luggage directly on the tatami mats. Complimentary bottled water (one per person) and apple snacks were provided in the room. At reception, items like stick coffee packets, facial cleansers, and lotions were available for individual pickup. As there was no private bath in my room, I used the public bathhouse instead. The bathhouse was equipped with shampoo, conditioner, body soap—offered in about three varieties—which were quite sufficient. However, having makeup remover would have been even better. There were only two hair dryers available in total; they lacked power so drying long hair might take some time. A water dispenser was also provided near the bath area which allowed me to rehydrate after bathing—a nice touch. Breakfast included medicinal porridge dishes along with pork miso soup (tonjiru), grilled salmon, and various side dishes—all of which were satisfying! For those who don’t prefer porridge though white rice substitutions are possible upon request; coffee too could be self-served freely during breakfast hours! Overall experience staying here proved pleasant & enjoyable enough that I'd certainly consider returning again someday!
