HOTEL AZ Yamaguchi Iwakuni Branch

I used this hotel as a base for a solo trip from out of town. The parking lot was very spacious, and I was able to park near the entrance, which made carrying my luggage quick and easy. At the front desk, they informed me in advance that there would be a group staying, and their thoughtful consideration made me feel at ease. I had a comfortable and worry-free stay. I would definitely like to stay here again when I travel to this area.

I have stayed at AZ Hotel dozens of times, and I have used the Iwakuni location more than 10 times. There have been no issues with the Facility, noise, meals, or parking. It’s comfortable. However, this time the breakfast buffet did not have any sweet donut-type pastries, and there were no spreads provided for the bread, which felt a bit lacking.Since the breakfast buffet starts at 6:00 a.m., it’s convenient, but when I went to the restaurant about five minutes before 6:00 a.m., around 20 people were already lined up. I was able to start eating in about five minutes, but for some reason that day the line continued outside the restaurant even after 20 minutes had passed. In my past experience at the same time, the line usually clears after about 10 minutes, so this was the first time it didn’t ease up.This time I checked in before 5:00 p.m., but the parking lot was already about 80% full with what appeared to be contractors’ vehicles. This was also my first time seeing it that full so early. (After checkout, when I passed by in front of the Hotel during daytime hours, about half of the parking lot was still filled with what looked like contractors’ vehicles—even though it was daytime. Was there some large-scale construction nearby?) Despite that, both my Room and the hallways were quiet, and I could use Wi-Fi comfortably.Checkout was very convenient because you can choose to simply drop your key into a box for a quick checkout.I used to stay often at AZ Hotel Kofu Minami IC location; there they confirmed preferred breakfast times at check-in for group guests and staggered usage in 30-minute blocks (encouraging those who weren’t in a hurry to come later). When many groups were staying there, they also started breakfast earlier from 5:30 a.m. (I believe this was because that location has fewer restaurant seats; since I haven’t stayed there for about five years, I’m not sure if they still do this.)I don’t know whether this breakfast buffet crowding happened just by chance this time or not; however, if it is occurring regularly, it might help to ask guests their preferred breakfast time at check-in in order to spread out usage of the breakfast buffet.
