My family and I stayed here the day before our Kamikochi sightseeing trip. The young proprietress was very friendly and easy to talk to, and her unpretentious, thoughtful hospitality was truly comfortable. The open-air bath in our Room felt amazing—I could have stayed in it forever. Dinner featuring Hida beef had so many dishes that we wondered if we could finish them all, but everything was delicious and we all ate every last bite. The beef tataki we received as a gift from the Accommodation was also outstanding! They also kindly helped us plan for the next day’s Kamikochi sightseeing, making our stay completely satisfying. We would definitely like to stay here again on our next trip to Kamikochi!

Although the weather was fine down below, up in the mountains it was foggy and rainy, so unfortunately even after taking the ropeway it was a completely white world. The open-air bath at the mountain Hotel was great. I was especially lucky to see Mt. Yari appear above the clouds from the mixed-gender open-air bath where you wear a bathing garment. Next time, I plan to come in October to observe the starry sky.

This Accommodation never disappoints, no matter how many times we stay. The open-air baths include two types—a barrel bath and a rock bath—and can also be reserved for private family use. The meals are excellent, especially the beef tongue stew. The amenities also seem to get upgraded every time we visit. This time, because of the rain, we couldn’t have breakfast outside, but the outdoor breakfast is wonderful as well. It was also great that we were able to book a little cheaper through Yahoo Travel. We’d love to stay again.

I found this Accommodation while looking for a nearby place to stay on our way to Kamikochi. It’s a wonderful Accommodation in a quiet mountain village, and everything—the atmosphere, the meals, and the Onsen—was extremely satisfying. We visited with children, and I really appreciate their thoughtfulness, such as preparing the largest Room for us. Although it was near the end of the season, we were able to join the free firefly viewing event and saw about 10 fireflies—it was truly moving!! The Hida beef in the meal was tender, sweet, and absolutely delicious! The Onsen includes both simple spring water and mildly alkaline water; neither has a strong scent or feel, so it’s very refreshing. Some people might find it just slightly hot. The Room was spacious and relaxing, and even in late July it was cool at night—we could turn off the air conditioner, open the windows, and sleep comfortably. We will definitely be back!! *The only thing I noticed: I’m not sure whether it’s due to prefectural policy or the Accommodation’s policy, but there were many foreign staff members (Southeast Asian) working in the dining area. They were friendly and very kind so it didn’t bother us at all, but some guests may feel differently. If you’re concerned, you may want to contact them in advance.*

This is the best Accommodation in the Okuhida Onsen area. The value for money is outstanding. We really enjoyed the open-air bath in the Room, the private open-air bath, and the lounge area after bathing. This was our second stay.

I’ve visited Okuhida several times, and among them this Accommodation stands out for its especially delicious cuisine. There are four private Onsen baths, which is wonderful because you can relax without worrying about others. Being able to choose a bath depending on your mood is a real treat for Onsen lovers. The meals always have thoughtful touches, and once again everything was delicious. The only thing to note is the charcoal-grilled Hida beef: depending on how you grill it, it can produce quite a bit of smoke, so a little care is needed. If you’re not careful, the Room can quickly fill with smoke—but that also makes it a memorable dish in its own way. Aside from that, every dish shows creativity in both presentation and flavor, and I enjoy my stay every time I visit. Before I know it, I end up coming back almost every summer. When I want to unwind while enjoying an Onsen and great food, this is the Accommodation I always choose.

I stayed with my husband and 4-year-old son as a family of three in August. The exterior feels a bit old, but the room and the hotel were clean, and the food, service, and onsen were excellent. We had a very comfortable stay with our son. This is definitely a hotel we want to stay at again!

First of all, thank you to the front desk staff for your courteous service from check-in onward. I carefully checked the weather forecast and decided there would be no snowfall, then hurriedly planned a trip to my beloved Hida Takayama and Okuhida. After leisurely enjoying the old town streets, I headed to the Accommodation and arrived around dusk—only to see white flakes falling from the sky. In the end, it worked out perfectly. The early-morning Onsen was a stunning open-air bath with snow viewing and a softly lit winter landscape. With no wind, I was able to enjoy a quiet moment all to myself and Clear away my daily fatigue and stress. The indoor bath also had a lovely interior and atmosphere, was beautifully cleaned, and I enjoyed a full hour—completely satisfied. The Yakult drink service in the post-bath lounge was another thoughtful touch; I ended up having three. Breakfast afterward was outstanding for someone who loves Japanese food—I had three large bowls of rice first thing in the morning. Hoba miso, “tsukemono steak,” kombu rolls, simmered ganmodoki, steamed vegetables, miso soup with fried tofu… And as if that weren’t enough, I even finished off some special curry rice. Now I’m slightly nervous about my next regular checkup with my hemoglobin A1c likely going up… On the way home I did some light exercise by strolling around Takayama again: Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, the Takayama Festival Float Exhibition Hall, Hiroshige’s baumkuchen shop, a cat café, and more. This is an Accommodation I’d like to visit again anytime in any season—and one I truly hope to stay at again. Next time I’d love to try dinner as well. When I noticed the interior (tatami flooring?), it felt familiar—then I realized it’s part of the same group as Hida Hanazato no Yu Takayama Ouan. Once again, it struck me as a wonderful concept: clean and beautifully Japanese in style. Thank you very much.

