Hotel Ijika-so, Ishikiri Onsen

The property has been renovated and feels exceptionally clean. The front desk, guest rooms, and restaurant all offer breathtaking views. If it had an open-air bath, it would be perfect.

I looked for an Accommodation that meets these conditions: an ocean view, an Onsen, not a buffet, and suitable for solo travelers. The ocean was right in front of me from both the Room and the bath, and the view was wonderful. The Onsen had soft water, and I was able to soak and relax. When making my Reservation, I hesitated because there is no open-air bath, but even through the glass this view was more than enough. Listening to the sound of the waves on the deck while watching distant islands and passing ships was truly soothing. All of the staff were calm and courteous. The building was well maintained, and I had a comfortable stay. The hair dryer had a corded design so I worried about the airflow, but it was fine. The food was delicious, but since I’m not a fan of abalone, I would have been happy if there were a Plan where even solo guests could enjoy plenty of sashimi instead. The isomeshi lived up to its reputation as a local specialty and was very tasty. I planned to buy the salt served at dinner as a souvenir; thinking I could get it elsewhere, I didn’t buy it at the Hotel and looked for it at other souvenir shops but couldn’t find it—something I regret. I’d like to visit again in another season.
