1. I would be happy if the breakfast price were a little lower. I’d like to take my time and enjoy everything, but mornings are busy, and sometimes I’m not feeling well, so I can’t eat enough to feel it’s worth the cost. 2. Also regarding breakfast: I wanted to drink Japanese tea but couldn’t find it, so I asked a staff member. The reply was rather curt: “The drinks (including tea bags) are only here and over there (such as juices).” Could you please provide Japanese tea bags? 3. About the changing area by the bath: some guests don’t dry themselves properly after bathing, and puddles form in front of the lockers. This isn’t very hygienic, so I hope you can add measures to encourage drying off or use flooring that prevents puddles from forming. Overall, it’s a good Hotel—please keep improving even further.

The Room atmosphere and views, as well as the free-flowing open-air bath, were excellent. The service and meals were also very good. The only downside was that the floor futon was firm and had seams, making it uncomfortable to sleep on. I think it would be even better with some improvement.

Right in front of Lake Kussharo—an unbeatable location. Rera is built diagonally in front of Fre, so you may be a bit aware of each other’s presence, and I did wonder what it would feel like if someone walked by while I was in the bath. The view from the second floor is simply stunning. The ingredients for the meals are luxurious and delicious, but unfortunately the wine selection didn’t match our taste (it would have been nice if at least the grape varieties were listed). Despite the overall great sense of style, there were some everyday-looking items like hand soap placed in the washroom, which slightly took away from the atmosphere. There was a faint damp smell on the towels, and the indoor slippers felt too ordinary—disposable ones might actually be better.

I had never stayed in Matsushima before and chose this place to relax and unwind. The entrance scenery featuring a beautiful combination of the moon and pine trees was wonderful, and all the staff were polite and kind. The private bath was also lovely—carefully designed with attention to the view and overall atmosphere. The food, of course, was thoughtfully prepared and delicious, but I was especially impressed by the details: the staff uniforms used local textiles, and even changed between morning and afternoon to match the mood. It was an elegant inn that beautifully incorporated both ambiance and regional craftsmanship. The hot spring left my skin incredibly smooth—you can truly feel it’s an onsen. I was able to spend a genuinely high-quality day here. The sake pairing at dinner was outstanding. As someone who loves sake, it was a wonderful option for me. This is an inn I would definitely love to visit again.

This stay became a truly memorable experience. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles, guided us around the Accommodation with great care, and showed thoughtful attention to every detail—service that naturally made us want to return. We felt comfortable throughout our stay. The Onsen was, simply put, outstanding. Our Room had a private open-air bath that we could enjoy all to ourselves. The water temperature was perfect, and from the moment we stepped in, it felt as if all the tension left our body. Soaking slowly while looking out over the beautiful forest was pure bliss, and we enjoyed it many times during our stay. The amenities also had a wonderful fragrance and quickly became a favorite. We chose the sake tasting Plan, and each selection had its own character and was fun to compare. As a sake lover, I was especially happy to be able to order Hiroki Aiyama separately—an exceptionally rare bottle—so finding it on the menu genuinely thrilled me. It paired perfectly with Aizu dishes such as herring marinated with Japanese pepper leaves. Being able to enjoy such precious sake while traveling is a truly luxurious memory, and it felt like something unique to an Accommodation in Aizu. They also lend inflatable rings for the Onsen. At first I thought, “An inflatable ring in an Onsen?” but after trying it, I was honestly amazed by how comfortable it was. Floating effortlessly while soaking lets you relax even more deeply than usual. It made me appreciate both their creativity and their playful desire for guests to fully enjoy the Onsen experience. The inflatable ring left a strong impression—I could soak almost face-down in complete relaxation. The cuisine, Onsen, and service were all excellent; this wasn’t an Accommodation where only one aspect stood out—the entire experience was consistently high quality. Thoughtful care could be felt everywhere, and the whole place overflowed with genuine hospitality. People say travel is defined by where you stay, and this visit truly proved that saying right. From the superb Onsen and heartwarming service to the eye-opening inflatable ring experience, it became a wonderful trip filled with great memories. We would love to visit again in another season—thank you very much.”

The Facility itself feels a bit dated, but the meals were delicious, with many dishes featuring seasonal local ingredients. The Onsen water was also excellent, and the Room had a reliable internet connection. Overall, we were very satisfied.

The facility is old but well-maintained and clean. The staff provided polite and excellent service. The price was also reasonable.

This was my first stay, and it was a comfortable Accommodation with courteous service. The Room was just the right size, and I could enjoy an evening stroll to nearby shrine events. The bath was not crowded, so I was able to relax. I was satisfied with both the quantity and taste of the meals, and it feels like a hidden gem I’d like to visit in every season. Next time, I’d like to stay in the new wing.

We stayed here for a celebration, and the meals, room, and service were all excellent—our whole family was very happy. If I had to ask for one thing, it would be perfect if both large public baths had an open-air bath and a sauna. Still, the in-room open-air bath was amazing—I even enjoyed it alone with a beer! The celebration cake, the drinks and sweets in the lounge, dinner and breakfast, and all the complimentary items and beverages were wonderful. The guest of honor—and our entire family—were truly impressed. Next time, I’d love to bring my parents as well; we look forward to staying with you again then.

