A Hotel perched on a sheer cliff. I was a little anxious until I arrived. Considering the rain, wind, and snow in that setting, maintaining the building’s exterior must be very costly, yet the rates are reasonable. The Room furnishings may be old, but they are high quality and well maintained, making it very comfortable. Because of the cliffside location, the view from the Room is outstanding. The in-room bath is spacious and also offers an amazing view. Best of all, you can fully open the sliding window for a wonderful sense of openness—even watching seagulls dive right in front of you. In addition, both dinner and breakfast were excellent French cuisine, and the staff service was attentive; everything left me completely satisfied. Dining while watching the sunset was a special, unforgettable experience. I also think it’s a great system that you can choose souvenirs via the TV’s online service—it lets you take your time deciding during your stay. I could really feel what this Hotel values in its hospitality, and it made for an extremely satisfying trip. In an age when “good” often simply comes with paying more, I was truly delighted with this level of hospitality at this price!

I stayed at Dormy Inn Aomori on a solo trip. I often use a Business Hotel when traveling alone, but this Hotel was far too wonderful to be called just a Business Hotel. First, the breakfast: a buffet with many local dishes—I ended up eating more than I should in the morning. Next, the baths: the water was very pleasant, and there is also an open-air bath and a sauna. I was disappointed to see a foreign parent and child soaking and throwing towels in the tub, but aside from that I could relax at ease. It was also fun to enjoy the complimentary ice cream while looking at the night view after bathing, and the late-night soba service was great as well. With smaller noodles and a light broth, even an elderly woman like me could enjoy it. It’s about a 7-minute walk from Aomori Station. The route is straight so it’s easy not to get lost, and it was convenient that there is an airport bus stop right in front of the Hotel. The male front desk staff were also very kind. Overall I was extremely satisfied except for a faint smell of cigarette smoke in my Room. I will definitely visit again. Thank you very much.

We stayed for two nights. The room was clean, and the staff were very kind. The amenities were well stocked, and I was especially happy to find ReFa items in the bath facilities. We also appreciated receiving amenities for our child sharing the bed with us—it was very helpful and a nice touch.

Thanks to the information you shared by email in advance, we were able to arrive smoothly at Yukaen by shuttle bus on the day. Check-in was explained carefully, and we stayed comfortable throughout. We considered sightseeing on the second day, but since we had fully enjoyed Chuson-ji on the first day, we decided to focus on relaxing in the Onsen instead. We booked a head and hand course at Nagomi-yu for day use, had lunch, and spent a leisurely time. The fried shrimp and minced meat cutlet I ordered for a daytime drink were impressively generous portions and delicious. The lounge pancakes were also great—I finished them in no time. Dinner on the second night featured a different menu from the first, so we enjoyed a fresh atmosphere as well. The guest-focused hospitality was truly pleasant, and my friend and I left saying we'd love to come back again. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

Japanese-style double Room with breakfast and dinner included. I also requested a pick-up from Yamagata Station. On the way back, I took the bus to Yamagata Station from the Zao Onsen Bus Terminal, just a few minutes’ walk away. I arrived early, but was able to leave my luggage and explore freely. The staff member who assisted me felt unexpectedly curt, which seemed different from the Reviews. The person who showed me to my Room also didn’t seem to notice a fairly large dead insect right by the door when it was opened. That was disappointing. I was very satisfied with the Room, meals, and baths. The entire building is covered with tatami mats and you take off your shoes, which feels great, and everything was well maintained. All staff were pleasant in both their service and greetings. Since the baths switch between men and women, you can use both areas; I enjoyed the warm feel of wood and traditional atmosphere. Some Reviews said it was small, but as a woman I didn’t find it cramped since there weren’t too many people using it at once. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious—I finished everything. The Yamagata beef shabu-shabu was truly excellent. There is a portable air conditioner in the Room (I think), but because its duct runs out through the window, the top of the window doesn’t close completely tight; I couldn’t help noticing that gap. I saw a similar setup in the lounge as well, so I assumed it’s installed as a measure against summer heat. There is no elevator—only stairs—which I actually liked very much. Around this time of year we could hear spring cicadas (maybe), which was soothing. From the entrance you can see a gentle slope leading down to the main road, along with steam rising from the Onsen—an impressive location. It’s a small but comfortable Accommodation with a warm atmosphere—thank you very much.

