On my previous trip I stayed here with friends, but this time I had the pleasure of staying with my elderly mother to celebrate her 88th birthday. Because she has difficulty walking, I was a little worried about accessibility, but you kindly assisted us in every situation and we were able to stay comfortably. Although it rained unfortunately, we were able to relax and talk in our Room, and also enjoy a pottery painting experience, making it a truly happy time. The meals were also very delicious. Not only the Akaushi beef and fish, but the Yamato vegetables were wonderful as well. We could also feel the scenery of Nara through the tableware, and the seasonal hydrangeas painted on it delighted us visually too. On our way to the dining area, we found a large snail. Seeing my mother smile happily like a child left a strong impression on me, and it made me realize again that choosing Ubusuna no Sato for this trip was the right decision. Thank you very much for giving us such a happy time. I’m already looking forward to receiving the plate we painted.

It’s not a flashy tourist destination, and it doesn’t have particularly scenic views, but it’s my favorite Accommodation where you can relax and unwind. I’ve visited nearly 10 times so far. The biggest highlight is probably the food. The kaiseki cuisine, served in beautiful tableware, has had a consistently reliable taste for years. Because more Rooms now come with open-air baths, there are three small baths that you can use whenever they’re available. Two of them require going up and down steep stairs, so I wouldn’t recommend them for guests with mobility issues, but they have a wonderful atmosphere. The Onsen water quality is excellent and well regarded. This time I chose a relatively affordable Room, so there was no in-room dining. Still, the Room was clean and prepared so our family could spend quiet time together, so there were no issues. This was my first time visiting by train. If you contact them in advance, they can also provide pick-up and drop-off service. One downside—though I’m not sure if this applies to all Rooms—is that the toilet/bath area in the Room is a unit bath. It’s a bit disappointing given how charming the Room is otherwise. Also, while you can walk around barefoot inside the building, it was disappointing that they no longer provide socks—though perhaps I simply should have asked for them. If possible, I recommend a Multiple Night Stay so you can take it easy—read books, enjoy the Onsen, and take naps during the day. I’d like to visit again.

We stayed here for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The Accommodation was beautifully arranged, and all of the staff were wonderful. We were delighted that each person congratulated us on our anniversary. Every dish was delicious, with carefully prepared broth, and the tableware was lovely as well. My spouse and I truly enjoyed a happy time together. We also enjoyed the open-air bath many times. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

We stayed with three family members and our dog. The building nestled in fresh greenery was truly beautiful, and the extraordinary Room space was amazing! At night, we dimmed the lights, played jazz, enjoyed some drinks, and relaxed at our own pace. Our daughter also played the lovely piano for us—it was such a luxurious time. There were Jenga and playing cards provided, and it was surprisingly fun to play them in such a unique setting! The morning bath surrounded by greenery was also wonderful—every moment was truly special. Our daughter was thrilled and said she wants to stay here again next time we come to Karuizawa, and we had a fantastic time overall. Thank you as well to the staff for being so friendly and kind!

With its simple design and calming atmosphere, this Accommodation is recommended for restoring both body and mind. In particular, the Japanese and herbal tea lounge on the 8th floor lets you blend Japanese tea with herbal ingredients yourself, place them into a tea bag, and enjoy a wellness tea while relaxing music plays—an experience that left us fully satisfied.

I’m sorry if I simply overlooked it at the amenities bar, but I believe only toothbrushes were available. I would have liked toothpaste as well. Also, it would have been nice to have small bath salts. Other than that, I was very satisfied! Thank you very much. Please note that the convenience store downstairs closes at 11:00 PM (when I stayed). When I went to buy bath salts, it was already closed.

This was my third stay, and each time I leave thinking, “I’m glad I stayed here—I’ll come back.” It’s a Ryokan where the artwork in the lounge and the amenities in the guest rooms are all wonderful traditional tools that showcase Japanese craftsmanship, and I’m happy to discover different pieces each visit. I was a little worried after hearing the chef had changed, but it was completely unfounded—the flavors and menu were both excellent. Since we stayed the day after my birthday, they prepared a beautiful dessert plate for me. I was impressed by the skill of the young pastry chef. The wine pairing was also great. Breakfast was thoughtfully arranged as well, and I think I’ll always remember how delicious it was to grill Onomichi ingredients over a hibachi. Every member of staff is pleasant, and I truly appreciate how they stay close while keeping just the right distance. We’ll be back in winter—thank you in advance.