This was my first stay, and I was completely satisfied with the Accommodation. The meals, Onsen, and service were all excellent. Although the price is a bit high, it was well worth it. I was also able to relax and unwind in the open-air bath, which was almost like having it to myself.

Stayed for a family birthday trip. The accommodation had a charming, retro atmosphere that felt like stepping back into the Showa era. There were various rest areas throughout the accommodation, perfect for relaxing with a book or simply unwinding. The retro-style chairs were very comfortable, and even the scent carried an old-fashioned charm reminiscent of the past. Some rooms were located quite far from the bath area, making it feel like navigating a maze at times. In winter, the hallways seemed like they could get very cold. A few minutes' walk from the accommodation was an exclusive bathing area for guests featuring five private semi-open-air baths and one non-private semi-open-air bath. It might be challenging to visit in bad weather, but we went both in the evening and morning to enjoy 100% natural hot spring water that kept our bodies warm—truly excellent Onsen water! However, some parts of the bathtubs and floors had sharp textures due to mineral deposits from the Onsen water, so caution was needed (laughs). The large open-air baths offered three temperature options: cold-feeling lukewarm, very lukewarm, and very hot—but unfortunately none at just-right temperatures. Dinner by an irori hearth was delicious; however, it could get smoky so clothing care is advised. All staff members were warm and provided excellent hospitality throughout our stay!

We stayed here the night before our hike. We thought it might be a bit of a splurge, but the Shuttle Service, luxurious meals, open-air bath, and fluffy bedding made for a wonderful night’s sleep. We were able to set off comfortably and were very satisfied. However, since there were six of us, it was inconvenient to make the Reservation in three separate bookings.

This is a truly wonderful Accommodation. It is decorated with many artistic handmade pieces that blend seamlessly with the furnishings, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The four indoor baths are set up so you can tell whether each one is “Available” or “In Use,” and they were never all occupied, so we could bathe freely. Two baths are sized for 1–2 people, and the other two are a bit larger with great views. The water feels fantastic. There is also an outdoor bath that you lock from the outside before entering. This open-air bath is simply excellent. You can spend unhurried time surrounded by nature, with plenty of mineral deposits in the water as well. The short walk to get there is lovely too, and various wildflowers welcome you along the way. The owner was very kind, and the hand-dripped coffee was delicious. It’s an Accommodation that makes you want to come back (and feels like coming home).

We stayed here because each Room has a free-flowing Onsen bath. Our Room was a Standard Twin, but it was spacious enough for the two of us to relax comfortably. The bathtub was also large enough for two, so we were able to fully enjoy the Onsen. Dinner was an additional charge, but we enjoyed very delicious Hida beef. Some staff spoke only basic Japanese, but there were no issues with the service and it felt refreshingly different. We would like to stay again.

I love Onsen Ryokan and stay at Onsen Accommodation around the country, and this one was an especially great find. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, the atmosphere lifted my spirits, and every dish was delicious and felt carefully prepared. The staff were also very friendly and created a comfortable, welcoming space. A private bath isn’t essential, but I’d love to use it if available—so I hope it can be repaired.

We stayed as a family of three and were very satisfied with the sophisticated soba-based creative cuisine and excellent service. The facility is simple, making the price reasonable, and it was impeccably clean. This is an accommodation we would love to visit again and again.

Hirayu Onsen has milky-white, iron-rich waters. After a day of hiking, it warmed us up wonderfully. The open-air bath was especially nice. The meals focused on local specialties, and we were able to enjoy a full range of Gifu delicacies such as Hida beef shabu-shabu, hoba miso, and salmon sashimi. It was supposed to be the standard meal plan, but for us—a couple in our mid-50s—it was more than luxurious enough and very satisfying. As for hospitality, the woman at the front desk, the woman who served our meals, and the man were all friendly and warm. It’s also convenient—about a 5-minute walk to the Hirayu Bus Terminal for buses to Kamikochi. We had a wonderful trip.

I want to eat Hida beef! I want to enjoy sake while watching the snow! I want to relax in an onsen! All my wishes came true. I was satisfied with everything: the food, customer service, onsen, overall cleanliness of the property, and the warm atmosphere. I will use it again.

Everyone was extremely kind and attentive. The Room was clean, and the Onsen temperature was just right, so we were very satisfied. There was a wide variety of dishes; in particular, the tempura made with mountain vegetables looked great and tasted wonderful, and the grilled sweetfish was plump and delicious. It is a quiet Onsen town, but we were able to relax and were very satisfied.
