Thank you very much for taking such great care of us during our stay. It was our first trip to Shikoku, and it became a truly memorable journey. The warm welcome at check-in helped us unwind after sightseeing in the heat. We were also very happy with the drink service in the lobby. The Onsen was clean and very relaxing. The meals were delicious, and we strongly felt we want to come back just to eat them again—especially the dashi broth (shabu-shabu), which was outstanding! The Room was a good size, but we did notice an unpleasant smell in it. We couldn’t tell what it was—perhaps alcohol or something from the Facility—which was disappointing. Thank you for your heartfelt service. There’s no doubt many more guests will continue to visit Shikishimakan—it's a wonderful Accommodation!

I was looking for an Accommodation about an hour’s drive from Hakata where I could enjoy both a sauna and great food, and that’s how I found this place. It seems this long-established Ryokan has been renovated into a Ryokan with saunas in every room. I loved the Japanese-modern style. There aren’t many shared spaces, so it’s perfect for a relaxing stay-in retreat. The staff were incredibly kind. It has the warm, charming atmosphere unique to a Ryokan—different from the service at foreign-owned hotels. The meals reflected the local character of Kyushu and Oita while also trying new ideas, and everything was delicious. Dinner was wonderful, of course, and having hitsumabushi for breakfast was a first for me—such a refreshing experience. One of the condiments was yuzu kosho with grated daikon. That was also a lovely new way to enjoy it. And of course, it was domestically produced eel! The sauna let us adjust the temperature, connect via Bluetooth, and the relaxation space was very comfortable as well. Since this is a Ryokan that really lends itself to staying in, I would have appreciated slightly later check-in and check-out times. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this Ryokan. Thank you!

We stayed with our family of three and one Chihuahua. The facility was very clean, and the room's kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed, which was impressive. The public bath and open-air Onsen were small but very clean with great water quality. We were able to relax and enjoy the Onsen peacefully. We were extremely satisfied with the facility, and even our daughter said she wants to visit again. If I may suggest, it would be helpful to have more information about dog-friendly shops or facilities around the hotel or in the Yamanaka Onsen area. It was hard to find such information online for this area... But overall, we had a wonderful time! We definitely want to stay again. Thank you so much!

Thank you very much for your truly attentive support from the time of our Reservation. I had wanted to stay here ever since the Hotel opened at the Toy Museum, and not only could we enjoy playing a lot at the Toy Museum, but the Room was also excellent (spacious, with a tatami area, and separate bath and toilet). We also received complimentary tickets for Kin-sen and Gin-sen, and in the Arima Onsen area, it felt like an unbelievable value for this price. I would definitely like to stay again.

Our family of three, including our second-grade daughter, stayed here after a day at the beach. We really appreciated being able to use the washing machine and drying area. There’s a convenience store nearby, and Sunset Beach is just a short walk away—it was truly beautiful and moving. Kamo Aquarium is also close by, and it’s about a 40-minute drive to Dewa Sanzan, making the location very convenient. We were very satisfied with the meals as well, and would love to stay again.

I visited this auberge for the first time on a two-person trip with my daughter—I'm a serious Onsen lover, and she’s happy to come along as long as there’s great food. We were excited from the start. Since we’re the “stay-in and relax” type who don’t need sightseeing, this was the best Accommodation that met all my requirements, including an all-inclusive plan. The Room options by type matched our request perfectly, and I felt soothed in a space with a style I love. The food was, of course, outstanding—everything tasted new to me, and I was truly impressed! It exceeded my expectations so much that I was far too full to enjoy much of the after-dinner drinks in the lounge or the snacks and sweets, and I didn’t even make it to the cup noodles. I was also amazed by how many kinds of complimentary drinks were available, and there was plenty of beer and water stocked in the Room refrigerator as well. The amenities felt very luxurious. They were such good quality that there’s no need to bring your own. Because it was just us at breakfast, we were able to chat with one of the female staff members (I wish I had asked her name) and enjoy a wonderful time right up until close to checkout. They even had bread from my favorite bakery prepared for us—I was so happy. It’s a shame I can’t write about the Onsen experience, but instead we were able to enjoy another Onsen nearby, which I’ll take as good luck—and it also gave us a reason (and a promise) to come back for sure. I also feel sorry that you showed us such considerate care—it almost felt like too much. I’m grateful to have found an Accommodation in Yunogo that we’ll definitely return to. I recommend it for important anniversaries, and it has also become a special place as a reward for myself. Two wonderful staff members and an incredibly talented chef. A room with extraordinary spaciousness, high ceilings, and a private atmosphere as it is detached. The staff's hospitality was excellent, making it a facility I would recommend even to my most critical friends.