Conveniently located near train stations and department stores. The Room is clean, spacious enough, and quiet. This wording sounds natural and works well as a Review for a Hotel or Accommodation. We stayed here to celebrate my mother’s 88th birthday, as she has grown older and sightseeing has become physically difficult for her. There were some misunderstandings on both sides regarding the Room, but thank you very much for your heartfelt attention to every detail. They were extremely kind. The next day, I tried to book a sightseeing taxi, but none were available and I was in trouble. A member of the Hotel staff kindly showed me around for half a day. Thank you so much. It may be rude to say this, but I was surprised to find such a wonderful Hotel in Oki.

We visited with 11 people from 4 families to celebrate the owner's birthday. After visiting Honpukuji Temple by Ando architecture and being impressed by its magnificence, we entered the Hotel with high expectations. Our expectations were not disappointed, as we could feel the art museums and Hotels of Naoshima throughout the building, which made us feel nostalgic and happy. I was particularly impressed by how pleasant the person in charge during meals was. Thank you very much.

We visited as a family of four, meeting up at Yamanashishi Station with our eldest son who lives in Tokyo and the three of us who drove from Kansai. As we got closer to the Accommodation, the country road shown by the navigation system made us think, “Could it really be this way?” and we struggled a little. If I had to mention any negatives from this trip, it would be that—and that the washbasin sink was black, so water marks were slightly noticeable after use. Upon arrival, we were surprised by how distinct and impressive it looked compared with its surroundings. We arrived about 30 minutes earlier than planned, but we were warmly welcomed and smoothly shown inside, which left a great first impression. The moment we opened the tasteful sliding entrance door set back from the gate, we were moved by the view stretching from the pine tree in the center courtyard all the way to the kura storehouse building across it. While preserving many historical elements—such as exterior walls, tiled roof, and pillars—the interior has been renovated into a clean and refined space that feels wonderful to spend time in. In both the audio room at the back where you can listen to records and the second-floor study stocked with everything from relatively recent Japanese literature to art books and foreign titles, there were chairs and ottomans in different styles arranged throughout. We were able to forget everyday life and relax at length. These spaces became favorites for my wife and daughter, who have a strong appreciation for music and art. My eldest son and I also used the sauna in the separate kura building across the courtyard before dinner. It’s available 24 hours; he enjoyed it late at night, while I went again after breakfast the next morning. In addition to a cold plunge bath there is also a regular bathtub; together with the indoor hinoki cypress bath in main building where you can fully stretch out your legs, there are two bathing options. Dinner and breakfast were served in another kura building on opposite side , featuring thoughtfully crafted dishes using plenty of local ingredients. We thoroughly enjoyed everything—especially Koshu-style sukiyaki with beef and horse meat paired with three dipping sauces—alongside wine we picked up on our way there. After dinner we projected onto a large screen with projector held family drama viewing night for all four of us. We slept in bedroom where four beds could be lined up comfortably side by side. They even provided charging cables at each bedside equipped with three types of connectors—we were impressed by such attention to detail. Speaking of details: along with alcohol , refrigerator was stocked plenty chilled mineral water which was very helpful given season . There was also an assortment of nostalgic snacks card games insect-repellent items etc., showing both thoughtfulness playfulness. A location completely removed from noise spacious layout well-maintained Facilities lacking nothing an endlessly interesting interior blending old new perfectly—and being able enjoy all without interference as family four. It exceeded our expectations imagination. We’re glad chose this place for one those precious few times each year when whole family can gather . Thank you for your attentive hospitality .