I visited with a friend who loves traveling. This was my third stay, and as always, the food was excellent, and the Onsen was amazing. My friend, visiting for the first time, also enjoyed it and went to the bath twice. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This was our first trip to Hokkaido with three generations of our family. We were more than satisfied with the breathtaking view of Mt. Yotei and the wonderful Room, which was spacious and allowed us to enjoy privacy as well. The staff were friendly and attentive, making our stay very comfortable. Thank you very much.

I stayed here to enjoy hot spring hopping in the Nyuto Onsenkyo area. Although I arrived before check-in, I really appreciated that they kindly lent me a towel for visiting the hot springs. Check-in was smooth, and the room was spacious and very clean, so I was able to relax and spend a comfortable stay. What impressed me most was being able to enjoy two different types of hot spring water—Nyuto Onsen and Tazawako Kogen—in one property. The open-air bath was especially pleasant, and I could fully enjoy soaking in nature, which is exactly what makes Nyuto Onsenkyo special. That said, the open-air bath at night was quite dark, and I felt a little uneasy using it alone. A bit more lighting around the footing and surroundings would make it feel safer. The breakfast and dinner buffets were also excellent. Not only was there a wide selection, but each dish felt carefully prepared, and everything I tried was delicious. It was such a satisfying meal that I wanted to try a little of everything. Nyuto Onsenkyo has many charming ryokan-style inns with their own unique appeal. Among them, Kyukamura stands out for the well-equipped facilities and ease of staying that come with being a relatively large hotel—it felt reassuring throughout my visit. For anyone who wants to enjoy the atmosphere of hidden hot springs and onsen hopping while still spending time comfortably relaxing at the hotel, this is an easy place to recommend.

The dishes made with local Aizu ingredients were truly delicious. Both the large public bath overlooking the river and the in-Room bath were very relaxing.

We stayed at Kinugawa Onsen “Kizuna” from July 31 to August 2, 2026 (2 nights/3 days). We checked in with two adults, one child, and two Chihuahuas. I thought I had made a Reservation for a Room without an open-air bath, but due to what seemed to be a communication issue, we were instead shown to a Room with an open-air bath (a lucky surprise). Having an open-air bath in the Room meant we could enjoy the Onsen anytime, day or night, and our whole family had a truly happy time. For every meal (breakfast and dinner), we were able to dine in a private room (rather than the usual shared dining area). The menu changed each time, so we looked forward to every meal and headed there excitedly. Each dish was refined and absolutely delicious. With drinks as well, we felt completely satisfied after every meal. By chance, the Nikko Fireworks Festival was held on Saturday, August 8, and we were able to enjoy spectacular fireworks from our Room as well (another lucky moment). Above all else, what made our stay so comfortable was the attentive service from the manager and staff members—and their genuine hospitality in accommodating guests’ requests. That level of professionalism seemed to fill the entire Ryokan, allowing guests to relax completely and enjoy an exceptional experience. For three days, we fully enjoyed an extraordinary getaway both physically and mentally. It may sound childish, but it was such a wonderful Ryokan that I didn’t want to leave—I wanted to stay forever. Everyone in our family kept saying “Let’s come again,” so we will definitely return. My heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who took care of us at “Kizuna.” Thank you very much for everything.

Now that our family schedules finally lined up, we stayed at Yunishikawa Honkan again. The open-air bath is the perfect temperature for us, and this wonderful natural hot spring keeps our bodies warm until the next morning when we soak slowly and relax. We also always look forward to the Japanese meals, which are consistently delicious. The many dishes and the local sake tasting are excellent as well. The Onsen egg served with breakfast is outstanding, and this time too we ordered two packs to take home as a souvenir. For us as a parent and child who enjoy mountain stream fishing, this Accommodation is an important place to unwind, so even when it’s not for fishing we’d like to make time to visit again and enjoy the wonderful Onsen. This time we stayed in the Room at the very end of the 5th floor, and it was very comfortable with a toilet and air conditioning. We also enjoy hearing the owner’s stories every time—about hunting bears long ago, catching giant char, and gathering large maitake mushrooms. We are truly grateful to the proprietress emeritus, the proprietress, and all staff for their hospitality. We hope to visit again soon. Thank you in advance when we do.

