Although we stayed for only one night, it was a very comfortable Accommodation. The room was thoroughly cleaned, and in addition to the amenities, there was a good selection of tea and mineral water provided, which made our stay very pleasant. (Filling up water at the washbasin can take away from the travel mood a bit.) When we visit Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen again, we would love to stay here again.

We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday. Room, amenities… The Room was wonderful. We were impressed by the futon and the sofa as well—I wish I could have them at home… The amenities were sufficient, but I’d be even happier if they were a bit more upscale. Hospitality, service… Everyone provided very pleasant service. They were also very considerate toward my husband, which made it a memorable celebration. Onsen, baths… It was a great Onsen; I soaked four times. The view from the open-air bath on the upper floor was truly soothing. This time, since the bath in our Room was not an Onsen bath, we didn’t use it. When it rains, I might hesitate a little to use the open-air bath at the large public bath (maybe it’s just me?). Meals… Everything was delicious. The portions were just right. Overall, we were very satisfied. Staying at Takinoya allowed us to spend a wonderful time celebrating his 60th birthday. Next time, I’d like to choose a type of Room with an Onsen bath… But if so, I’d want to stay two nights (lol). I’d love to visit again in a different season. Highly recommended as an adults-only Onsen Accommodation! Thank you very much for everything this time.

This time, I stayed in a Japanese-style Room. The view from the Room was great, and I was able to relax—I was extremely satisfied. I used it for a business trip this time, but next time I’d like to stay here again for a family trip. The bath and sauna were both clean and relaxing, and the breakfast was delicious!

I understand you are now in your 18th generation—when it comes to Onsen Accommodations, nothing compares to a long-established inn. Of course, both the large public bath and the in-Room bath are fed directly from the source with free-flowing spring water. The staff were exceptionally attentive—so much so that we almost felt apologetic for receiving such kindness. Above all, the dining was outstanding, far beyond anything we had imagined. The tableware was also beautiful throughout, including pieces inspired by Rosanjin’s works, making each meal a delight not only for the palate but also for the eyes. The Kaga cuisine was delicately seasoned yet deeply flavorful. Everything was immaculately cleaned, and the view from the window was truly soothing. While preserving the charm of this historic inn, the property has been beautifully renewed with touches of contemporary art woven in seamlessly. Naturally, many Rosanjin works are displayed throughout the building as well, and they were well worth seeing. I also suspect many guests may not notice this—but in the lobby, Rooms, and bathing areas: there are countless chairs everywhere, and most appear to be high-end pieces. I can only imagine how much has been invested overall; especially the chair inside the elevator must be quite expensive. Even details like lighting and clocks have clearly been chosen with great care. We visited with very high expectations for an Onsen Accommodation, yet everything surpassed them by a wide margin—truly impressive. We would love to return again soon.

It was my first time at Shirahone Onsen, and it exceeded everything I had heard. A milky-white, wonderfully silky bath with a proper sulfur scent—my skin felt so smooth afterward. As for the Ryokan, the hospitality was astonishing by today’s standards. They greeted us right at our car upon arrival and even carried our luggage. Every staff member was consistently polite, and if they saw us heading to the baths, they would immediately call the elevator for us. Most surprising of all was the food—everything was delicious. It was my first time trying snow trout sashimi, and I couldn’t believe how good it was. The dishes weren’t just tasty; they were also beautifully presented. The Ryokan’s Shifuku Mochi was also amazing—I bought three boxes as souvenirs. My husband usually doesn’t eat Japanese sweets, but he unusually ate four pieces. When we contacted them out of concern that heavy rain might close the roads, they kindly explained everything in detail as well. Overall, I felt the staff’s level of hospitality was exceptional—it’s easy to see why so many guests return. I’d love to come again next year. Thank you very much!

We couldn’t hear pets from other rooms, and our dog seemed to relax and enjoy the stay. Having a private open-air bath made it easy to use at any time, which was wonderful. The meals were delicious, but since there were many hot pot dishes on a warm day, we felt that a few more chilled options might have been nice—overall, we were very satisfied.

This was my third stay. Every year, I travel from Shiga Prefecture to Tottori to visit family graves, and I stay here. I’m always satisfied with the amount of dinner—it’s very filling. Breakfast was also great. Thank you very much. I’d like to stay again. The only disappointing thing this time was that my room wasn’t on the train-view side like the last two times, so I couldn’t watch the trains from the window. That’s about it—the only negative point.

This was our last trip of the year. We were fully satisfied with this Ryokan in every way—the cuisine, the Onsen, and the kind hospitality of the staff. There was only one small issue, but it was addressed promptly. We would like to continue coming here in the future.

Our family of four stayed for two nights. From check-in onward, the Hotel staff were wonderfully welcoming, and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. What impressed us most was the outstanding hospitality of everyone on the team. Not only the person who assisted us at check-in, but also the staff during meals were consistently courteous and attentive. It never felt like formal or scripted service—just genuine care that made dining as a family truly enjoyable. The Onsen was also fantastic, and we were able to relax and unwind at a leisurely pace. Spending two nights together as a family made for a truly wonderful trip. There are many reasons to choose a Hotel—Facilities, location, and more—but what really makes you want to come back is the warmth of the people who work there. We were all very satisfied. When we visit Karuizawa again, we would love to stay here again. Thank you for such a lovely time.

I was immediately captivated by the rural scenery from the Room. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and we also used the private open-air bath. Every area was spotlessly cleaned, making it very pleasant. The in-Room amenities were thoughtfully prepared, and there was nothing missing—I felt you could arrive empty-handed and still enjoy a comfortable stay. I was especially impressed to find single-use packets of laundry detergent among the amenities; it really showed how considerate this Hotel is.