Just steps away from Yunotsubo Kaido, yet offering a serene view of rice fields and Mount Yufu in the back, this accommodation provides a truly relaxing experience. The private onsen in the room is accessible anytime, ensuring a quiet and uninterrupted stay. Equipped with essentials like a microwave, plates, bottle opener, and chopsticks, everything you need is readily available. Considering the location and having an onsen in the room at Yufuin, this accommodation offers exceptional value.

I’d long wanted to visit Bessho Onsen. It had great Reviews on Google Maps, and when I searched IKYU.com for “solo travel” and “Western-style room,” I chose Midoriya—Done! I was a little concerned about the cutting-edge, tech-driven operation, but that worry was unfounded: the smartphone-based process was very smooth. It also made me feel this is something I should get used to—and that it may well become a new standard. This time I booked a breakfast-only Plan for a Multiple Night Stay, and during my stay I used three private Onsen baths a total of six times. What I loved was being able to experience different types of water depending on the bath and the day—clear, slightly greenish, milky white, or with soft yunohana drifting in the water. Each bath has both an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and I thoroughly enjoyed historic Bessho Onsen with its skin-beautifying qualities, gentle feel, and subtle sulfur scent. During my stay, I saw all kinds of guests—a mom with her baby along with her own mother, a young European couple, and solo female international travelers—and it was clear everyone was enjoying their time in their own way.

We stayed in the detached Accommodation. When we called in advance to confirm, we were told it would be possible to add one more set of futons in addition to the 7 people on our online Reservation, so we stayed with 8 guests. Even with 8 people, it was spacious enough, and we had a very comfortable stay. There were notes indicating areas that still use items from the former Ito Ryokan, and there were small decorative touches on the walls like kumiko-style woodwork—overall, the interior was more stylish and beautiful than we expected. It’s only a short walk to the main building, but there is also a Shuttle Service, which we really appreciated. The meals were delicious, and drink orders and other requests were handled promptly and efficiently, which left a great impression. The large public bath and open-air bath in the main building were both wonderful on both the first and second floors—each had its own charm—and we enjoyed using both at night and again in the morning. After letting them know in advance that we would be traveling with an infant, they prepared a diaper trash bin and baby soap in our Room. Our three-generation family had a truly pleasant stay. This Accommodation was even more wonderful than I had imagined from the website. The furniture choices and layout were excellent. There were plenty of amenities, towels, and tableware provided, so we were able to stay very comfortably. The free-flowing natural hot spring bath was also incredibly relaxing. Since the tub is large and holds a lot of water, adjusting the temperature was a bit difficult—that would be my only minor drawback. During our stay there was a minor issue with the building, but I believe it was handled appropriately in the end. When I visit Hakodate again, I would love to stay here again.

The owner was very kind and took great care of me. I visited solo on a motorcycle, and they even prepared a garage for me, so I could park safely with peace of mind. The interior is a typical traditional guesthouse, but it is well maintained and feels very comfortable. And the meals were truly delicious, full of local ingredients—especially the tempura made with Japanese pepper leaves (sansho). It was my first time trying it, and it was amazing! I was completely satisfied with both dinner and breakfast. As for bathing, there are many public baths nearby, which is very convenient. They also kindly lent me shampoo and soap—too kind! I was so satisfied that the value for money almost made me worry. Highly recommended!

