The antique-inspired lobby interior was beautiful. The Room was also comfortable. Meals were served in a private dining room, and since it was next door, it was convenient. The food was delicious and at the standard level for this type of Ryokan. The Onsen is not large, but it wasn’t crowded, so I could relax and enjoy it.

For a Japanese accommodation these days, I was surprised not to see many international guests. The Accommodation was clean, and the meals were good with everything we needed. The Onsen was also nice, but I felt it might have been a bit small for female guests.

True to its name as an Accommodation with Onsen, the hot springs left our skin silky smooth and helped us feel refreshed. The hospitality was also attentive, and thank you for making our stay so comfortable.

Set in the historic Onsen town of Asama Onsen, this was an Accommodation that lets you enjoy not just “staying at an Accommodation,” but truly “staying in the town.” The map we received at check-in was wonderful, and with it in hand we used the Accommodation as our base to stroll around the Onsen town. Rather than everything being contained within the Accommodation, thoughtful touches make the entire town part of the journey—and even Asama Onsen’s gentle atmosphere became a cherished memory. The interior is refined yet relaxed, creating a comfortable space where you can unwind without pretense. The 24-hour book space is full of clever details that make even non-readers want to pick up a book. Our child was absorbed in the ball pit, and it felt like a place where both adults and children could enjoy their own time. The open-air bath in our room was excellent, but one of this Accommodation’s unique pleasures was taking a bucket and heading out to the public bath “Koyanagi-no-Yu.” The Onsen water is soft on the skin and warms you through to your core long after your soak—so soothing you’ll want to return again and again. Dinner was an immersive experience: watching the chef finish each dish right in front of us at the open kitchen while expertly working over a wood fire. The fragrant smokiness brought out each ingredient’s natural appeal, and every plate reflected careful craftsmanship. Centered on local ingredients, the cuisine isn’t about competing for extravagance—it values savoring this land’s climate and seasons with all five senses. It stayed with us as an experience you can only have here. The curated shop inside was also appealing. It carried Okubo Brewery seasonings used at dinner as well as Jiyujin original items, making souvenir shopping fun. We were happy to buy some granola we had at breakfast so we could relive a bit of our trip back home. The staff were warm and genuine; rather than excessive service, their unobtrusive support—being there exactly when needed—felt especially comfortable. More than for those seeking flashy luxury typical of an Onsen Ryokan, this is an Accommodation I’d recommend to anyone who wants “true richness” and who wants to enjoy staying itself while connecting with local culture. Above all, true to an Accommodation created by Jiyujin, we could feel throughout our stay their commitment not just to this single place but to carrying Asama Onsen as a whole into the future. Visiting with that context makes time spent here feel even more special. It’s an Accommodation that made us want to return in another season—to meet a different face of this town.

The food was delicious no matter what we tried, and the tableware was stylish as well. The portions were just right, and it was thoughtful that there were additional menu options. The evening mini concert was interactive and fun. The Room and bath were thoroughly cleaned, making our stay very comfortable.

Stayed for two nights and three days. The welcome drink was a nice touch. The Room is old but clean, and we were able to relax comfortably. We were satisfied with the meals on both the first and second days; personally, we preferred the second day’s meal. The breakfast buffet was also quite good. The baths were excellent—both the washing area and the tub were spacious. The open-air bath was at just the right temperature, so you could stay in for ages. We especially appreciated the luggage service: if you leave your bags at an affiliated Hotel near the station, they deliver them to this Hotel, and on departure they send them back to the affiliated Hotel, making sightseeing much easier without heavy luggage.

Arrived tired... The natural Onsen bath was wonderful! The staff's courteous service was very helpful. I also enjoyed the soba noodles for breakfast.

We gathered from various places to celebrate our elderly parent's birthday and stayed for one night. First, we relaxed together in the private bath while watching the clouds drift by. The specially prepared sparkling water was a delightful touch. The Onsen made us quite hungry, so we chose a small portion gourmet plan considering my mother, but it left us all fully satisfied. We were touched by the thoughtful celebration gesture from the accommodation, and the mulberry jam we purchased at the shop on our way home was delicious as well. During our stay, whether it was walking freely on the spacious tatami or feeling the warmth of the staff, there was always a cozy and pleasant atmosphere. Thank you very much!

This was my second stay, and once again I was reminded what a truly wonderful property this is. All the staff are always smiling, quick to help, and courteous, making my stay comfortable again this time. The Onsen was exceptional—not only the quality of the water, but also the spotless interior and beautiful views made it a perfect time to unwind. And as a Dormy Inn fan, I thoroughly enjoyed the post-bath ice pops and probiotic drink at the relaxation area, as well as the famous “Yonaki Soba,” all just as delicious as ever. Whenever I stay in Matsumoto, I will definitely choose this place again!

The Accommodation itself is old, but the housekeeping staff here are truly excellent. The windows are spotless right down to the frames, and even the balcony—where dust can easily build up—is sparkling clean from corner to corner. It has also been renovated, so there’s none of that musty smell typical of older Accommodations. The Onsen isn’t large, but it’s clean and very pleasant as well—I enjoyed it so much that I used it twice, once at night and once in the morning. The front desk staff are courteous too, and this is an Accommodation I can confidently recommend.

