True to its name as an auberge, the most outstanding part was, above all, the cuisine. The dishes created by a young chef in his twenties used local ingredients and were finished with techniques like careful cooking and fermentation that brought out each ingredient’s natural character. Each plate felt full of energy; the moment it touched my lips, deep, nourishing flavors overflowed. Everything was beautiful to look at as well, and my heart lifted every time a new dish arrived. Listening to the explanations of each course was also a pleasure. Conversation flowed naturally and effortlessly, and even though I stayed alone, I never felt lonely—I simply had a wonderful time. When I showed interest in the modern art throughout the property, I was delighted that the manager took the time to explain each piece one by one. I could sense the owner’s taste and philosophy behind the collection. Every work had its own character, including a Banksy lithograph. Rather than simply displaying art, it felt as though the owner’s aesthetic vision for what this Hotel should be was expressed throughout the entire space. The sea seen from the window was wonderfully calm; without rushing toward checkout time, I was able to relax at ease until departure. A Hotel stay filled with warm hospitality—I would love to return again.

Above all, the cuisine was outstanding. I also enjoyed the private open-air bath in my room many times. I’d love to visit again!

Only 10 Rooms on a spacious property. The grove garden right in front of you is a private view (guests cannot enter), giving you the true feel of a vacation home. We were completely satisfied with everything—the Room, the semi-open-air bath in the Room, the open-air bath at the large public bath, and dinner featuring an array of premium ingredients considered luxurious in Japanese cuisine, as well as breakfast with just the right portion size. If we had to make one small request, it would be that the bath towels were a bit thicker.

We stayed here for a birthday trip, and it truly was a completely satisfying stay. Dinner was top-class in every respect—flavor, presentation, and ingredient quality—and the smoked splendid alfonsino was especially outstanding. They also kindly prepared a special birthday message plate at dinner, which made us very happy. The restaurant service and atmosphere were wonderful as well. The Japanese breakfast the next morning was also high quality, and the presentation using a wooden bento box felt fresh and memorable. The Room was very spacious, and the ocean view from the second floor was breathtaking—sea and sky blending into one. Soaking in the open-air bath (Onsen) while gazing at the moon was an indescribably blissful moment. With no TV intentionally provided, we were able to enjoy a digital detox and fully immerse ourselves in nature. Our daughter loved the pool too, so I highly recommend it for families with children. The lounge bar offered a wide variety of drinks and alcohol, and it was convenient and appreciated that we could bring them back to our Room. We would definitely like to stay again.

Given the location, it may be no surprise that the fish is delicious, but the soup and side dishes were also excellent. The cooking showed outstanding taste and skill. Breakfast in particular was impressive—generous in portion size and well balanced. We stayed as a family in two Rooms. The special Room in the main building was very relaxing, with a living room overlooking the sea and a bedroom with a massage chair and a large TV. The detached annex was spacious and stylish with a modern feel, and we slept very well there. This was entirely our mistake, but thank you for kindly helping us look for our lost item. A wonderful Accommodation.

Very pleasant and welcoming service, delicious meals, an easy-to-use Room, and a Moor Onsen. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. I was impressed to be served herring prepared with fine cuts like hamo bone-cutting—truly Hokkaido. I loved the gazpacho so much I wanted to take it home! That said, being from Kansai, I found the broth flavor of the surinagashi a little mild. Also, the duvet felt a bit heavy. I’d love to visit again someday.

We were completely satisfied with both the Room and the meals. The meal for our dog was also a feast, making this a truly happy trip. We would definitely love to stay again.

I was amazed by the relaxed atmosphere of the Ryokan and the many delicious dishes—especially the abundance of fish—along with superb sake. The sunset and evening glow were incredibly beautiful and truly moving.

Since dinner isn’t included, there is a shuttle bus to and from the Kanazawa Station area, which makes it easy to go out to eat. Even though it’s one Room, the bath and toilet are in the middle, so it feels like the space is divided, which I liked. The breakfast buffet has a wide variety of options; the Kanazawa curry is delicious, and there are plenty of side dishes too—it's a luxurious breakfast that I really enjoyed. As soon as you enter the Hotel entrance, it smells wonderful, which I loved. I will definitely stay here again when I visit Kanazawa.

