I stayed for one night in the middle of my itinerary, and this was my favorite Hotel of the entire trip. The bar counter and lobby that come into view right after entering the entrance immediately got me excited. The Room was clean and stylish. The washbasin area was the open type with no partition from the Room, which is common in newer Hotels, but it didn’t cause any inconvenience. If anything, it made the Room feel more spacious than its actual square meter size. Although I didn’t use them, it seems they also offer a thoughtful selection of items for loan, which felt very considerate for guests on a Multiple Night Stay. The sofa and bed were comfortable as well, and I enjoyed having dinner in the Room that evening. The Onsen was also more than spacious enough and included an open-air bath. Maybe my timing was lucky, but there were few other guests, so it was extremely relaxing. Breakfast was buffet-style; even with a pleasant level of bustle, there were many attentive staff members who made it a great experience. In particular, having egg dishes cooked to my preference was fantastic (you order by QR code so there’s no line, and they bring it to you). A couple of small disappointments: - Parking (I assume it will be improved in the future, but there wasn’t any specific guidance; since it’s simply gravel ground at the moment, checking in at night was a bit confusing.) - The reception staff at the breakfast venue (I had planned on No Meals Included originally, but I was so impressed by how wonderful this Hotel is—and seeing available seats—I asked if I could join the breakfast buffet last minute. However, whenever I asked about seating or pricing details, I received guidance that strongly emphasized only negative points. It made me wonder if walk-ins aren’t really welcomed. That said, once inside—especially thanks to the excellent male staff member overseeing service—the experience turned out very positive.) I’m not sure what prices are like during peak winter season, but this is a Hotel I definitely want to stop by again whenever I visit Hokkaido.

On a whim during the Obon holidays, I made a Reservation for one night starting August 15, booking on August 13. I have a shellfish allergy, and since it was such short notice I thought it might be difficult, but they replied right away, “No problem.” The Hotel does feel a bit old, but it is well kept and clean, so my stay was very comfortable. The meals were generous and delicious. Above all, what makes this Hotel special is how kind everyone is. They don’t say unnecessary things, but if you ask something they think it through as if it were their own matter and respond sincerely. It left me feeling warm inside. It really shows that you don’t need a luxury Hotel to have a great stay. I highly recommend staying here at least once.\nI do not recommend climbing the 365 steps of the Ikaho Onsen stone staircase in midsummer—I was drenched in sweat and completely out of breath.

We stayed here as a couple.\n\nWe had been interested in this Accommodation for some time, and after actually staying, it exceeded our expectations. Above all, the milky-white free-flowing Onsen from the source was outstanding, and soaking at a leisurely pace felt truly luxurious. We also enjoyed the private open-air bath together without any worries, which became a wonderful memory.\n\nBoth dinner and breakfast featured carefully prepared dishes that made the most of local ingredients, and we were completely satisfied with both the taste and portion sizes. Everything at both meals was delicious, and we were impressed to enjoy freshly made dishes served piping hot.\n\nThe staff’s hospitality was warm, with thoughtful attention to detail throughout our stay, making it very comfortable. The Room was clean and had a calm atmosphere, allowing us to slowly unwind from everyday fatigue.\n\nThe Onsen, cuisine, and hospitality were all excellent—we were satisfied in every way. This is an Accommodation we would highly recommend to couples looking to enjoy a relaxing Onsen trip.\n\nThank you very much for everything. The Room was a beautifully renovated guest room with an open-air bath, and I was happy to be able to relax and enjoy the Onsen in the Room as well. The staff were very courteous, and we had a comfortable stay. Dinner was delicious, featuring mainly seafood. We also really enjoyed watching the explanation and live demonstration of Oga Peninsula’s specialty stone-grilled dish. Breakfast was a buffet, and everything was tasty—we were completely full. It was a bit of a long trip, but we made wonderful memories. Thank you very much.

I stayed here with my sisters and mother for a family trip. The interior was beautiful and luxurious, exactly as shown in the photos—we were amazed! The sauna and open-air bath were spotless, and we enjoyed them again and again. We had fun making marshmallows, baked apples, and roasted sweet potatoes at the fire pit, then did a BBQ on the indoor grill. There’s a large supermarket nearby with everything you need, so it’s easy to come empty-handed. The beds were incredibly comfortable too. Our first glamping experience was a huge success—we’ll definitely be back!!

