We stayed here because each Room has a free-flowing Onsen bath. Our Room was a Standard Twin, but it was spacious enough for the two of us to relax comfortably. The bathtub was also large enough for two, so we were able to fully enjoy the Onsen. Dinner was an additional charge, but we enjoyed very delicious Hida beef. Some staff spoke only basic Japanese, but there were no issues with the service and it felt refreshingly different. We would like to stay again.

This was our second stay since May. Last time I traveled alone, but this time my wife joined me. By chance, the Accommodation owner was free and took us by kayak to Kabira Bay. I’ve visited Ishigaki Island many times, but it was my first time exploring inside Kabira Bay. We had a fantastic time—landing on an uninhabited island to observe mangroves and snorkeling along the way. At nearby Crystal Beach, we were able to swim among a wide variety of coral formations and tropical fish that you’d normally only see on a boat tour, and my wife was thrilled. I think this Accommodation is perfect for anyone who wants to truly experience and enjoy the real sea of Ishigaki Island.

We enjoyed a one-night, two-day stay with sauna, BBQ, and a campfire. Although we were worried that the BBQ and sauna might be cold due to the season, the campfire made it comfortable and enjoyable! The Facility inside was well-equipped, making us wonder if it was really okay to use it at this price. We would love to stay again if we have another opportunity!

Enjoy the great nature of Nasu with a sauna & Onsen. The Facility was highly satisfying. We look forward to visiting again next year.

We took a one-night family trip with our second-grade son. Just as the high ratings suggest, we’re glad we chose this Accommodation. The staff were very kind, and the food was so delicious it made us say “wow.” Our child was happy playing with the provided toys and games. Also, the chilled barley tea prepared in the Room was a nice touch. The scenery felt like being in the middle of a forest. However, in the bathroom, the blinds blocked any view outside, and we were a bit concerned about stains on the white wooden slatted mat. We made great memories exploring a limestone cave (there was a 100-yen discount coupon per person at this Accommodation), having lunch at the restaurant by Okutama Lake Dam the next day, and enjoying our train trip. Thank you very much.

Barbecue facilities were available, and it was amazing. We had a wonderful New Year's experience.

This was my first time staying at a guesthouse, and it was clean and comfortable. The Room was spacious, the bed was large and roomy, and I was impressed by how well-equipped the shared areas were. I would like to stay here again.

I’m a repeat guest, and the Room is always clean, and the in-room bath features free-flowing natural hot spring water. Despite being close to the station, it feels almost like having the place to yourself, making it an ideal Accommodation for relaxing at a leisurely pace. Honestly, it’s such a great Accommodation for me that I almost don’t want to tell anyone else about it.

We had a very quiet and comfortable stay. The meals were generous and delicious. The staff’s service was excellent. Thank you very much.

I’ve been a guest since the former Kasumi Terrace days, and I’m happy to see it back. This time, instead of my usual takeout dinner, I used the kitchen to cook (though I only grilled some meat…). After cycling, I was able to relax and recover by soaking in the bathtub. Great value for money—excellent stay. I’ll be back!

A stylish architect-designed Hotel in Naka-Karuizawa. As it is a wooden building, you should not expect strong soundproofing, but it may actually be a good fit for those who want to feel close to nature. It was disappointing that Buildings 1, 2, and 3 are on separate plots, so you need to walk along the sidewalk of the main road. The restaurant serves excellent food and is well worth trying. Since the Room’s shower area is inside the bedroom, I felt a glass partition would be better than a curtain. This Hotel has well-equipped shared spaces; guests who don’t mind other visitors around will enjoy it. There are many negative Reviews, but personally I think it was more than acceptable. I would like to stay again.

I couldn’t forget how moved I was when I visited 30 years ago, so I came back this time. I worried that many things might have changed, but what has been carefully preserved over the years and what has been thoughtfully improved have come together in harmony, making this stay an even more precious memory than before. The food was excellent, the Room furnishings were wonderful, and the spring water felt gentle on the skin. The bath size was just right—not too big or too small—and with only five parties accepted, we could truly relax as guests. Calmly put, that’s how it felt. If I add a bit of personal feeling: first of all, the cuisine is outstanding. Many guests must come back in every season just to eat here. It’s rare to feel so full and still not want to leave a single bite—this made me realize that truly delicious food somehow still goes down. Tomato hot pot, char grilled on magnolia leaf (yamame trout), chilled peach soup, chicken meatball hot pot, Japanese pepper rice, and more…every item on the menu was creative and impeccably tasteful, with superb seasoning throughout. From the sweets served on arrival onward, everything is handmade; hearing that five parties per day is their limit honestly earned my deepest respect. That spirit of hospitality—never sparing time or effort—can be felt everywhere inside the Ryokan, and it reminded me that the very essence of this Accommodation that captivated my mother and me 30 years ago continues unchanged. Another thing they have protected without changing is the mineral spring bath. At first I was confused because the shower flow was weak and lukewarm, but there was a proper rinsing area with hair-washing amenities set out; thinking “why not,” I moved there and washed my hair using buckets of water for rinsing. I could rinse thoroughly, and my hair became smooth and moisturized. It made me smile at how “washing with a shower” had become my default assumption—and at the same time it was fun to imagine different ways to use the bath space as a guest. Both the open-air bath and indoor bath were so comfortable I wanted to stay in forever. There’s much more charm—like the beautiful valley view from the window—that I can’t fully capture here, but this is a beloved landmark Ryokan that I hope will remain for many years to come.

We were blessed with great weather, and the view from our Room and the starry night sky were truly wonderful. The Onsen was also a sulfur-rich milky hot spring that we love, incredibly relaxing, and made for a very luxurious stay. Every dish was a carefully crafted creative kaiseki meal prepared for us, and it was delicious. We would love to visit again if we have the chance.

