Okutama no Kaze Hatonosu-so

We had been looking forward to staying at this Accommodation for a long time.As reputed, everything was spotless, and we were very satisfied with the Room—it was a bit more spacious and had a layout different from a typical twin.The ceiling height on each floor also felt relatively high, giving it an airy feel. We were able to enjoy the bath privately and relax.Both yukata and samue were provided, and we chose the samue. It worked well as sleepwear.The meals were just right for us since we can’t eat large portions, and everything was delicious.The location was also very convenient, and we would definitely like to stay again.Thank you very much.

I stayed for one night on a weekday in July by myself. The view from the Room’s balcony is outstanding. While I was in the Room, I spent almost all my time on the balcony except when sleeping. Watching the forest right in front of me and listening to the rushing sound of the Tama River flowing below helped me forget past unpleasant things and worries about the future, leaving my mind completely clear. Even after it got pitch-dark at night, I kept zoning out on the balcony until just before going to bed. Thanks to that, I felt truly refreshed and centered. The Room was spotless everywhere, and I was impressed that paper towels were provided both at the sink area and in the toilet. All meals were delicious, and for me (a woman in my 50s) the portions were more than enough—I was completely full at both dinner and breakfast. Since I like to eat breakfast early and then relax afterward, I appreciated being able to choose a 7:30 a.m. breakfast time, as well as the late 11:00 a.m. checkout. (Honestly, I wanted to stay longer—on that balcony.) I had seen a Review saying the large public bath is small, so I wasn’t sure whether to use it, but when I went before dinner there was no one else there and it felt like a private bath; both the indoor bath and open-air bath were very comfortable. That said, it did seem like a size where you might feel mindful of others if it’s crowded—so it probably depends on timing. There are many Accommodations across The whole country with great views from their Rooms, but what makes this place exceptional is how easy it is to reach: from my home in Tokyo without using bullet trains or limited express trains—and even without a car or taking buses or taxis—I could get there by local trains only for about ¥2,500 round trip. So I definitely want to return again—next time in a cooler season.