From the moment we arrived and stepped into the forest, we were captivated by the beautiful architecture. Lush greenery stretches as far as the eye can see, and the space—where white walls blend perfectly with tasteful furnishings—made us feel happy just being there. What impressed us most was the top-floor bedroom and the glass-walled bath. It felt as if we were floating in the forest, and spending time surrounded by nature was an unforgettable experience. The staff were wonderful—always attentive and courteous—which made our stay comfortable and worry-free from start to finish. We visited with our dog this time, and it was truly dog-friendly. Our pet stayed relaxed throughout and seemed to enjoy every moment. Above all, a morning walk through the forest is exceptional. The clear air and peaceful silence created a special kind of time that’s hard to find in everyday life. A place we would love to return to—and one we can wholeheartedly recommend.

I stayed here for my second night on a solo trip. Tucked away down a small path, it was so quiet—no traffic noise, just birds and insects. There were even cute little frogs on the terrace, which felt wonderful for someone who loves wildlife. The grounds are beautifully planted with lots of greenery, and the Room was extremely clean. The meals used ingredients harvested on the property and were outstanding—carefully prepared and delicate, yet warmly home-style at the same time. After the delicious dinner, they prepared a beautiful open-air bath for me, and I slept like a log until right before breakfast time. The owner couple were also very kind, sharing details about the ingredients, the plants on the property, and recommended spots to visit. This is a truly wonderful Accommodation filled with their care in every aspect—from the Room to the food to all Facilities. It’s an Accommodation I’ll definitely want to return to. This stay was to fulfill my wife’s wish to ride the trolley train at least once. It was very convenient, as we could see Saga-Arashiyama, the first station of the trolley train, from the Hotel. We were blessed with great weather and scenery, and enjoyed about 25 minutes to Kameoka while looking down at boats enjoying the thrilling Hozugawa River cruise. I have stayed at this Hotel several times, and I was very satisfied with both the bath and dinner/breakfast. The Hotel staff were also very kind. This time, I bought protective charms at nearby Nonomiya Shrine, famous from The Tale of Genji, for my two daughters who live in Tokyo and sent them to them. This is a Hotel I would definitely like to visit again if I have the chance.

You can really feel the dignity of a long-established Ryokan. It had the distinguished atmosphere of an Accommodation that hosts the Kisei title match. After arrival, my companion was delighted with the welcome beer (or soft drink). We used the complimentary beer voucher during our stay after bathing and enjoyed a delicious post-bath beer. Dinner was served in our Room, so we could relax and take our time. I had breakfast in the dining area, though it seems in-room breakfast is also available. I say that because a staff member mistakenly came to deliver breakfast to our Room (an error). Both dinner and breakfast were enjoyable, making great use of local ingredients. Breakfast in particular was simple but delicious. At checkout, the staff apologized for the breakfast mix-up, and the proprietress also offered her apologies. That kind of thoughtfulness felt like true Japanese Ryokan hospitality.

It was a well-deserved getaway for the two of us. Rain was in the forecast, but the Room was far better than we imagined and it became an unforgettable memory! The kitchenware was fully stocked, and both the bathroom and toilet were clean and convenient.

More than 30 years ago, I stayed here once in the previous building, so I arrived with some concerns. It has been transformed with a completely new concept, yet the good old traditions have been preserved, and I truly enjoyed a satisfying stay. A first-class Accommodation. This time it was just my spouse and me, but next time we would love to stay with our children and their families.

The staff were friendly, and the Room was clean and comfortable! This time as well, we enjoyed seasonal cocktails at B1F (Bar Anchor).

I stayed here twice a few years ago, and I was truly happy to be able to return after a long time. All of the staff were genuinely pleasant, and I had a very relaxing stay. In particular, thank you to Mr./Ms. H (I’m using an initial as I’m not sure if it’s okay to share the name) who assisted with my check-in. One thing only: I used FORNI for both dinner and breakfast. At dinner, my meat was upgraded, but I wasn’t asked about my preferred doneness. At breakfast, we were told it would be a choice of main dish plus a semi-buffet, but later we were informed that choosing the Japanese set would not include the semi-buffet, which was a bit disappointing. Even so, this is truly a wonderful Hotel. I look forward to visiting again.