I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay of two nights with breakfast included. Sometimes you get the same meals when staying multiple nights, but I was happy that the menu changed. There were many dishes and the portions were satisfying. The tableware was also lovely. The Ryokan has been renovated and both the exterior and interior are very clean. However, because the structure is an older wooden building, outside noise carries easily. More than voices, you can hear footsteps quite clearly. I stayed in a Room on the 2nd floor, and on the first night I could hear footsteps from upstairs until around 1:00 a.m., which was stressful. If you are sensitive to noise, it may be better to request a Room on the 3rd floor. When it rained, umbrellas and rain shoes were prepared at the entrance, so my feet didn’t get wet. Many people were walking outside in geta in the rain, but I was impressed by the rain-shoe service. The coffee, black tea, tea, and electrolyzed water service was also great. It felt like there were many younger staff members, but everyone was pleasant and helpful—and their English was fluent as well. It was a wonderful Ryokan where you can really feel attention to detail in everything from tableware and interior design to furniture and services. I would definitely like to stay again.

We chose this Accommodation for our first stay after our baby was born. Since our baby is not yet three months old, we were concerned about crying, so we stayed in a private rental-style Accommodation. It was almost too spacious for just the two of us. We were able to relax without worrying about those around us. We also enjoyed playing table tennis for the first time in a while, and the meal portions were so generous we couldn’t finish everything. Everything was very delicious. Dinner required some cooking, which felt a bit challenging with a small child, but it was great that there were no time restrictions and we could eat whenever we wanted. There was also a sauna. The staff kindly brought welcome drinks and breakfast to our Room out of consideration for us. You can tell they are very particular about their food—it was excellent. Above all, the staff were wonderful, showing great care throughout our stay and even seeing us off until our car disappeared from view when we left. It was a lovely stay experience, and next time we’d like to come back with a larger group.

This was my first visit. From the courteous phone call before our stay, to the warm welcome on arrival, the quiet and spotless Room where we could truly relax, the many dishes filled with nothing but delicious flavors, and the Onsen at just the right temperature that made us want to soak forever… It was truly a blissful time. Even if you’d like to go but aren’t sure about chicken tataki, they will change it in advance by phone to other Oita specialties such as toriten (chicken tempura). It’s a wonderful Accommodation where you can fully feel the warmth of the owner and staff while they maintain a comfortable sense of distance, so I highly recommend staying here if you want to unwind. Since we live far away it’s not easy to visit often, but whenever we travel to Kyushu we will definitely stop by again. Thank you very much for your wonderful hospitality.

For first-time visitors to Kusatsu, the Onsen may feel quite hot, so this thoughtful consideration from the owner is appreciated. ■Facility Clean overall, and it’s nice that a Lawson convenience store is nearby. ■Dining The meals were not very satisfying for me. The aromas were strong, and I couldn’t fully appreciate the natural flavors of the ingredients. What lowered my rating most was that the wine pairing was very disappointing. I think it would be better to offer around three glasses with wines priced at about 2,000 yen per glass. I felt a significant mismatch between the atmosphere of the Accommodation and the taste of the wine. ■Overall Satisfaction If you decide to dine at other places instead, this is an Accommodation with a high level of satisfaction. Above all, it feels exceptionally clean.

Booked a great-value room at the last minute. There is an Onsen, free tea in the lobby, and all the staff were very helpful. They also introduced us to the stone-paved streets of Ochiai, which made our trip very fulfilling. Thank you.

The pleasantly warm bathwater was wonderful, and I could soak slowly for a long time. The Room was spacious and very well cleaned, so I had a comfortable stay. There is a convenience store right next door, which is very convenient. While Kumamoto City was over 30°C, Aso was cool and we didn’t need air conditioning in the mornings or evenings. I really enjoyed a relaxing hot-spring retreat. If I could ask for just one thing, it would be great if the Room lighting had a remote control.

We stayed this time with our dog. Both the property and the Room were very clean, and we also appreciated that it was a pet-friendly, fully flat Room. We were happy that free drinks, snacks, and bread were available in the lounge as well. The private open-air bath was spacious enough too! Just one thing: we thought meals would be served in the Room, but they were served in a private dining room. We happened to bring a pet cart, so our dog had a place to wait, but if we hadn’t brought one, there wouldn’t have been space for our dogs to wait during the meal, so we thought it would be nice if you offered cart rentals. Overall, it was a wonderful Accommodation to stay at with our dog!