I visited again for the first time in six years. It was during the hot season in July, but as expected, Unzen Onsen at this higher elevation was about 3–4°C cooler than down below. I enjoyed the wonderful scenery and Onsen for three days as always, and the Japanese-Western fusion meals were truly delicious; even the tableware matched each dish beautifully and added to the experience. I was disappointed that the French toast I loved at breakfast before was no longer available, but that was more than made up for by the satisfying meals focused on locally sourced ingredients. I also appreciated the warm, unpretentious hospitality from all of the staff. It’s such a lovely Hotel that you find yourself planning your next visit on the way home.

We stayed here to celebrate my partner’s birthday and chose a Room with a private open-air Onsen bath. The free-flowing Onsen water was wonderful, and we were able to relax at our own pace. Dinner was cooked over an irori charcoal grill, and the staff grilled everything for us—meat, seafood, and vegetables were all delicious. Breakfast also featured plenty of local ingredients, and we were very satisfied. Everyone at the Accommodation was kind and attentive to every detail. We would love to stay again someday!

This time, we visited Lake Kawaguchi and Hakone for the first time, looking forward to seeing Mt. Fuji as part of my wife’s birthday trip. Although it was too cloudy to see the Mt. Fuji we had hoped for, we stayed at Setsugetsuka Bettei Suiun in Hakone and were able to fully enjoy the area. Our Room was a Standard Fourth, and it was very practical and well maintained with thorough cleaning, so we had a comfortable stay. The Onsen was at just the right temperature for me and left me feeling refreshed from the core, and it was also great to be able to use L’OCCITANE shampoo. For dinner, being able to choose the main dish and rice during the meal felt like a thoughtful service that let us decide based on our appetite. Breakfast offered such an abundant variety that we were so full we couldn’t even eat lunch afterward. The after-bath lounge area, along with complimentary drinks and snacks on each floor, was also a welcome service whenever we felt a little hungry. The staff’s hospitality was polite and easy to understand, which left a strong impression on us as well. After checkout we went to Gora Park, and at that time a parking staff member kindly advised us that taking the mountain railway one stop would allow us to walk downhill from top to bottom more easily—very helpful advice for an older couple like us. We hope to come back soon for our “I want to see Mt. Fuji with my own eyes!” revenge trip, and when we do, we would love to stay with you again.

Free drink bar (including alcohol), plus post-bath ice bars and probiotic drinks, and manga. Amazing! The bath water quality is great, and the rooms are clean. An Onsen stream runs alongside the Hotel and is beautifully illuminated. Dinner was a buffet, and they even had meaty snow crab. I couldn’t help but overeat. A highly recommended Accommodation.

The bath in the Room was great, and the private open-air bath was also wonderful. The meals were served as a course, so we were able to enjoy them while having a nice conversation. Although it can’t be helped that the elevator and other Facilities felt a bit old, everything was well cleaned overall, so we had a very comfortable stay. This Accommodation is a day-use Onsen Facility with lodging, overlooking the satoyama landscape of Okuizumo. Thank you for letting us stay at a very reasonable rate as part of the “Special Room Grand Reopening Commemorative” offer. The Room was clean and comfortable. The refrigerator was well stocked with complimentary drinks such as beer, chu-hi, sake, and tea. There was also a coffee machine with plenty of coffee beans provided—perfect for coffee lovers. The open-air bath is not very open, but it is free-flowing from the source. However, since the source temperature is low at 29°C, it was disappointing that hot water needs to be added. Because it was hot in July, we mostly bathed using the source water as-is. When I returned to the air-conditioned Room I felt chilly at first, but afterward my body warmed up from the core. The large public bath was far from the Special Room, but I still went three times. I noticed a slight chlorine smell, but it was nicely warm. It would be ideal if the in-room bath’s spring water could be heated. For dinner we had the top-tier “Matsu Kaiseki” at a table in the restaurant. At this great price (50,000 yen), we were fully satisfied; however, if it were priced at 70,000–80,000 yen or more for two people, I think more creativity would be needed both in the dining setting and in the meal content. As of writing this Review on IKYU.com , it seems that Special Rooms are not currently being sold there. We were glad to enjoy beautiful satoyama views with no solar panels or anything else in sight from this Accommodation. All staff served us with warm smiles and pleasant hospitality. I also appreciated that most staff were local Japanese rather than foreign workers. We support hardworking Japanese Ryokan like yours. If charging regular rates, we hope you will consider adding one more step of “specialness” worthy of a Special Room. We would love to stay again.

We stayed here with our daughters during summer vacation. Despite the reasonable price, the hospitality was outstanding. Dinner was served in a private room so we could relax, and the large public bath was clean and truly soothing. Breakfast was a buffet, and everything we tried was delicious—such a fun experience. This is an Accommodation that makes you want to come back regularly to unwind.

This summer, I wanted to relax in an Onsen for at least a day, so I stayed at this Accommodation located a little over an hour by train from Nagoya. Perhaps because it sits on slightly higher ground, the mornings and evenings were cooler than in central Nagoya, and I could also enjoy a beautiful night view—making for a wonderful stay. If I had brought insect repellent spray and binoculars, I think I could have relaxed even more on the balcony while enjoying the night view during the evening-to-night hours when mosquitoes are around. Next time I visit in summer, I’ll be sure to bring them. I was also very happy to be able to enjoy alcohol—white wine in my Room and a tasting of local sake with dinner. By the way, there was a slight smell when I first entered the Room (I couldn’t tell what it was), but once I started using the air purifier it didn’t bother me, so it wasn’t an issue. The Room had drinks such as coffee, sencha green tea, and herbal tea, and there was even incense prepared in the alcove—I truly had a great time.

I personally love the Genroku-no-Yu bath, though it may not be to everyone’s taste. The route to the annex can be hard to find, so it’s best to ask the front desk for clear directions first.