Dear Kamon Team, To celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary, we stayed here for the first time, choosing your Accommodation based on Reviews around the Hakone area—and it turned into the best anniversary we could have hoped for. My wife and I are truly grateful. From check-in to check-out, we received exceptionally attentive hospitality. Starting with the wonderful attendant who looked after us with such a warm smile, every member of staff impressed us with their professionalism and thoughtful attention to detail—exactly as described in the Reviews. The beautifully renewed design blending Japanese and Western styles was delightful, and everything throughout the Facility was impeccably cleaned and well maintained, creating a wonderful sense of freshness and comfort. As lovers of traditional Ryokan stays, both my wife and I were completely satisfied. We were also thrilled by the wide selection of stylish yukata for women—and even more so to receive an adorable pouch filled with amenities. When we mentioned in advance that we were visiting for our anniversary, you prepared framed red-and-white crane mizuhiki decorations at the dining venue; chopstick rests featuring celebratory characters; sekihan served in a charming bowl marked with “good fortune”; and even a commemorative ceramic tumbler set as a gift. Dinner was outstanding: exquisite ingredients beautifully presented on elegant tableware, creating an impressive experience that delighted all five senses. We could truly feel the aesthetic sense and craftsmanship of your kitchen team in every detail. Of course, everything—from taste and portion size to temperature control (hot/cold) as well as timely serving and clearing—was flawless. We have stayed at many luxury Ryokan and heritage Hotels over the years for our anniversaries, but there is no doubt that Kamon has become an unforgettable Accommodation for us. Even on our way home, my wife and I couldn’t stop talking about your hospitality. We would love to return again, so we hope you will welcome us back when we do. My first trip to Onomichi. I chose Hansei, highly rated for its outstanding cuisine. The kaiseki meals made with seasonal Setouchi ingredients were exceptional—each dish carefully prepared, and while true to classic kaiseki, they also incorporated new ingredients in a way that was both impressive and delicious. Even the pickles were finely scored with hidden knife work, showing thoughtful consideration for the guest. I was amazed by the high level of quality. The special sea bream chazuke (with sesame sauce) at breakfast was also superb.

As wonderful as the food was, what moved me most was the attentiveness and care shown by all the staff. From check-in to check-out, their hospitality was excellent. One member of staff in charge of dining even quietly placed an extra dish beside a photo of a family member who could not join us at breakfast and dinner—an incredibly touching gesture.

The “Travel Memory Book” was something that staff had written for the first time, but it became a truly lovely keepsake—the carefully drawn illustration and message conveyed their warmth so clearly.

With such wonderful staff and delicious food, Hansei is a place I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

Even though I don’t swim in the sea, I travel solo year-round in search of gourmet Accommodations near the coast (for the food and scenery). I was delighted to be upgraded to a sea-view Room. It was a Japanese-style Room, but it also had a leather sofa and ottoman, so I could stretch out and relax while gazing at the ocean. When I woke up around 5:00, I was able to watch a beautiful sunrise from the Room. There is a calm inner-sea beach right in front of the Accommodation, and there are showers as well—great for families with small children. The meals were outstanding, featuring an abundance of local specialties. My main goal was Wakasa-guji (tilefish), but it was even more delicious than I imagined—the Wakasa-guji ochazuke was exceptional. And the Matsunaga rice was unbelievably good (probably the best I’ve ever had). I didn’t use the public bath and used the shower in my Room instead, but I loved that the shampoo and conditioner were Hokurokusousui—one of my favorite brands—and it helped me relax. Recently there have been more Accommodations renovated from wooden buildings, but some noise—voices and footsteps—is unavoidable. You can often hear children as well. It’s not exactly quiet. However, more than making up for that, I felt each staff member’s hospitality and way of interacting with guests was wonderful. In particular: the woman with glasses who assisted me at check-in; the woman at breakfast (I’m sorry—I forgot your name); and one of the male staff members who kindly gave me helpful advice for sightseeing in Obama after check-out. Thanks to them, it became more than just an overnight stay—I had a chance to learn even more about Obama, making this trip extremely satisfying. I heard that midwinter is especially good for grouper, pufferfish, and Echizen crab. As transportation access improves from here on out, this will be an Accommodation you’ll want to visit even more. Next time it would be perfect if I could borrow a firmer pillow!! Please make that happen on my next visit!! (I can’t sleep if a pillow doesn’t suit me.) We stayed here as a family of four during summer vacation. We chose the No Meals Included plan because we planned to enjoy street food along Dogo Onsen’s Haikara Street, and it turned out to be an outstanding stay: everything was spotless, the Onsen was excellent, the futons were very comfortable, and access to Haikara Street was great. Above all, the staff worked seamlessly as a team and responded quickly and courteously—it was truly impressive. Our whole family agreed we were lucky to find such a wonderful Accommodation. This time we booked No Meals Included, but the Ryokan meals also looked delicious, so next time we’d like to stay with meals included. It’s an Accommodation we would definitely love to visit again. The building is showing its age, but it is carefully cleaned, and the furniture and furnishings are well maintained. The ikebana arrangements are beautifully displayed and are said to be rearranged each time by the staff. The chef is from Nemuro and sources fresh seafood from there. The vegetables and meat are locally sourced from within Hokkaido. Every time, both the presentation and the flavor are excellent, and we enjoy our meal with genuine admiration. We plan to visit again next year to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