We visited looking forward to the meals and the in-Room Onsen. The food was even more delicious than we imagined, and the attentive hospitality was wonderful—we enjoyed everything from the first appetizer to the final dessert. The next morning’s breakfast also made us happy, as we could enjoy a variety of dishes little by little. If we had been going straight home that day, I would have loved to buy some bread to take with us. The in-Room bath had a generously sized tub, so we could soak and relax at length. We also enjoyed both the open-air bath and indoor bath in the private Onsen. The Room felt comforting, like staying at someone’s home, and we were able to truly unwind. The kitchen is well equipped, so you could cook for yourself (though there was absolutely no need). Personally, I was especially glad that the refrigerator was full-sized—I could easily fit an entire boxed birthday cake inside. The chilled water in that refrigerator had a subtle sweetness too; I ended up loving it and drank it so quickly that I had to get up multiple times during the night to use the bathroom (laugh). I’d love to come back for the winter gratin as well, but I hesitate at the thought of snow piling up as high as 2 meters. We’ll choose our season carefully, but we will definitely return!!

This was my second visit to Kamiyamada Onsen, and this time I was able to relax while reminiscing about my previous stay around 10 years ago. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and thanks to the rotation of the large public baths, we were able to fully enjoy both. The sulfur Onsen felt light and gentle on the skin. The meals were delicious with seasonal ingredients, and the tableware was lovely as well. It is a traditional, charming place that makes me want to visit again.

Dinner was carefully prepared down to each dish. Breakfast was also delicious, just like a classic Ryokan breakfast. The bath was spacious, and I could relax and take my time. This is an Accommodation I’m very satisfied with and would recommend.

If you prefer simplicity, in-person check-in is recommended. 【Facilities】 The accommodation is very clean. All rooms are equipped with floor heating and individual air conditioners for maximum comfort. Each room has a private toilet and shower (the second-floor room includes a bathtub), ensuring privacy. The living room features high ceilings with an incredible sense of openness; however, while large windows offer great views, there are no blinds in the living area—this may be uncomfortable for some guests despite minimal surroundings. The semi-open-air bath on the first floor is spacious enough to accommodate 3–4 adult men at once comfortably but lacks a changing area (possibly designed for direct use after skiing using the laundry space near the entrance). Note that it’s visible from outside through its windows—likely from neighboring villas—so additional privacy measures would be appreciated. The kitchen is well-equipped with dishes and cooking utensils (though no measuring cup was available). Guests need to bring their own seasonings but will find it highly functional overall. Used dishes can simply be placed into the dishwasher. A baby crib can be borrowed free of charge if requested in advance (floor-sleeping type). Additionally, all rooms feature twin beds; however, according to staff members, they can rearrange them into a double bed layout upon request. 【Check-out】 Guests are told they may leave freely without any formalities at checkout time; however, confirming this process during your stay might provide peace of mind. 【Overall Experience】 The living room sofa was very comfortable to sit on, and we enjoyed watching TV on its large screen—it was an incredibly relaxing stay overall! We look forward to staying here again!

The Room and Onsen were satisfying, both in quality and price. I would like to use it again.

I was looking forward to the Onsen, known for its 800-year history. It was a free-flowing natural hot spring with very hot water—truly excellent. The meals used local ingredients, and I enjoyed the stylish tableware, dining area, and jazz music. The staff were also very kind. The Room was barrier-free, and I felt it would be suitable even for wheelchair users. The only disappointment was that, since it is an older Facility, some maintenance seemed lacking—for example, a coin locker was broken. Overall, I was satisfied. Thank you very much.

The renovated traditional building offers a modern Japanese-style Ryokan with friendly and helpful staff. The Onsen is available as a private bath, and you can use it anytime if it's vacant. There are three baths, each supposedly at different temperatures, but they all seemed to be the same temperature and quite hot. The much-talked-about breakfast was also delicious.

Even though I’m from Gonohe Town, I stayed here for the first time and only then realized what a wonderful Onsen and such a great Accommodation it has. I’ve used the baths many times, but my wife from Kyushu really wanted to stay overnight, so we booked with breakfast. The baths were excellent, and while the Room is a bit old, it was kept extremely clean. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from breakfast—but it was outstanding. The female staff’s pleasant greetings and service were excellent. We’ll be back. Thank you very much.

Easily accessible from Makinoto Pass, this is a great hotel with both meals and an onsen. Dinner offers a wide variety of dishes that will leave you full. Breakfast is also delicious. The onsen includes family baths with open-air options as well as indoor baths, providing a wonderful experience. While the building and rooms may show some age, it is still a highly recommended accommodation.

We stayed here after visiting Togakushi Shrine. With only 12 Rooms, we were able to use the bath with hardly anyone else around. The open-air bath was pleasantly warm, so we could soak slowly and relax—it felt wonderful. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. The rice in particular was outstanding—soft, slightly sticky, and naturally sweet—and we enjoyed it until we were completely full.