We visited as a couple and stayed in a Room for two with a private bath. The view from the bath was amazing—we were able to see a sea of clouds, which was the highlight of our stay. If I had to wish for something, it would be for the window to open wider. At first, it seemed like there weren’t many staff members, but every time we passed someone, they greeted us warmly. The Accommodation was quiet, and we could also enjoy complimentary drinks on the balcony, which was wonderful. The road getting there was quite tough, so it felt like an accomplishment! It was such a warm Accommodation—they even checked in with us about the weather.

I had the pleasure of revisiting the enchanting Sasayuri-an. After an unforgettable experience at "Kozuno," this time I stayed in another building, "Zao." About a month ago, I was fortunate to connect with Sasayuri-an and was deeply touched by the warmth of the owners. Since then, I eagerly anticipated my return. My expectations were high due to my previous wonderful stay, but this visit exceeded them in every way. The moment we stepped inside, everyone let out a gasp of awe—it felt like stepping into another world. This 150-year-old traditional thatched-roof house is a perfect blend of historical beauty and modern comfort, truly a hidden gem. The stunning terraced rice fields visible through the windows and the star-filled night sky created an extraordinary atmosphere. The space is both majestic and refined yet evokes a nostalgic sense of comfort. Above all, the exceptional hospitality from the owners provided deep relaxation. The owner's passion for detail is evident everywhere—from beams relocated from a 400-year-old structure to speakers once used by Ryuichi Sakamoto—making every conversation with him fascinating and inspiring. Despite visiting in February's cold weather, thoughtful touches like fireplaces, discreetly placed air conditioners that preserve aesthetic harmony, and oil heaters along hallways ensured warmth throughout this spacious accommodation. The owner also practices as a Yamabushi (mountain ascetic) alongside managing his business. During our stay, we had rare opportunities to experience waterfall meditation and fire rituals under his guidance while enjoying stories about Shugendo around an irori hearth—a truly memorable experience! Evenings were spent chatting by irori flames or soaking in herbal baths within cypress tubs to unwind completely; mornings began with delicious coffee paired with breathtaking views of Japan’s timeless rural landscape—a blissful retreat indeed. Sasayuri-an offers an unparalleled escape from urban chaos where both mind and body can rejuvenate fully—a genuinely special place worth cherishing forever! Although we rarely revisit accommodations multiple times ourselves here feels different; it’s somewhere precious enough always wanting return alongside loved ones again someday soon! With facilities such as pizza ovens BBQ setups campfire areas ready springtime glamping plans already excite us looking forward next visit ahead!

I made a reservation as a birthday gift for my beloved. Wanting him to refresh from daily fatigue in the countryside, we enjoyed the perfect space and time. The place was clean, calming, and comfortable even though it was our first visit. The indoor charcoal grill experience was fantastic. Ingredients were well-prepared and easy to use, with the option to bring additional items for cooking—meals were truly satisfying. At night, we enjoyed drinks together, had deeper conversations than usual, and spent an incredibly fulfilling time. We definitely want to come back here together again!

We stayed as three generations of our family. We were traveling with our twin fourth-graders who have autism and intellectual disabilities. In a typical Hotel, we would need to be constantly mindful of those around us, so we searched for an Accommodation where we could stay privately and found this place. We were truly grateful to be able to relax without worrying about others even if the children suddenly shouted or became noisy in the middle of the night. The staff were also understanding about disabilities, which made us feel safe and comfortable throughout our stay. The artwork displayed inside, created by people with disabilities, was wonderful as well and gave the space a warm atmosphere. Because we could cook for ourselves, it was easy to prepare meals that suited our children’s picky eating habits without forcing anything. We also appreciated the beautiful tableware and well-stocked amenities. The adults enjoyed cooking with Maezawa beef and local sake we purchased nearby. Sharing meals together around the counter was a very happy time for all of us. Another highlight was being able to fully enjoy the charm of this traditional house—the solid, historic feel; the morning views; the sunset; and the sounds of nature outside—at a relaxed pace in complete privacy. In summer, insects do come inside, but even that felt like part of an authentic experience of nature in this area. Our parents also said they would love to come again. We highly recommend this Accommodation to families looking for a place to travel with children with disabilities.

A quiet cottage at the entrance to a forest on a hill. There are two horses on the property. (Lala and Niji.) Just beyond the dog-run garden is their paddock, and it was so relaxing to watch them calmly grazing from the living room window. The cottage itself is spacious, with high vaulted ceilings, and we were able to spend a truly restful time. It was very thoughtfully equipped with cooking utensils, amenities, insect repellent, mosquito coils, and more. If you walk up the small path next to the cottage that leads into the woods, you can enjoy a forest stroll. It also seems to be used as a campsite, with well-maintained footing, and in the morning we enjoyed some forest bathing with our dog. Nojimazaki Lighthouse and Okinoshima are also nearby, so we were able to fully enjoy both the sea and the mountains. Next time, we’d love to visit in a season when we can enjoy the wood-burning stove. Thank you very much.

We stayed for one night as a family of five. From the beginning, the staff provided courteous service when we informed them about our late check-in. After purchasing ingredients, we enjoyed a barbecue upon arrival, and they even helped us (almost entirely) with lighting the charcoal. We were given freshly picked vegetables from that morning, which were incredibly fresh and delicious. When we ran out of ice and planned to buy more, they quickly went out of their way to get it for us. The facility was stylish and exceptional, with cleanliness maintained to perfection. From arrival to check-out, their attentive service and hospitality left us deeply impressed—undoubtedly the best accommodation we've ever stayed at! Above all, the warmth and kindness of the staff stood out most. I can confidently recommend this place to others!