My first trip to Tottori. I was exhausted after the scorching heat at the Tottori Sand Dunes, but I was soothed by the Onsen, a wonderful dinner, and hospitality-filled service. The open-air bath in our detached Room was very spacious, and I enjoyed it many times. I especially loved the shiso pickled scallions served at dinner and bought some at the shop. I was surprised to find such a wonderful Onsen Accommodation so close to the station. I’d love to visit again.

I stayed with friends, and the food was so delicious that it truly made me happy. It made me want to come again with my family, and I want them to enjoy the meals too. The Room was clean, and the service was very pleasant. Since the Room we stayed in didn’t have a sofa, I felt it might be a bit difficult if I brought my elderly parents without one. Still, next time I’d like to visit with my husband and daughter.

The three of us—three generations of our family—stayed here. That day, only the suite Room was available and it was a bit pricey, but with the spectacular view it was absolutely the right choice. The scenery, cuisine, and service were all outstanding. I have never had sea urchin this delicious. The Standard Plan offered more than enough dishes, and our son in his 20s was very satisfied. The sunrise was slightly covered by clouds, but that made it feel mystical in its own way. This is a Hotel we would definitely like to visit again.

We stayed at this Accommodation mainly for the teppanyaki. The cooking was performed right in front of us. The meal included oysters, shrimp, fish, and meat, and we ended up far too full. In the morning, we also enjoyed omelets and French toast made on the teppan, so both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The staff were kind and attentive. Thank you very much.

I’d been wanting to visit for a long time, and I treated myself to a Multiple Night Stay solo to truly relax. I’m so glad I chose this place! I’ve stayed at many Hotels and Ryokans in Japan and abroad, and this has become one of my top three favorites. Everything used throughout the Hotel is carefully selected and meticulously maintained. The staff were warm and kind in such a natural way—it was genuinely soothing. And the food—absolutely unforgettable! I had all three meals here, and if only I had another stomach, I would have loved to try even more from the menu. There were plenty of fresh local vegetables; everything was truly delicious, beautifully presented with great taste, and above all, you could feel the chef’s love in every dish. It makes perfect sense that so many guests return again and again. It was hot in midsummer, but I rented an e-bike, rode to the beach, and went for a swim. Just as rumored, the water was crystal clear—the beach was stunning—and it left me feeling completely refreshed. I will definitely come back in another season. Although we arrived in rainy weather, we were warmly welcomed by many staff members, making for a wonderful start that almost felt more than we deserved. The building, designated as a Tangible Cultural Property, has a rich sense of history, yet it is meticulously maintained throughout, allowing us to relax in complete comfort. In addition to the pleasantly warm and soothing Onsen, the cuisine was truly outstanding. On departure, they even took a complimentary commemorative photo and later sent it to our home—such a thoughtful gesture that made this an unforgettable memory. Everything was exceptional, including the hospitality, and this is an Accommodation we would love to stay at again. Thank you very much.