It was our first time visiting Oigami Onsen, and the three of us stayed here with my elderly mother. This Accommodation is the only one set on such spacious grounds, and it was obvious at a glance how different it is from the others. Dinner was thoughtfully prepared, and the Joshu beef steak in particular was tender and delicious. The only slight disappointment was that the souvenir shop inside didn’t have much variety, so there wasn’t anything I wanted to buy. I would have appreciated a wider selection of food items. I also became curious about Senkyo’s history and ended up looking it up. Thank you very much for taking care of us.

It was pleasant that everything—from the lobby and hallways to inside the elevator—was covered with tatami mats. Right after check-in, we were welcomed with cold matcha tea, which was a nice touch. Both breakfast and dinner were served in a private room across the hallway. The simmered kinki (rockfish) was especially delicious. The staff were also very attentive. I think it would have been perfect if face towels were provided in the large public bath.

Unfortunately, due to cloudy and rainy weather, we couldn’t see the starry sky, but we’re already thinking about when to come back for another try. There was a warm, homey atmosphere among guests as well—people asked questions and helped each other out. The drink corner was a great idea, but even after trying many times, no ice came out, and there were a few things that were unclear. An elderly guest seemed troubled because the coffee wouldn’t stop dispensing. I think it would be helpful to post easy-to-understand instructions. At mealtimes, the staff serving us were all foreigners, but they were very polite. Their Japanese was quite limited at times so we didn’t always understand what they said, but we could generally guess from the context and had no issues. One thing that stood out compared with other hotels I’ve stayed at: since it’s a quiet Hotel I thought this might be normal here, but I was surprised that none of the staff said “good morning” to guests in the morning. When my husband passed by the front desk he greeted them first; they may not have heard him, but they were chatting among themselves and didn’t greet guests even as people walked right in front of them. In contrast, the foreign staff in the restaurant—even with limited Japanese—did say “good morning.” Also, the Onsen was wonderful, but there is no fan in the changing room. Having one would help guests cool down more easily and might reduce crowding there. The large public bath and open-air bath are very comfortable and warm you up well. The green view from the open-air bath—and in the morning, clouds or mist drifting over the mountains—felt truly unique. The meals were a good portion size and showed creativity within their price range. Dinner offered an enjoyable mix of Japanese- and Western-style dishes with plenty of variety. Breakfast was buffet-style with many options including both Western and Japanese items as well as desserts; everyone seemed to be enjoying it. The highland area is beautiful—it feels like it could even become a villa resort area someday. We also visited Relaxia Forest next to the Hotel (apparently used as a movie filming location). It’s a lovely forest where we could enjoy forest bathing too. There don’t seem to be any other Hotels around this area, so we’d like to stay again.

I stayed with my Chi-poo. The Room was clean, and it was great to have a private open-air bath. It would have been perfect if we could dine in the restaurant together with our dog. The on-site dog run is covered with wood chips, which is a thoughtful, dog-friendly touch. The staff were pleasant, and it was a wonderful Accommodation. At check-out, we also received a discount voucher for our next stay, which makes it easy to return.

This was my first time visiting Zao Onsen. After considering several Onsen Accommodations, I chose a smaller Accommodation where I could truly relax. As I headed from Kaminoyama toward Zao, the temperature dropped, and after riding my motorcycle in the intense heat, the cool breeze felt wonderful. The Accommodation is an older building, but it was filled with many charming decorations that made me feel warm inside. The indoor Onsen was artificial, but it was pleasant and available 24 hours a day. Outside, in a separate building, there was a free-flowing hot spring bath fed directly from the source; it was strongly acidic and at a comfortable temperature, making it very enjoyable. Dinner dishes were all carefully prepared and included many local specialties from Yamagata Prefecture. It was great that each dish came with an explanation when served. The steamed dish in particular was outstanding. Breakfast also offered a wide variety of items, and I was very satisfied. All of the staff were kind and greeted us properly—I could really feel their hospitality. This is an Accommodation I would like to visit again.

It was a truly wonderful Accommodation where we could stay comfortable throughout our visit. Everything was impeccably clean, and from the moment we stepped into the Room, we felt at ease. The meals we had been looking forward to were outstanding in both presentation and taste for both dinner and breakfast, and we enjoyed them very much. The baths were also a highlight—not only the open-air private hot spring bath with its wonderful sense of openness, but also the cypress bath in the Room, where we could stretch out to our heart’s content while surrounded by the soothing scent of wood. Everything about our stay was excellent and became a great memory. We would definitely like to stay again. One last question: the towels smelled so lovely and were very relaxing! If you don’t mind, would it be possible to tell us which fabric softener you use?