We stayed over a three-day weekend and were very satisfied with both the Facility and the service. It turned into a last-minute trip and we made our Reservation on the day of our stay, but this Ryokan was more comfortable than the Accommodation Fee would suggest. Meals: Breakfast featured a wide variety of dishes made with local ingredients. Everything was delicious. Room: The Room was clean and spacious enough for two people. Being able to replace the hand towels was a small touch, but I really appreciated it. Baths: We bathed twice, morning and evening. We were grateful that we could Reserve a private bath by phone before check-in. Every bath was very clean; none were particularly large, but they felt calm and relaxing. Because the shower water was also Onsen water, the water pressure was weak, but it didn’t bother me much. Inside the Accommodation: Every staff member greeted us with a smile whenever we passed by. We also enjoyed how much there was to see—there’s a pond inside, as well as a beautifully maintained courtyard with an ashiyu (footbath). Since I don’t often buy souvenirs at a Ryokan, I’m glad I could purchase cider made at the on-site winery.

It is not a luxury Hotel, but the Room interior and carpets were clean, there was hardly any noise, and we were able to relax as a couple. Asama Onsen may be small, but we enjoyed it at a comfortable water temperature and could take our time. The staff were also kind and left us with a very positive impression.

At the time of our same-day Reservation, I realized we were short by one guest and called in a panic, but they kindly accommodated us. When I asked the front desk for extra yukata and other items, they also responded promptly and courteously. The Room and Facility had a traditional, old-fashioned feel, but everything was well cleaned and well maintained. The friendly Shuttle Service driver and the receptionist were approachable, creating a warm atmosphere that felt comfortable and relaxing. The women’s indoor bath was too hot for me, but the open-air bath was just right. The air conditioning in the Room worked very well, making our stay comfortable.

This was my second stay since 2018. As always, every dish at dinner was delicious, and I was very satisfied. The hospitality was also wonderful, and I truly appreciated the advice for visiting Matsumoto Castle the next day. Thanks to your guidance, we were able to sightsee smoothly without feeling the heat too much. If I have the opportunity again, I would love to stay with you in a different season. We stayed here as a couple on a trip to Matsumoto. We made a Reservation at this Hotel because we were looking for a guest Room near Matsumoto Castle with an open-air bath and private dining. It was close to the castle, and we arrived without getting lost. Both the building and the Room were very well cleaned and felt spotless. The view from the Room was also great. We enjoyed our meal in a private room, and everything was delicious. We chose the dining Plan for guests aged 50 and over, and the portion size was just right. Since there aren’t many shops nearby, we bought drinks from the vending machine inside, but there was only one machine, so the selection was limited. Overall: 5 stars. I usually buy towels with the Hotel name when I stay somewhere, but I forgot this time—so when we visit Matsumoto again, we’ll be happy to stay here again.

I was looking for Accommodation in Matsumoto City for sightseeing in the Kamikochi and Takayama areas, and although it was a bit far from the city center, I chose the Itoen Hotel. I selected it based on everyone’s Reviews. The dinner was plentiful and delicious, and the all-you-can-drink option was included. The Itoen Hotel offers outstanding value for money—I’ll continue to support you.

It was a Japanese-style Room. It was larger than expected, which made us happy. We had a lot of luggage for the kids, so the spacious Room was very helpful. Everyone was very kind, and the service was polite and excellent. Breakfast was delicious as well. The staff spoke kindly to the kids there too, and they were delighted. Thank you very much.

We stayed here for a family trip. We made a Reservation for two Rooms for four people, and they kindly arranged adjacent Rooms for us. The large public bath was very pleasant, and we were fully satisfied with our meal at the on-site HAKKO. Since we stayed here to leave early in the morning for Kamikochi, we couldn’t have breakfast. It would have been nice to have a Plan without breakfast or a light meal option for early departures. Thank you very much.

The Asama Onsen district spreads across the eastern part of Matsumoto City, climbing up the foothill slope. The Accommodation is built on the hillside, and the road in front of the entrance is only one lane wide. After leaving your luggage at the Accommodation, you move to the parking area via a narrow alley-like passage about 2 meters wide. If you have a larger car, it seems better to enter from another wider road, park there first, and then carry your luggage. This is an old Accommodation; the furniture and fittings are also old but of good quality, carefully maintained, and immaculately cleaned. The hospitality feels heartfelt; while some younger staff may seem a little awkward, they are poised and dignified. You can sense the refined quality of a prestigious Accommodation. The Room—created by combining two rooms into one—has well-chosen furniture and furnishings. It is calming and comfortable. In the in-room bath, hot natural spring water flows directly from the source; unless you truly love very hot baths, you will want to add cold water to adjust it. For smaller guests, it is deep enough to soak up to your shoulders and long enough to stretch out your legs. Opening the large window facing the garden lets in wonderfully refreshing air. The large public bath and private bath are spacious with a comfortable temperature. The lockers are solid as well. A table adapted from a lacquered low dining table is paired with chairs that are easy to sit on. The dishes brought to your Room one after another at just the right timing are genuine gourmet cuisine—anticipation and satisfaction continue throughout. Allergy accommodations and requests regarding disliked ingredients were handled perfectly. Interestingly—and elegantly—the menu does not list the head chef’s name. There is a separate bedroom with very comfortable beds. It is quiet.