A two-day stay that felt like stepping into another world The stylish furnishings in each Room and the thoughtful attention to every little detail were exceptional. The birds and insects singing in the garden, the soothing sound of water in the open-air bath, and above all, the chef’s warm personality and outstanding cuisine were truly superb. This is a wonderful auberge I would absolutely love to return to, and one I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone.

I stayed for one night with my sister. The Room was very clean and well maintained, easy to use, and we enjoyed the in-Room bath many times (we even did laundry!). We had our meals at a charming traditional house restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. Everything was delicious, right up to the final sushi! Thanks to the warm hospitality, we were able to relax and enjoy our stay. We also really enjoyed the snacks and gelato provided in the Room. We were blessed with great weather, making it a wonderful trip. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us—we will definitely be back!

Whenever we visit Hokuriku, we always stay at “Notoya.” We always look forward to the warm hospitality from the staff and the delicious meals. This time, we stayed in a Japanese-style Room with a semi-open-air bath fed directly from the hot spring source, and enjoyed an all-sea-bream menu: a boat platter of sea bream, sea bream shabu-shabu, and sea bream ochazuke. The dishes were light and gentle on our bodies as seniors, and we were able to finish everything. The bath in the Room was also at just the right temperature, and we fully enjoyed the luxury of soaking morning and night while feeling the cool breeze. “Notoya” never disappoints no matter when we visit—we would definitely like to stay again next time. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve stayed here. Every time, all the meals are delicious. I usually stay for two nights, and I’m always very satisfied to be able to relax in the Room’s Onsen and enjoy plenty of reading at my leisure. I’ve recommended it to relatives and friends, and they were delighted. I’ll be back again.

I stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, but it was not an Onsen. That was the only disappointing point; everything else was excellent. The two baths in the building were also very nice, and it was especially great to find a jacuzzi in an Onsen, which is rare. Dinner reflected the sensibility of a female head chef, and breakfast being a half-buffet was also a nice touch. Overall, the facilities were kept clean and well maintained.

We stayed as a two-generation family of four. Since my mother has difficulty walking and a barrier-free Room happened to be available, we chose this Room. It was very convenient, on the same floor as the lobby lounge. The Room was furnished as shown in the photos, but some pieces felt a bit in the way for moving around. The toilet door was heavy, and for an in-room toilet it felt oddly like a hospital-style door. There was also a large mirror directly in front of it; the placement wasn’t great because it was on the wall by the toilet and could be seen from the sofa while resting, which I didn’t like. The Room itself is very spacious, which is great. You can step out onto the balcony through the bay window and enjoy fresh forest air, which felt wonderful. The view wasn’t great since we were on the 3rd floor, but in return, the view from the 6th-floor bath area was unbelievably beautiful—something I’d never seen before—and I highly recommend using the baths. The food offered many dishes, and because the lobby area is spacious, getting around during meals was smooth—it really felt like being at a resort. Drink servers were set up so you could get beverages in various areas, and overall service was excellent. We could feel thoughtful service at every moment and truly enjoyed all-inclusive stay. For activities, there seem to be table tennis, karaoke, tennis, etc. Overall, it felt like most guests were Japanese.

This time, I stayed in a Japanese-style Room. The view from the Room was great, and I was able to relax—I was extremely satisfied. I used it for a business trip this time, but next time I’d like to stay here again for a family trip. The bath and sauna were both clean and relaxing, and the breakfast was delicious!

As explained in the bathroom guide, the water seems to have an ideal pH, so it feels smooth on the skin with no resistance, and it’s so pleasant you’ll want to stay in forever. I’ve been to many Onsen, and this may have been the most comfortable of all. The meals were extremely satisfying in both portion size and taste. The Hida beef shabu-shabu was especially tender, sweet, and delicious. The steamed abalone was also tender, and mixing the two sauces made it outstanding. Everything else was equally well prepared and thoughtfully crafted. The staff were highly professional, and their smiles were wonderful. As for services, we enjoyed a welcome drink and one complimentary alcoholic drink after dinner in the lounge, which made for a very relaxing time. Next time, I’d love to stay here with my parents!

This was my first time staying here. I’d been curious for a while, and it was just as I expected—I really liked it. The building may not be brand-new, but perhaps it has been renovated; I had no inconveniences at all. The meals and the bath were both very relaxing. If my schedule allows, I’d like to visit again later this year for about two nights, and I look forward to staying with you again then.