We are a couple in our 70s who enjoy driving and hiking. This time, we planned to walk the Goshikinuma hiking course and stayed at Shikisai Ikkiryoku in Bandai-Atami Onsen. With such high Review ratings, we had certain expectations, and it turned out to be a Ryokan that truly satisfied us. The staff’s hospitality and service were genuinely outstanding. From check-in and reception to being escorted to our Room and shown around, they spoke to us at just the right moments, which completely eased any anxiety about staying for the first time. We were also deeply moved when they saw us off at departure. The entire building felt very clean. It is described as a long-established Ryokan with over 100 years of history, but rather than feeling old, it had a dignified atmosphere that we found wonderful. After relaxing in the Onsen, the meals were excellent in both quality and quantity, and we thoroughly enjoyed beer and sake as well. After an early-morning bath, we took a walk around the garden. We also enjoyed viewing the garden from inside while having coffee—both experiences were wonderful. There were many autographed boards from famous guests displayed along the corridors, which was quite enjoyable. It reminded both my wife and me of how hospitality and service used to be at traditional Ryokan—“Yes, this is how it was!” As we celebrate our golden wedding anniversary this year, this became one of our most memorable stays during our travels. It was my first time staying at an all-inclusive Hotel, and I was truly impressed by how outstanding and delicious the food was. The staff were also very helpful and responded quickly to any questions, which I really appreciated. I would like to visit again during the autumn foliage season.

I have stayed here many times. Among the Onsen in Zao, the water quality is excellent, and Tsuruya’s baths suit me perfectly. There are also four types of private baths, so you can relax and enjoy them at your own pace. The food is incredibly delicious—every meat dish is generous in portion size and so tasty that you’ll want to eat it again right away. This time I had the Zao beef steak; it was very tender and wonderful with a variety of flavors such as lemon butter and wasabi. I will definitely visit again. A Multiple Night Stay is also recommended.

As a returning guest, I’m impressed every time by the wonderful meals and the staff’s hospitality. I truly enjoyed the rich, flavorful cuisine, and I deeply appreciate the staff’s thoughtful care. This is an Accommodation I want to visit again and again. Thank you.

The meals were delicious, the rice fields stretched out beautifully and were lush and green, and the view from the Room was truly wonderful. I would love to stay again.

We stayed with an infant and a young child, and had a very comfortable stay. The Room was spacious and comfortable, and every staff member was extremely kind and hospitable, so we felt at ease throughout our stay. The meals were well prepared and thoughtfully presented. Since we have children, we are careful about ingredients and additives, but we were able to enjoy everything with peace of mind right through to the final dessert. It was also convenient that the bus stop for the Komagatake Ropeway Station is right in front of the Accommodation. For families with small children, this Accommodation has it all—the spacious Room, the warm support from the staff, reassuring meals, and a convenient location—making it very easy to stay here. We would definitely like to return.

I stayed for a two-night Multiple Night Stay as a solo traveler at Asanoya in Yumura Onsen. From start to finish, everything was comfortable, and it truly became a wonderful stay. Onsen & Room: The Room was spacious, clean, and very relaxing—I was able to spend the two days as comfortably as if I were at home. The quality of the Onsen water was exceptional; each time I soaked in it, the silky water felt wonderful on my skin and soothed my fatigue from the core. Meals: Above all, I was most impressed by dinner each evening. The dishes made generous use of seasonal local ingredients, and every item reflected careful craftsmanship and attention to detail. The presentation was beautiful and enjoyable to look at as well. Not only were the flavors excellent, but everything—from the choice of tableware to the perfect timing of serving hot dishes while still hot—was outstanding, making each meal a truly blissful experience. They prepared different menus for both nights, so I looked forward to dinner every day. Hospitality: The staff’s thoughtful care and the warm service from the attendant who served my meals were wonderful. Even though I stayed alone, I never once felt lonely—instead, I enjoyed a luxurious yet heartwarming time. This is an Accommodation I would love to visit again in another season. It was the best trip. This was a wonderful Ryokan in every respect—Japan’s oldest bath, the cuisine, the service, and the Onsen. I stayed at Kashotei with in-room dining, and every dish of the carefully prepared kaiseki meal was outstanding. The staff were perfect—always smiling and considerate—and the tour was also educational, helping me learn about the hot-spring cure area and the history of the Accommodation. After enjoying the open-air bath, family bath, and Japan’s oldest bath, my skin and hair felt silky smooth. The lounge is great too. Please do visit.
